The new year has just begun but arguably the biggest fight of 2024 is just around the corner.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will meet in Saudi Arabia next month to decide the undisputed world heavyweight champion, and with just weeks to go pundits and fellow boxers are giving their thoughts on the massive bout.

Joe Joyce held the WBO interim heavyweight title until losing it to Zhilei Zhang last year, but the Briton hopes to eventually work his way into contention for one or all of the belts that the winner of Fury vs. Usyk will walk away with.

As an invested on-looker, Joyce has his own thoughts on how the two fighters stack up and what might happen when they finally step into the ring on Feb. 17.

“This is the fight everyone wants to see, and I thought it was going to happen a lot sooner but then the Francis Ngannou [vs. Fury] fight came [in October],” Joyce told Betway.

“Tyson Fury is taller and has a longer range, but Usyk throws more shots, is more skilful in the southpaw stance and it is a 50/50 fight.

EDDIE HEARN has confirmed Anthony Joshua’s next fight will be against UFC legend Francis Ngannou – the man who rocked Tyson Fury.

After reports emerged on social media late on Friday night, the Matchroom boxing chief took to X to announce that they were true.

Hearn added that the exact date for the mega-money clash will unveiled at a press conference in London on January 15.

Although the bout is expected to take place on March 9.

Hearn wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Tonight we confirm it’s a Done Deal! @anthonyjoshua v @francis_ngannou collide on a huge night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – press conference Jan 15 in London with full details dropping soon.”

The bout is set to be a ten-round boxing match between the two-time former heavyweight champion and ex-UFC title holder, and is another coup for Saudi dealmaker Turki Al-Sheikh.

The news comes after AJ’s £100million two-fight deal with Deontay Wilder went up in smoke last month after the American suffered a shock defeat to former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.

The first of the duo’s back-to-back fights was set to take place in Saudi Arabia on the March date.

And a spring return to action still appears to be on the cards for the Brit, even though a long-overdue showdown with Wilder isn’t.

Hearn recently hinted that Joshua could replicate the schedule he had in 2023, in which he fought three times in the space of ten months, winning all three.

Anthony Joshua

He defeated Jermain Franklin by unanimous decision back in March before knocking out Robert Helenius in the seventh round in August.

Joshua then stretched his winning-streak to three by forcing Wallin to retire at the end of the fifth round last month in Saudi.

Meanwhile the 37-year-old Ngannou put his MMA career on hold last year to fight WBC champ Fury, 35, in Saudi.

And he almost stunned the boxing world when he incredibly dropped the Gypsy King, only to be controversially denied a stunning victory on points.

Despite the defeat, his stock has risen and now he has secured what promises to be another bumper payday against one of boxing’s finest, after banking £8m for his last outing in the ring with Fury.

Although Hearn does not fancy Ngannou’s chances of an upset this time, as he talked down the Cameroonian’s abilities on talkSPORT on Friday night.

After confirming the bout, Hearn said: “If you watch him on the pads – I don’t want to be disrespectful – but there is absolutely no way in the world that Francis Ngannou could win even a Southern Area title.

“Johnny Fisher is our guy, Southern Area champion. Johnny Fisher vs Ngannou is a total mismatch, Fisher would have him out of there in a round.”

Ngannou posted his own message to fans on social media tonight amid the news, saying: “Making big moves in the new year. 2024 is going to be [fire emoji].”

Joshua is desperate to return to the top of the mountain in the heavyweight division and become a three-time champ.

However, he and the rest of the top contenders are currently waiting to see who emerges triumphant when Fury and Oleksandr Usyk face-off in their unification fight.

That mouthwatering showdown will also take place in Saudi on February 17 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.

Usyk, who beat Joshua for the WBA, WBO and IBF straps and then triumphed in the rematch, has a record of 21-0, while undefeated Fury sits at 33-1-0.

Anthony Joshua will take on ex- UFC star Francis Ngannou in a 10-round bout in Saudi Arabia in March.

The pair will clash in what will only be Ngannou’s second professional bout. He came close to stunning Tyson Fury last year, flooring the WBC champion before losing a marginal points decision.

Joshua had been provisionally scheduled to face Deontay Wilder following his win over Otto Wallin on December 23. However, that clash was scuppered by the American’s defeat to Joseph Parker.

On Friday night, MMA correspondent Ariel Helwani revealed the news on social media. In a video posted online, he said: “Massive breaking news from the world of combat sports,” he said. “I’ve had it confirmed that it is a done deal, it is going down, Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion is returning to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

“He is returning to action later this year to face the man who had an incredible 2023 in his own right. The man who just won on ‘day of reckoning’ on December 23, the only and only ‘AJ’, Anthony Joshua. It is a done deal.”

Helwani added that a press conference would take place in London later this month to confirm a date for the clash. Should Joshua, 34, prevail, he will be expected to then take on the victory of the Oleksandr Usyk v Fury unification bout, that also takes place in Saudi on February 17.

Eddie Hearn later added: “Tonight we confirm it’s a Done Deal! @anthonyjoshua v @francis_ngannou collide on a huge night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – press conference Jan 15 in London with full details dropping soon!”

The British heavyweight looked close to his explosive best in Saudi before Christmas, with Wallin failing to return from his stool for the sixth round. But he will be wary of Ngannou’s own clash in the Middle East least year, his only professional boxing bout to date.

And after coming so close to stunning the ‘Gypsy King’, the 37-year-old was awarded a No.10 ranking by the WBC. He left the UFC in January 2023, and was duly stripped of his heavyweight title, after the two parties failed to reach an agreement over a new contract.

He then signed for the Professional Fighters League. However, the ‘Predator’ has not since competed in an MMA bout amid preparing for his clash with Fury.

DESPITE years of talk and speculation, the heavyweight Battle of Britain between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has yet to happen.

The rivalling pair have even signed contracts to fight in the past only for talks to break down.

It has left the debate raging between fans on who is not only the best heavyweight in the country, but the world.

One man in the unique position of having fought them both is Otto Wallin, who shot to attention for his 2019 bout with Fury.

He memorably left the Gypsy King needing 47 stitches and a lenient referee and doctor who allowed the action to continue.

Fury, 35, dug down and edged out a decision victory to keep his undefeated record intact.

Fast forward four years and Wallin, 32, was named as the man to welcome AJ back to the ring in Saudi Arabia.

But Joshua, 34, gave the Swedish southpaw no chance of seeing the final bell as he dominated him over five rounds.

So Wallin – who was rightly pulled out by his corner – revealed AJ was much harder to fight compared to Fury.

He told  Boxing News: “I know that he is one of the best fighters out there.

Anthony Joshua

“I really have no excuses, he was just better. He did really well, used his reach well, and he hit me with some really good shots. He was just better.

“I think he had a good game plan. He felt like a very good fighter, and obviously, it was a much tougher fight than what I had with Tyson Fury.

“Maybe he’s found his home with Ben Davison.”

Veteran trainer Don Charles is very familiar with WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Charles trained Chisora for his decision loss to Usyk in 2020. Chisora gave Usyk one of the toughest fights of his career.

And last year, Charles prepared Daniel Dubois for his mandatory title fight against Usyk in Poland.

Earlier in the fight, Usyk went down from what was ruled as a low blow by the referee, but some observers felt Dubois had landed a legal shot to the body. Usyk would recover and eventually knock Dubois out in the ninth round.

On February 17 in Saudi Arabia, Usyk will collide with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in a high-stakes unification – with the winner become the undisputed beltholder of the weight class.

Charles believes Fury will be too big and too strong, with those attributes being enough to overcome Usyk’s advantage in hand speed and boxing ability.

“This Fury who has gone silent, I believe he’s gone silent, he’s gone away to train, he’s taking it seriously. Forgive me if I get this wrong, but I don’t even think it will be a hard fight for Fury. He’ll maul him, he’s too big for Usyk, he’ll maul him, hit him, tie him up, push him off, he’ll maul him,” Charles told Talk Sport.

“I’ve looked at this fight and no matter how I look at it I come to one conclusion. Yes, Usyk is an exceptional, brilliant technician/tactician. Usyk has a fantastic rhythm that can offset Fury. [He needs to throw] lots of feints, shoot to the body, leave the head alone. Throw all your combinations to the waist, don’t go up, leave Fury’s head alone, that’s what I would advise.”

It took us a while to get here, but Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will finally throw hands on February 17th, for all of the heavyweight marbles.

Fans have been torn on who they believe will win. Make room for Anthony Joshua on the couch of indecisiveness as he’s thought long and hard on how things will play out.

Fury, like always, will have a gigantic size advantage. But size doesn’t always win fights. Joshua, on two separate occasions, towered over Usyk. His biceps were also twice Usyk’s size. Yet, even with all of the physical advantages in the world, Usyk managed to kick Joshua off his throne in their first meeting. In the second, he kept him off it.

tyson fury and oleksandr usyk

That personal experience with Usyk makes the Ukrainian hard to beat – even for somebody as great as Fury.

“I don’t know,” said Joshua to Boxing Social when asked to pick a winner. “I’ve fought Usyk. I think he’s a phenomenal fighter and I think he has a great team around him. You’re only as good as your team and he has a great team around him. After being in the ring with him and studying him, still studying him now, I think he’s the one to edge it.”

For a long list of reasons, Joshua has never liked Fury. The way he conducts himself in the ring and the antics outside of it have simply rubbed the former unified champ the wrong way. But, Joshua doesn’t want his opinion to come across as either spurious or biased.

Usyk has a unique and perplexing style, one that no one, including Joshua, has been able to figure out. For that reason alone, the 34-year-old has a feeling that Usyk will do just enough to become an undisputed champion.

“Probably because of his experiences, his ring generalship, and ring craft. I think he’s top-tier.”

Legacy, Prestige, and wealth. You name it, Tyson Fury has it. ‘The Gypsy King,’ is widely regarded as one the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. Moreover, he has his way with words and can entertain just as much outside of the ring. It was only inevitable that he’d be a household name. This is also reflected in his financial transactions.

Just his name draws money. Only last year, he fought a single match against Francis Ngannou and added another $50 million to his net worth. Safe to say, his affluence is only increasing by the year. However, how important is money for him? In a recent Instagram story, he shares an eye-opening message about wealth that you may not expect from him.

Fury Agrees with 50 Cent’s Views on Wealth

Tyson Fury shared a clip of 50 Cent asserting that money is not the means for a happy life as it is possible to be happier even while having less. The clip which is a reel was shared by ‘afrogoats’. In it, 50 Cent goes on to explain the relationship between wealth and happiness. The American rapper while relaying his thoughts, states, “Some people know how to live better than others, with or without money. They just sort out and pick a better person to share their time with, you feel what I’m saying. Even if you sleep in a one-bedroom apartment they may be richer than a rich guy, your life, the fabrics of your life, and what you’re doing and how you feel about yourself at the moment.”

Fury was in agreement with the opinions advanced by 50 cents. In his Instagram story, he reposted the same and captioned it by stating, “Wise Words.” Moreover, this has not been the only instance the boxer has used his platform to spread a profound message.

Tyson Fury shares a food for thought

According to Fury, one should not take life for granted. In a video posted by him on X. a few months ago, he recorded himself and demanded his fans to talk to their loved ones frequently and tell them that they are loved. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “Time flies, we go from young people to old. So now is the time to tell that somebody, give him a call, tell him you love them, tell them you are sorry, whatever it may be.”

Such thoughts only validate the claim that the heavyweight champion is more just a boxer and a champion insider or outside the ring. Bearing the above revelations in mind, we ask you, what do you make of Fury’s claims? Share with us your thoughts and opinions with us in the comments below.

The biggest fight in boxing is fast approaching and, as the final weeks count down, Tyson Fury has once again been online to send messages to Oleksandr Usyk.

This heavyweight undisputed fight is the first in 24 years and will settle once and for all who is the best current heavyweight out there. The UK’s Fury is putting his lineal and WBC titles on the line, while former undisputed cruiserweight king Usyk adds his WBA, WBO and IBF belts to the mix.

The contest takes place on February 17 in Saudi Arabia with Usyk coming off the back of solid victories over Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua – twice – and Fury having brushed aside the likes of Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte before struggling to a points win over MMA star Francis Ngannou last time out.

That below-par showing has got plenty of people talking, including his own father, about whether or not the dip in his ability was a temporary moment of poor form or showed he was in steady decline as he enters the latter half of his thirties.

In a video posted on Instagram, he said:

Meanwhile, Usyk stays in the gym with an innovative way to bring in sparring partners.

Francis Ngannou brought his coach tears of joy with the amount of money he paid him for his crossover bout against Tyson Fury.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou earned more in his boxing debut against Fury last October than he did in his entire MMA career. Ngannou was being counted out by pundits and fans before the fight but he put on a stunning performance as Fury needed to pick himself up off the canvas to win by a single point in a controversial split decision.

Eric Nicksick has served as one of Ngannou’s main trainers at Xtreme Couture ever since he made the permanent move from Paris to Las Vegas in 2019. The coach explained how he was brought to tears after checking his bank account the morning after Ngannou’s fight against Fury.

“It was the most money I’ve ever been paid by a fighter, it was unbelievable,” Nicksick told MMA Junkie. “It was more than I expected. Obviously, Francis has always taken great care of me, but it floored me. When I saw my Wells Fargo account that morning, it literally brought me to tears.

“That’s a true story. Literally brought me to tears, because he changed my life. Not only from a professional standpoint but a monetary standpoint. It allowed me a lot of financial freedom to allow me to be able to enjoy my coaching, enjoy being a dad and a husband.”

“I get to take my kids to Park City this weekend, my daughter’s 16th birthday. It helped us buy a new car. There’s a lot of things with Francis moving over to boxing, and the way he takes care of his team. He loves every single one of us, and he shows it. He takes care of us, and I couldn’t thank him enough.”

Ngannou is holding out for a rematch against Fury but he will be waiting until the final quarter of this year as the Brit is locked into a two-fight deal with fellow heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Ngannou could be set for a return to the ring in March as he was recently named as a potential opponent for Fury’s domestic rival Anthony Joshua.

Francis Ngannou has been named as a potential opponent for Anthony Joshua after his stunning boxing debut against Tyson Fury.

Former UFC champion Ngannou pushed Fury to the brink in their crossover fight last October but lost a controversial decision. Fury was expected to make easy work of Ngannou to set up an undisputed fight against Oleksandr Usyk just two months later, but he needed to pick himself up off the canvas after being dropped and only won by one point on the judges’ scorecards.

Joshua rebounded after his consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk by winning three fights on the spin last year. ‘AJ’ previously dismissed a ‘gimmick’ fight against Ngannou but the Brit’s promoter Eddie Hearn changed his stance on the fight after Ngannou’s jaw-dropping performance against Fury.

“Right now, we have three fights that we’re in discussions for they’re all big and that doesn’t involve Deontay Wilder,” Hearn said whilst discussing Joshua’s fight plans with iFL TV. “Before March our aim, and we’ve discussed this, is to fight the winner of Fury versus Usyk. That is all we want to do. Obviously there’s a [Filip] Hrgovic fight out there for the world heavyweight title.”

anthony joshua

“There’s a Francis Ngannou fight out there which would be absolutely colossal. There’s other heavyweights as well, the [Zhilei] Zhang fight possibly as well with Queensbury. Our conversations right now are about mapping out Joshua’s next four or five fights. To map out his 2024 and potentially the rest of his career.

Hrgovic is the most likely opponent for Joshua in March as a world title is expected to be on the line for the fight if Usyk is stripped of his IBF belt after facing Fury. Ngannou’s chances of fighting Joshua would be boosted if the Ukrainian’s title isn’t taken away it as Hearn admitted a potential Hrgovic fight could be delayed for ‘AJ’.

“A lot has to happen by March to make that possible with Hrgovic. Are Fury or Usyk going to be able to keep the belt, or do they have to let it go? Is Joshua going to replace [Otto] Wallin in the rankings? There’s a lot of discussion, maybe that’s a fight that when everything plays out could be one for the summer,” he added.
