It was a rollercoaster of a ride for the Green Bay Packers in general and Jonathan Owens in specific for the NFL season. The Packers’ safety secured career firsts, gained recognition, and as a natural course also attained losses. The biggest of all however arrived for Jonathan Owens, Packers, and Simone Biles who stayed by throughout the journey on the 21st of January.

Putting up a total of 21-24 against the 49ers, the Green Bay Packers found their exit from the NFL season in the divisional round. “Another football season happy & healthy in the books,” was the optimistic response Simone Biles sent for her husband. Now following the trail of continued positivity, Jonathan Owens might just have stumbled upon an honor.

Jonathan Owens hints at possible project

The path following the NFL season end doesn’t seem all somber for Jonathan Owens. Simone Biles’ surprise, a warm day by the pool initially, and a Monster Energy-related cryptic post eventually has the 28-year-old looking forward to days ahead. A ‘shhh’ emoticon and a curious side-eye framed Owens’ recent Instagram Stories. Backing the cryptic expressions was a banner of the safety on the ground accompanied by the NFL logo and a Monster Energy X Supercross FIM World Championship sticker.

The post was reshared by Jonathan Owens from blogger, Skylerwindmiller’s stories. Though the connection remains uncertain, Monster Energy has been a long-time sponsor of both the NFL and Supercross. With the subtle hints, Owens’ seems to be onto an exciting project involving notable names. And if the future revelation were to meet the speculations, it would mean a path of happiness post NFL season for Owens with Simone Biles marking an initial beginning.

Simone Biles sparks happiness spree

Surprising and supporting each other through their games and matches or otherwise have been Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens’ visible love language. And when the Packers’ arrived following his final NFL match, the pattern proved no different. “look whose home… my heart” Biles added with several expressive emoticons after balancing a months-long, long-distance relationship. Furthermore, the 7-time Olympic medalist’s elation also included a warming surprise for her husband.

It was a bouquet. A gesture so often depicting the duo’s love story. Be it Simone Biles’ comeback or Jonathan Owens’ game day cheering, a neatly wrapped flower present has always bound the two. This time around, the gymnastics GOAT arranged two bouquets and both in a a pair of rodeo boots. “‘my lil texas girl”, “my cowgirl’” was Owens’s reaction to the gesture highlighting Biles’ Houston bring-up. The moment might as well be one of the most cherishable moment for some time. For, with 2024’s arrival, the gymnast is all caught up with training, Paris in mind.

Months into their marriage, the world’s curiosity about the financial dynamic between gymnastics legend Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, continues to grow. As two individuals with accomplished careers in their respective fields, the question of who holds a greater net worth has piqued the interest of fans and followers alike.

In the realm of gymnastics, Simone Biles stands as an iconic figure, achieving unparalleled success with a multitude of medals and accolades. Her remarkable journey and recent return to the mat have ignited discussions not only about her athletic prowess but also about her financial standing. As the question lingers, let’s delve into the world of Simone Biles’ wealth and explore whether she outshines her husband, Jonathan Owens, in terms of riches.

Comparing net worths of Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens

Simone Biles hailed as the greatest gymnast of all time holds an estimated net worth of around $16 million as of 2023. This impressive number stems from her extraordinary gymnastic achievements and an array of lucrative endorsements. Brands like Athleta, SK-II, Visa, and Uber Eats, among others, have contributed significantly to her financial standing.

Beyond endorsements, Biles has made strategic investments in real estate, adding another layer to her economic prowess. Apart from her numerous medals and endorsements, Biles acquired a 4,000-square-foot home near Houston, Texas in 2021. Her social media following, boasting 6.8 million on Instagram, has also become a valuable asset for sponsored content.

Simone Biles, the most decorated American gymnast and holder of seven Olympic medals, shocked the world when she bowed out of the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021. She still medaled—taking bronze on the balance beam and silver in the women’s team final—but withdrew from five events over concerns for her physical and mental health.

In 2023, the beloved gymnast returned in a big way, competing in the U.S. Classic and putting herself on track for a major Olympics comeback at the 2024 Paris Games. Here’s a look into how she started in gymnastics, her net worth and why she’s the richest in her sport.

How did Simone Biles get her start?

Born in 1997, Biles started gymnastics at the ripe old age of 6. On a field trip with her daycare, she visited a gymnastics center and began imitating the other gymnasts. The gym later sent her family a letter requesting that she join the sport.

A prodigy in every regard, by 2007 (age 10) Biles was competing as a level 8 gymnast—which, for those of us who don’t speak gymnastics, basically means “really, really good.” She dominated national competitions until 2013, when she became the first Black woman to win the all-around gold at the World Championships.

By 2014 (17 years old), when she won again, some were already calling her the “best gymnast in the world.” She was practically a shoo-in for the 2016 Olympics … and we know how that ended up.

This was all the more impressive considering Biles’ childhood. “Growing up, me and my siblings were so focused on food because we didn’t have a lot of food,” she recalled in her Facebook Watch series Simone vs. Herself. “I remember there was this cat around the house and I’d be so hungry. They would feed this cat and I’m like, ‘Where the heck is my food?’ And so I think that’s where it stemmed where I don’t like cats is because this frickin’ street cat, she always fed it, but she never fed us.”

Biles was placed in foster care as a toddler, along with her siblings, and eventually adopted by her grandparents.

What is Simone Biles’s net worth in 2024?

In 2024, Simone Biles is estimated to have a net worth of $16 million.

Does Simone Biles have a salary?

Like many Olympic athletes, Biles does not earn a traditional salary. Most of her $16 million fortune has been amassed through various endorsement deals.

How much did Simone Biles make competing in the Olympics?

Athletes all around the world try for the chance to compete in the Olympics and win glory for themselves and their country. That “glory” part is key, because they don’t get paid much for it.

In fact, those who don’t win aren’t paid anything at all. Those who do medal accept fairly paltry sums (in the scheme of things) of $15,000 for a bronze medal, $22,500 for a silver and $37,500 for a gold, in the U.S. at least. While the Olympics does cover travel, boarding and food, most teams have private sponsors that pay the majority of their costs. And, of course, the real money is made from endorsements, if an athlete is hyped enough to score them.

When Biles first competed in Rio, she made less than the Olympians of today. For each of her four gold medals in 2016, she earned $25,000, and she got $10,000 for the bronze—for a total of $110,000. In 2021, she earned $37,500 ($22,500 for silver, $15,000 for bronze). Overall, she’s made $147,500 for her seven Olympic medals.

How much does Simone Biles make in endorsements?

Now, to the real pot of gold, the reason Biles can call herself a millionaire: endorsement deals. As a highly decorated, famous gymnast, Biles’ face and name is worth a lot in the world of ad campaigns and product lines. According to a 2021 Forbes estimate, she earns at least $5 million annually in endorsements. Although, this number is subject to wild fluctuation, as she made $10 million in 2022.

Companies Biles has partnered with include Athleta, Visa, United Airlines, MasterClass and UberEats.

Is Simone Biles sponsored by Nike?

Back in 2015, when Biles was just 18 years old, she signed on with Nike—a big fish to land for an athlete who hadn’t even been to the Olympics yet. “It was obviously super neat at that age to sign with such a big brand,” Biles told The Wall Street Journal in 2021.

Though the terms of the Nike-Biles’ deal were not released, their partnership lasted six years, ending when Biles announced she was leaving Nike to partner with inclusive brand Athleta right before the Tokyo Games.

Why did Simone Biles quit Nike?

According to Biles’ interview with The Wall Street Journal, her departure from Nike was mainly due to differing values and how she wanted to use her star power moving forward. Athleta, apparently, aligned much more closely with her mission.

“I felt like it wasn’t just about my achievements, it’s what I stood for and how they were going to help me use my voice and also be a voice for females and kids,” Biles said. “I feel like they also support me, not just as an athlete, but just as an individual outside of the gym and the change that I want to create, which is so refreshing.”

Before Biles’ decision to switch to Athleta, Nike was taking heavy criticism for its allegedly poor treatment of pregnant athletes. In an op-ed for The New York Times in 2019, Olympic runner Allyson Felix claimed the brand had offered her a 70% pay cut when structuring a new deal, and refused to give her contractual protections should she not perform at her best while pregnant or as a new mom. (In response to the backlash, Nike announced a new maternity policy for all sponsored athletes, guaranteeing an athlete’s pay and bonuses for 18 months around pregnancy.)

Additionally, The Wall Street Journal piece mentioned that Biles’ share of promotions with Nike didn’t keep pace with her growing accolades.

“[…] Now that I’m older and kind of in the world a little bit more, I see and I know and I learn and I grow from things. So to partner with Athleta, I think they stand for everything that I stand for,” Biles said.

Is Simone Biles the richest gymnast?

In 2022, Biles made Forbes’ list of highest-paid female athletes, coming in at No. 10. With a Super Bowl commercial, new ads for Subway and Powerade, and an activewear collection with Athleta, among other moves, Biles raked in an estimated $10 million in 2022.

She was also the highest-ranking gymnast on the list, making her the highest-paid female gymnast (and by a landslide, although the tennis and golf stars were really cleaning up). According to other sources, she’s also the richest gymnast in the world, topping the net worths of other countries’ star gymnasts as well as American Shawn Johnson (net worth: $9 million).

Despite her riches, Biles has described herself in the past as being quite frugal. “I will only splurge if I earned it,” she’s said. One might argue she has.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have captured the sports world with their love ever since they went public with their relationship. However, amidst the joy of 2023, the year they tied the knot, an unexpected twist occurred towards the end of the year. This happened when Jonathan Owens shared on ‘The Pivot’ podcast, “I always say that the men are the catch.” To add fuel to the fire, he even admitted, “I didn’t know who she was at the time. But like, the first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of followers. So in my mind I’m like, ‘OK, she’s got to be good.” This did not sit well with the fans of Simone Biles, who hail her as the “GOAT” in gymnastics. The drama escalated when Owens doubled down on his claims in an interview with Vanity Fair, leading to intense online backlash. Fans flooded the internet, bashing the Green Bay Packer’s safety for his comments and claims.

Even Sunny Hostin, the host of “The View,” expressed skepticism about Owens’ claims, noting that Biles is featured on a cereal box and saying, “I don’t know who he is.” The football center for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jason Kelce, the brother of Travis Kelce, also joined in and shaded Jonathan Owens when Simone Biles was nominated for the “People’s Choice Athlete of the Year Award,” questioning, “How is Simone Biles on this, but her boyfriend isn’t?” The drama initiated in December 2023 continued into the first month of 2024. Despite how Simone Biles responded to the hate, we continue to see the gymnastics phenom act differently on social media. This prompts us to ask if Simone Biles is done with the internet. Let’s find out!

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens’ response to the drama

Amidst the unfolding drama, Jonathan Owens posted an image of their first dance on Instagram, captioned, “Unbothered 😂❤️ Just know we locked in over here.” on December 22, 2023. Then, on December 24, 2023, Biles took to Twitter and shared a picture of a confused child, writing, “Are y’all done yet?”

Following this, Simone Biles even took to Instagram to share pictures of the loved-up couple at Christmas and the holiday season, showing they were unfazed by the drama. Later, she also clapped back at haters on Instagram, stating, “Y’all want me to be insecure so bad.”  However, despite the claims of being “Unbothered,” there has been a noticeable shift in Simone Biles’ social media activity.

How is Mrs. Owens acting differently on social media?

According to Simone Biles’s Instagram activity since the controversy, a significant change has been observed on her platform. The comment section of Mrs. Owens’s posts has been limited. That means only close friends and people who she follows can leave comments on her pictures.

Previously, with over 10 million followers, she would actively engage with fans in the comments. The restricted comments on many of her posts leave us pondering whether Jonathan Owens’ controversy has caused social media fatigue for Biles. What do you feel about this? Do you think Simone Biles is done with the internet?

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have heard it all in recent weeks with all the backlash over the Green Bay Packers’ safety and his version of the story about how he met the legendary gymnast.

But they’ve deflected all that on social media, ignoring all the haters and continuing to talk about what they love about each other.

Now, with Owens’ NFL season ending after the Green Bay Packers were eliminated from the playoffs, Biles has posted on Instagram with a simple message along with photos of the pair, perhaps a way of putting any “controversy” to rest if that exists:

With the 2024 Olympic Games looming overhead, the country’s top gymnasts are training hard to bring out their best forms. Not only members of Team USA, but stars from all over the world are doing everything they can to develop their skills ahead of the rumble at the French capital. And what better way to do it than spending some time with the likes of Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles?

5-time PanAm gold medalist Canadian gymnast Ellie Black recently got together with the American athletes and it looks like they had a blast getting ready for the upcoming Games together. The 28-year-old had a lot of praiseful words for the members of Team USA as she picked up important pointers from the country’s best stars.

Simone Biles & Co. offers crucial wisdom to Canadian gymnast

For any gymnast around the world, four-time Olympic and 23-time World Championships gold medalist Simone Biles is a role model to look up to with deliberation. Throw Biles’ best friend and the 2022 World Championships gold winner Jordan Chiles into the mix, and you have the best possible training group you can imagine. For three-time Commonwealth Games winner Ellie Black, being able to train together with these two gymnastics icons proved to be a much-needed development process, as highlighted in her recent Instagram post.

Black joined hands with her American colleagues at the World Champions Center recently and couldn’t stop gushing about their time together. “It was great to spend some time training at the World Champions Centre to prepare for 2024!“, wrote the jubilant Canadian in her post. She also said that she’s grateful for being able to call these incredible athletes her friends.

Black also took a moment to appreciate how these gymnastics stars come together to support each other and help their comrades reach the heights they deserve. Along with Biles and Chiles, Ellie also extended her thanks to other American sensations like the 2023 PanAm Championships gold medalist Zoe Miller and the 2023 World Championships team member Joscelyn Roberson.

Ellie Black looking to set the record straight

Ellie was part of the Canadian national team participating in the 2016 Olympics, where she finished 5th All-Around. Black reappeared for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she narrowly missed out on a podium finish in balanced beam, while Simone took the 3rd place at the same event.

Now, after receiving crucial advice from the best people in the business, fans hope that Ellie will finally turn things around and walk away from the French capital on a high note later this year.

Sports can, at times, be a grueling world of exhaustion; physically and mentally. What adds on to the situation further is the notions and perspectives people in the industry and outside force upon each other. However, in recent times, renowned figures have risen to speak of the circumstances, shedding light on well-being prioritization. Jordan Chiles, the Olympic gymnast, reveals to have found strength in these names to be one herself.

Emotional ab*se, body shaming, self-doubt, and concerns more have framed Jordan Chiles’ list of rocks on her path. After years of resilience and inner battles, the gymnast found her way to peace and to advocate mental health. In a recent revelation, the Olympic silver medalist listed the iconic figures that held an impact on her.

Jordan Chiles credits best friend and other icons

Jordan Chiles recently joined the Lautners for an interview on her journey and life in general. She spoke in detail about her ebbs and flows. From the beginning of her gymnastics career to the emotional scars she incurred throughout, the Olympian had a lot to express and to highlight. She appeared to be wiser beyond her years. Taylor Dome Lautner, sitting through the stories, to the end asked who had the most positive impact on Jordan’s mental health. For the gymnast, it was every sports figure that openly spoke about it. “From Simone to Serena Williams to Naomi Osaka to even Michael Jordan when people really didn’t know that he was truly talking about it,” Chiles remarks.

Furthermore, her list extended to include renowned entertainment names inclusive of Chloe Bailey and Megan Thee Stallion. Her journey and what she’s gone through I was like wow,” Chiles says of the former. To the end of it, Taylor Lautner added, “You are one of those,” and rightfully so.

An impactful figure herself

Simone Biles

Jordan Chiles has walked through numerous difficult paths in her life. Though the instances initially restricted the gymnast, she has grown to embrace and to point out the issues. One of these has been the outer view surrounding her body image. A concern she has outgrown to shed light and inspire. “I’m not the typical gymnast you see every day,” she says. Just knowing that as a gymnast, not everything is going to be perfect. It’s okay if you fail. It’s okay if you have those times where you doubt yourself because at the end it’s only going to make you stronger.”

Being a voice, and helping other people through her stories, has been a peace in itself for Jordan Chiles. “It gives us a better opportunity and to have fun, Jordan adds as she continues to thrive.

The dawn of the new year has brought along excitement for the gymnastics season and the many contests it entails in the US. Winter Cup, American Classic, U.S. Classic, and numerous more provide a noticeable ground for gymnasts to make their way up. Until recently, these mats extended to foreign athletes for participation. But while contesting rules might have changed, Simone Biles‘ recent social media appearance presents no restriction to training.

The US gymnastics governing body recently presented a series of policies to the sport, including foreign athletes’ restrictions in American competitions. Now, as the case has gained an audience amongst gymnastics enthusiasts online, Simone Biles and Canadian athletes could be seen having only ‘training’ on their minds.

Simone Biles, an American, joins her neighbors for a training session

The World Champions Centre has been a home for the 7-time Olympic medalist for years together. Owned by Simone Biles’ parents, the training center has nurtured some of the recognizable names of the US gymnastics team. Jordan Chiles, Joscelyn Roberson, Zoe Miller, and many others. This time around, the mats stood to witness the presence of Canadian athletes alongside Melanie (French) and other US gymnasts. “We love when our friends visit us,” the World Champions Centre captioned.

Simone Biles

It was also further acknowledged by coach Cecile Landi on her Instagram stories. The icon added an American flag and a Canadian flag with a handshake emoticon in the middle, showcasing their harmonious allegiance forged. With the Paris Olympics and the trials for the games nearing, the gymnasts alongside Simone Biles seemed to be training for a hopeful path. However, while the post presents gymnasts sharing the mats for training, that seems to be the extent of it in the US gymnastics scene.

US gymnastics governing body passes new regulations

On the 9th of January, US Gymnastics presented a document titled, ‘Women’s International Elite Committee Meeting’. From injury to athlete committee, the discussion touched upon five different topics. Under the third one, by Brian Carey, the motion held a discussion surrounding ‘foreign athlete participation in domestic U.S. competitions’. The criteria involved three major US competitions: Winter Cup, American Classic, and U.S. Classic. By the end of the meet, the motion was passed with foreign athletes not being eligible for participation.

However, while the reasons remain unknown for the move, enthusiasts have framed a link to the 2023 Classics. During the contest, French gymnastics fame, Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos put on a performance so excellent she landed right behind Simone Biles with the second-highest all-around score. While enthusiasts express their grief by missing a spectacle, the meeting has been met with a rather positive response. Together in the States or not, Paris 2024 awaits a marvel.

Simone Biles recently shared a sweet message of encouragement for her husband Jonathan Owens and his NFL team, the Green Bay Packers, after they lost to the San Francisco 49ers.

The season originally got off to a slow start for the Packers, as they registered five losses in their first eight matches. However, they made quite a dramatic comeback near the tail end of their league matches, winning their last game against arch-rivals Chicago Bears.
Simone BilesGreen Bay then went on to qualify for the wild card weekend playoffs, pulling off an unexpected victory against the Dallas Cowboys 48-32. Unfortunately for the Packers, their dream run came to an end on Sunday when they came up short against the 49ers 21-24 in an enthralling match.

However, despite the loss, Simone Biles was ready to root for Owens and his team. Taking to her Instagram story, she shared an adorable video of Owens running up to her at the sidelines and giving her a kiss before heading back to the game.
