Tiger Woods has revealed a recent field visit to his latest golf course design in Utah just a week after his charity event in Las Vegas, where he sparked concerns among fans.

The 48-year-old, 15-time major winner provided an update on his project’s newest development on X, Thursday, after a viral clip of himself prompting his followers to question whether he’d had too much to drink was shared on social media, earlier this week, at the golfer’s Tiger Jam poker charity event in Sin City.

‘I spent some time at Marcella Club in Park City last week working on the front 9 with my team.

We’ve got most of it rough shaped. It looks amazing. These views will never get old.’

The Marcella Club course is located in Deer Valley, Utah, with a panoramic view of the Uinta Mountains, Jordanelle Reservoir, Deer Valley Resort, the Heber Valley and Mount Timpanogos. Woods’ project is expected to be the second course at the club

I spent some time at Marcella Club in Park City last week working on the front 9 with my team. We’ve got most of it rough shaped. It looks amazing. These views will never get old..

The former world No. 1’s layout consists of 8,000 yards of space, with challenges for players, both off the tee and around the greens.

Woods’ project started in February of last year and is managed by his golf course design business – Tiger Woods Design.

Woods is also currently behind the design of Trout National – The Reserve, with MLB star Mike Trout, of the Los Angeles Angels. The course is located in New Jersey and is expected to open next year.

Woods first sought an interest in outlining golf courses in 2006, with the founding of Tiger Woods Design. Since then, he’s opened eight courses although not all of them operate at a championship level.

Wood’s first project was the Trump World Golf Club Dubai, which endured several redesigns and changes before coming to fruition several years after its conception.

Then, Woods designed two courses in Cabo San Lucas, including the Cardonal at Diamante, which opened in 2015. It is a championship course and the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technology Championship. Other tournaments have also been played there.

The second course built by Woods in the area is the 12-hole par-3 The Oasis Short Course at Diamante. The course offers different routes to turn into a 3-hole par 3, par 4 and a par 5.

Other courses designed by Woods are Bluejack National (par 3 10-hole), Jack’s Bay (10 holes), Payne’s Valley (public course), The Hay at Pebble Beach (9-hole par 3) and South Shore & Jackson Park.

Jack Nicklaus has seen it all and done it all.

Just where do you begin picking out the best moment from his illustrious career?

At least that was one question posed to the Golden Bear in his annual news conference ahead of the 2024 Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. Nicklaus, now 84 years old, had a clear answer in his mind.

And that was meeting his wife and mother of his five children, Barbara, in college. Had he not, he’s sure that he wouldn’t have had the hall of fame career that saw him collect 18 major titles and 73 PGA Tour wins. The couple wed in 1960.

“That set the tone of my career,” Nicklaus said of meeting Barbara, who was a nursing student.

“Not everybody gets the right partner. And I had somebody who loved me, cared for me, supported me, and you know, that was really important.

“So that was a big thing to me. I don’t know that anything that was anymore important than that to me.

“And then of course obviously we have five children, I have 24 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, so we got a few mouths to feed at home.

“But that’s all because of her, and I think that, I give her a lot of credit for what I’ve won because, you know, a golfer goes out on Tour and if you’re not married, if you got your family, you get support, your caddie or whoever, whoever it might be, that’s very important to you.”

Nicklaus believes having a significant other has been crucial to others’ success.

Just look at Tiger Woods, whom he passed the torch to in 2000 at Valhalla Golf Club.

Nicklaus, then aged 60, played in his final PGA Championship and was aware his days were numbered.

He continued: “I don’t mean this in a nasty way, but I remember when Tiger was single and Tiger, then he got married and they said, ‘Well how do you think that will effect Tiger’s career?’

“And I said, ‘Well, I think it will only be a plus.’

“I says, he’s going to get tired of coming home and telling Butch Harmon, ‘Hey, Butch, I won another one.’

“He had somebody to share it with. You want to share your career and enjoy the fruits of your work.”

Woods is not playing this week.

There was speculation he might tee it up in Ohio as he spoke of his desire to play more professional golf in between majors.

Woods will next be in action at the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst.

Tiger Woods fans experienced bitter disappointment recently when a “teaser” hinting his return to the PGA Tour this week at The Memorial Tournament turned out to be unrelated.

Hosted by golfing megastar Jack Nicklaus, this Dublin, Ohio-located tournament is one of the most respected titles in the entire PGA Tour. Enthusiasm spread among fans after the tournament’s official social media account posted an eyes emoji with no explanation, leading many to suspect hidden news about Woods joining the event beginning on Thursday

Unfortunately, fan expectations were misplaced as Tiger Wood was a notable no-show in the signature event line up revealed on Monday. Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and current champion Viktor Hovland are set to compete.

Following his 2023 ankle reconstruction surgery which took place post-Masters, and to help navigate complications from his car accident the previous year, Woods has only participated in three PGA Tour-endorsed events. He appeared at the Genesis Invitational in February but dropped out halfway due to flu.

he iconic golf star did qualify for The Masters in April, but despite his previous five-time success sporting the coveted green jacket at Augusta National, his performance fell short this time, finishing in 60th place.

Woods, a 15-time major champion, has taken a month’s break before the PGA Championship in May. Before teeing off, he confessed to a lack of sharpness due to his sparse competitive play, which was evident when he missed the cut with a seven-over-par across two rounds at Valhalla.

“My body’s okay,” Woods remarked prior to his round in Kentucky. “It is what it is. I wish my game was a little bit sharper. Again, I don’t have a lot of competitive reps, so I am having to rely on my practice sessions and getting stuff done either at home or here on-site.”

Woods, who has been granted a special exemption for the upcoming US Open at Pinehurst No. 2, faced criticism after his performance at Valhalla, suggesting he needs more regular competition to withstand the rigours of a major and perform to his potential.

Despite the Memorial offering an ideal setting with a strong field to hone his skills in tournament conditions, it seems Woods is wary of pushing his body with back-to-back events. Consequently, expectations for his impact at Pinehurst are decidedly low.

Tiger Woods was let stunned by his son’s trick shot, describing the effort as ‘f***ing nasty’.

Woods is regarded as arguably the greatest golfer of all time and that’s something that clearly runs in the family.

The 47-year-old will be playing alongside his son, Charlie, at this weekend’s PNC Championship.

Woods committed to the unique event in which golf stars team up with a family member, with he and his son set to face Justin Thomas and his father, Mike.

Taking in a practice round, Woods and Charlie were having some fun as Charlie took on a trick shot with his club facing backwards, a shot that he pulled off to the admiration of those around them.

Watching on, Woods could be heard saying: “We’re ending on that right there, that was nasty! F***ing nasty!”

The PNC Championship will take place in Orlando, Florida this weekend and will be played over 36 holes rather than the usual 72.

Charlie Woods

It will be Woods’ second tournament in a month after the golfing legend made his long-awaited return at the Hero World Challenge.

The American icon looked in good shape in his first tournament appearance since withdrawing from The Masters in April in order to have ankle surgery.

He finished on even par, with Scottie Scheffler winning the competition with a final score of -20.

The PNC Championship tees off Thursday, Dec. 14 and will feature 20 professional golfers and a family member competing at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Course in Orlando, Florida. One of the headline pairs for this year’s PNC Championship are Tiger Woods and his son Charlie.

The two first competed in the PNC Championship in 2020. Tiger and Charlie finished second in the 2021 PNC Championship, two strokes behind winning Team Daly (John Daly and John Daly II).

Tiger and Charlie Woods will be back on the course again looking for another strong result. They’re the latest father-son duo in golf and in American sports to play together. Here’s a look at some other notable father-son duos who competed together in other sports:

Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. (baseball)

By the time Ken Griffey Jr. was named the U.S. high school baseball player of the year in 1987, his father had won two World Series and made three All-Star teams. The Seattle Mariners drafted Griffey Jr. with the first overall selection in the 1987 MLB Draft and Griffey Sr. helped negotiate his son’s contract

Griffey Jr. made his debut on April 3, 1989 and the duo made MLB history as the first father-son duo to play in the majors at the same time. The Cincinnati Reds released Griffey Sr. midway through the 1990 season and signed with the Mariners to close out the season with his son. They became the first father-son duo to appear in the same lineup (Aug. 31, 1990) and hit back-to-back home runs (Sept. 14, 1990).

“Being a father, I guess it’s a dream come true,” Griffey Sr. said at the time, per MLB.com. “This is the pinnacle – this is the thing in my career that I’m very proud of – very proud of. You can talk about the ’76 batting race I was in and all that. But to me this is No. 1.”

Gordie, Mark, and Marty Howe (hockey)

Gordie Howe retired from the NHL in 1971 as the greatest player in the sport’s history. Five decades later, Mr. Hockey remains with the likes of Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr as the greatest NHL players of all-time.

After 25 years with the Detroit Red Wings, Howe retired due to a chronic wrist injury and moved into the Red Wings’ front office. Two years later in 1973, the newly formed World Hockey Association (WHA) came knocking.

Both of Howe’s sons – Mark and Marty – were playing for the Houston Aeros and wanted to sign the legend as well. Surgery on his wrist cleared the way for the trio to play together in the newly formed league. Howe won the Gary L. Davidson Trophy in 1974 – given to the WHA’s most valuable player – and won the WHA title that year. After another title in 1975, the trio signed with the New England Whalers (now the Carolina Hurricanes) in 1977.

Lee, Richard, and Kyle Petty (NASCAR)

The Petty Family’s seen four generations of stock car racers, starting with Lee Petty. Petty competed in NASCAR’s inaugural race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on June 19, 1949. He’d go on to win Cup Series (then-Grand National) championships in 1954, 1958, and 1959.

In the 1958 season, Lee’s son Richard made his debut in the Jim Mideon 500. The two would race together in NASCAR through the 1964 season. Richard won the first of seven NASCAR titles that year and Lee competed in his final two races at Old Dominion Speedway and Watkins Glen.

Richard racked up championships in 1967, 1971, 1972, 1974, 1975, and 1979, cementing his status as one of NASCAR’s all-time greats. In 1979, his son Kyle debuted in the then-Winston Cup Series at the Talladega 500. Kyle finished the race ninth, five spots behind Richard.

.The two raced together for more than a decade. Kyle’s first Winston Cup Series win came in the 1987 Coca-Cola 600 with Richard following in fourth. Kyle won another pair of races before Richard’s retirement after the 1992 season.

Kyle’s son Adam was expected to compete in the Cup Series as well but he died following a high-speed crash at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on May 12, 2000. The duo competed in just one Cup Series race together: the 2000 DirecTV 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (NASCAR)

By the time Richard Petty retired, Dale Earnhardt was well on his way to matching his championship record. Earnhardt eventually won seven Winston Cup Series titles (1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994) and earned many nicknames for his aggressive style behind the wheel.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. made his Winston Cup Series debut at the 1999 Coca-Cola 600. Earnhardt Sr. finished sixth with Earnhardt Jr. following a bit behind in 16th. The two raced full-time in 2000 when Earnhardt Sr. finished second in the championship and Earnhardt Jr. won his first Cup Series race at the 2000 DirecTV 500.

The 26th PNC Championship will be held Dec. 16-17 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando (Fla.) at Grande Lakes.

Tiger Woods and his 14-year-old son, Charlie, will highlight the 20-team field, which is for major and Players Championship winners. Each player is partnered with a family member.

That major list also includes PGA Tour Champions winners. Steve Stricker won three of the senior majors this past season and will make his debut in the field alongside his daughter, Izzi, a Wisconsin high school state champion.

The 36-hole tournament employs a scramble format for both rounds. This means each players hit tee shots, and the team selects the better among the two. They then both play from that spot and select the better shot from there.

Vijay Singh and his son, Qass, are the defending champions. Here’s a look at the TV schedule (all times ET), with full field below.

Anything Tiger Woods can do, his son, Charlie Woods, can do better. At least at the very early stages of the 14-year-old’s golf career.

On Wednesday, with his father cheering him on, Charlie and The Benjamin School’s boys golf team won the gold medal at the FHSAA Class A state championship. It’s the school’s fourth state golf title.

The freshman shot fourth out of the five-player team, finished tied for 26th overall in the tourney and shot 78-76 over two days at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.

In taking first place, Charlie did something Tiger never did in prep school — win a high school state championship.

Tiger and Charlie

Tiger Woods has announced that he will team with his 14-year-old son, Charlie, for the fourth time in the PNC Championship, formerly the Father-Son Championship, on Dec. 16 and 17 at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.

The elder Woods, 47, has not played since he withdrew from the Masters last April because of ongoing problems with his right leg, which he injured in an SUV accident in Southern California in August of 2019.

In addition, Woods will play in the Hero World Challenge, of which he is the host, next week at the Albany Club in New Providence, The Bahamas.

“It is an amazing gift to be able to share my love of golf with Charlie and we genuinely do look forward to playing in the PNC Championship all years,” said Woods, who claimed the last of his 82 victories to tie Sam Snead for the PGA Tour record in the 2020 Zozo Championship at Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan. “Competing together, against a field of so many golfing greats and their families, is so special.

“My ankle is fine. Where they fused my ankle, I have absolutely zero issue whatsoever. That pain is completely gone. It’s the other areas of my leg that have been compensated for, all the surrounding areas are where I had all my problems and I still do. So you fix one, the others have to become more hypermobile to get around it, and it can lead to some issues.

“Physically, I can’t do many of the things I used to be able to do … but I can think my way around the course. There was a point when I didn’t know if I’d be play again. I was just hoping to walk normally again.”

Charlie and Tiger Woods finished second to John Daly and his son, John II, in the 2021 PNC Challenge, a 36-hole scramble event, and have finished in the top 10 in each of their three starts in the tournament, including a tie for eighth last year—when Tiger was allowed to use a golf cart in order to compete.

Earlier this month, Charlie Woods helped the Benjamin School of Palm Beach, Fla., capture the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A state championship.

Vijay Singh of Fiji and his son, Cass, claimed the title last year.

Other winners of the PNC Challenge in the past include Justin Thomas and his father, Mike; Bernhard Langer of Germany and his son, Jason; Davis Love III and his son, Dru; Angel Cabrera of Argentina and his son, Angel Jr; David Duval and his stepson, Nick Karavites; Lanny Wadkins and his son, Tucker; Stewart Cink and his son, Connor; Larry Nelson and his son, Drew; Hale Irwin and his son, Stu; Craig Stadler and his son, Kevin; Raymond Floyd and his son, Robert, and Jack Nicklaus and his son, Gary.

Other teams set to play in the PNC Challenge include the defending champion Singhs, the Thomases, Nelly Korda and her father Petr, and Annika Sorenstam of Sweden and her son, Will; Padraig Harrington of Ireland and his son, Ciaran; Lee Trevino and his grandson, Daniel, and Steve Stricker, and his daughter, Izzi.

Tiger Woods and his son, Charlie, are set to participate in the PNC Championship for the fourth consecutive time. This marks the second event in which Woods has announced his return, following his confirmation of participation in the Hero World Challenge.

The 2023 PNC Championship will take place from December 14 to 17 at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. In addition to Team Woods, 19 other teams will compete for a purse of $1 million.

Tiger and Charlie have had mixed performances in their past three appearances at the PNC Championship. Although they have yet to secure a victory, the duo has finished inside the top eight in all three starts. Their best performance came in 2021 when they finished as runners-up after hitting 11 consecutive birdies in the final round. They earned $80,000 for their second-place finish.

The Tiger-Charlie duo made their first appearance in 2020, taking home $47,000 and finishing 7th. Last year, Team Woods struggled to put on a good show as they finished tied for eighth and received $45,167.

The 47-year-old golfer is making his return later this month with the Hero World Challenge, an event hosted by himself. The competition will take place from November 30 to December 3, 2023, at the Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas.

For the uninitiated, Tiger Woods has been out of action since Masters. He withdrew from the final day at Augusta National and then underwent a subtalar fusion surgery. Following the surgery, Woods had been on a break but now decided to make a comeback.

Speaking about his health, he said his ankle was fine, but there were other problems. He said, as per USA Today:

Tiger Woods fans are walking on air. First, the 15-time Major winner confirmed his presence at the tournament he hosts on the shores of the West Atlantic. The Hero World Challenge will kick off at the end of this month and run through December 3. Two weeks later, he’ll pair up with his son, Charlie Woods, at the PNC Championship—the tournament where Tiger Woods first ‘unveiled’ his son to the world.

America’s Favorite Video Today

Woods’ last competitive outing was at the Masters in April, where he had to withdraw with an ankle injury. Notably, it’s been more than three years since the 82-time PGA Tour winner lifted a trophy. But Woods has history by his side at the PNC Championship. The father-son duo almost sniffed victory in 2021 when their title bid was stalled by John Daly and his son, John Daly II. This was followed by an eighth-place finish last year, which was plagued by injury. But this time, both the father and the son are coming back with renewed vigor.

Why is the PNC Championship so special to Tiger Woods?

In the last four years, it seems the PNC Championship is one tournament that the veteran golfer doesn’t want to miss. Last year, around this time, Woods withdrew from the Hero World Challenge in December due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Regardless, he turned up with Jr. Woods at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club a few weeks later.

If one reason for signing up was the definite father-son bonding that has become the yearly wholesome moment for fans, another was that the PNC Championship allows carts on the greens. which meant a hobbling Woods didn’t have to walk the entire course. This year too, Woods can use a cart should he choose to. But since he has confirmed his presence at the Hero World Challenge before the PNC Championship, he should be able to walk with his son, like he did when caddying for him at the Notah Begay III Junior National Championship.

Woods, during the tournament last year, called their pairings “Team Ice Bath.” Coming from a veteran golfer who was limping on the course, it’s understandable. But why ‘team’ ice bath? Well, Charlie Woods too was not at his hundred percent either. Woods Jr. rolled his ankle, as Notah Begay, a family friend of Tiger Woods, told the press.

With both father and son hobbling on the course, the result reflected the effect of injury. Tiger Woods and then 13-year-old Charlie Woods finished in the eighth position on the leaderboard, stumbling from the second spot at the start of the final round. However, a year has changed many things. Woods Jr. is suddenly a grown-up kid who wins individual tournaments and wins big for his school as well. Woods, too, went through surgery and is making two back-to-back appearances within a few weeks.

Can the Woods duo sniff the title this time?

We don’t know how well Woods can play at this moment. All the golf world has seen is him caddying for his son and practicing his swings. However, what we do know is that Charlie Woods is in phenomenal form.

Teenage Woods has been turning heads this season. First, he recorded his career-best performance at the 14–15 age group regional qualifier for the Notah Begay III Junior National Tournament, carding a 66 in the final round with his pop masquerading as his bagman.

A few months later, the teenager added more mementos to his growing trophy cabinet. Charlie Woods was part of the Benjamin School Buccaneers, which won the Florida High School Athletic Association Class A State Championship. Teenage Woods has developed a lot since the time he last played with his father. Don’t be surprised if it’s the ‘cub’ instead of the ‘tiger’ that steals the spotlight.

But Tiger Woods is making his comeback at the Hero World Challenge, first, right?

Yes, Tiger Woods is making his comeback at the tournament he hosts. Yes, this is the first time he’ll return to the tournament after 2019, when he finished in fourth place. Expect him to be fired up? Of course. BUT…. and there is a huge but: the field includes six players from the top ten in the OWGR rankings. Woods himself chose a strong field that is seldom seen in a PGA Tour event outside the Majors.

Can the 15-time Major winner hold up on his own? Well, it’ll be a cardinal sin to write Tiger Woods off any competitive tournament’s list of potential title contenders. But it won’t be a grave error to say that there are other favorites who have odds on their sides.
