The Olympics are always an exciting time for enthusiasts to root for their favorite players. For gymnastics fans, Simone Biles has always been the GOAT across the sport. Even after her stint at the Tokyo Olympics, fans have only been hoping for a glimpse of her at the upcoming edition.

Things began looking up after Biles’ terrific performance at the World Championships in Antwerp. After swooping four gold medals off with her jaw-dropping performance, fans knew their favorite gymnast was back with a bang. But has she planned for what lies ahead for her?

In a candid interview with hosts Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson, Biles addressed the question that the world needs an answer to. Will she make an appearance at the Paris Olympics this year? While sounding hopeful, the star gave a reality check about the competition.

Simone Biles

While she did confirm she’d be there at the venue, whether she’d be present as an audience member or as a participant was unclear. She intends to join as a team member, but ultimately, it depends on the selection process.

After the Tokyo Olympics, Biles took a long break to rejuvenate and focus on her mental health. This included supporting her husband, Jonathan Owens, at his NFL matches, attending many therapy sessions, and partying hard on every occasion.

While the scenario is pretty similar currently as well, Biles takes time to rehearse at her gym. She even recently put up an impressive series of tricks on the bars and beams on her Instagram stories. This included some of her toughest moves that she pulled off with ease now that she has taken time to heal.

What caused Simone Biles to stumble?

Every gymnast needs accurate mind-body coordination to perform every single trick with finesse. However, there are certain situations where the gymnast might face a hindrance to their mind-body balance. One such case is termed ‘Twisties’. And Biles suffered a serious bout during the Tokyo Olympics.

Recalling the terrifying moment it hit her, the star gymnast opened up about how she couldn’t keep herself aware of her surroundings mid-air. Twisties are notorious for causing serious injuries, and while Biles had an upsetting experience, she’s now back with hopes and passion.

Simone Biles celebrated the New Year…asleep.

The Olympic gymnast, 26, attended a friend’s wedding only to drift into her dreams hours before midnight. On her Instagram story, Biles shared a repost from her friend Kayla Simone,

who snapped a photo of her holiday snooze.

“Not this b—-h inviting me to fly cross country for a NYE wedding only for her to be asleep before 10:30,” the friend captioned the picture.

Biles added, “I am soooooo sorry,” in her repost, and both women included laughing emojis.

Biles husband, Jonathan Owens, did not attend — the Green Bay Packers safety had a Sunday Night Football game in Wisconsin against the Minnesota Vikings.

It was the first game in a few weeks that Biles had to miss. After her gymnastics season slowed down, the 23-time world champion has been up in Wisconsin to watch Owens play multiple times in November and December, including his Dec. 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, where Taylor Swift was also in attendance to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce.

Simone Biles

The Olympic gold medalist and Owens wed on April 22, 2023, at a courthouse in Houston. A few weeks later, they threw an extravagant second wedding in Mexico.

Ever since their romance began in March 2020, Owens has supported Biles — especially following her decision to withdraw from several events at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

During an episode of Biles’ docuseries, Simone vs Herself, Owens said that one of the things he was most impressed by was Biles’ commitment to her craft.

“Her work ethic was the first thing that caught my eye. I’d never watch gymnastics before, when I first met I honestly didn’t know who she was … The coolest thing for me is that I get to witness someone who is literally at the pinnacle of their sport, it’s motivating just to see that and the impact that she has on people,” he said.

Biles and Owens first met on the dating app Raya in 2020, and the gymnast made the first move.

“He would say I slid into his DMs,” Biles told WSJ. Magazine in July 2021. “I saw him, and I was like, ‘Oh, he’s pretty cute,’ so I said hi … and then I saw that he was in the Houston area, so we started chatting a little bit, and then we went to hang out a week or two later.”

Now that Owens is playing for the Green Bay Packers, Biles has opened up about taking their relationship long distance so soon after tying the knot.

In an interview on the Today show in October, the athlete shared that she is enjoying watching her new husband from the sidelines.

“It’s been really fun supporting what he loves to do,” Biles said of Owens during the interview. “Obviously he’s in Green Bay right now. My season just ended, so I’m super excited to get out there to Green Bay for the holidays to support him.”

She also shared how her perspective on gymnastics has changed since getting married.

“Gymnastics is just something I get to come in and have the privilege of doing. I don’t feel like it’s the end all be all anymore, as before I kind of felt like that,” she explained at the time. “I get to go home to my husband, to my dogs, to my house and all of the things. So it feels really good.”

Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast to ever grace the sport, has added another feather to her cap. The American has been awarded the L’Équipe Champion of Champions for her stellar performances in 2023.

The award is presented by the French daily sports newspaper L’Équipe annually. There are four trophies up for grabs – the best female and male international sports athletes, and the best female and male French sports athletes.

For Biles, this is her fourth time winning the award, having been bestowed with the honor previously in 2016, 2018, and 2019. The gymnast’s 2023 has certainly been deserving of every recognition, given her incredible performances.

Returning to competitions after a nearly two-year long hiatus, Simone Biles stunned everyone on her comeback. She got the ball rolling with an appearance at the 2023 US Classics in August. There, she finished her campaign with 3 golds, one each in the all-around, floor, and balance-beam, and a singular bronze in the uneven bars.

Following this, Biles returned to the international stage at the 2023 Antwerp World Championships in September. The event saw her claim four golds and a silver, solidifying her position as the world’s most decorated gymnast. While in Belgium, Simone also debuted her new vault, the Yurchenko Double Pike, and the move was subsequently named the Biles II.

For her L’Équipe Champion of Champions Award, Simone Biles beat out competition from the likes of American skier Mikaela Shiffrin and legendary swimmer Katie Ledecky, who finished second and third in the “World Champion of Champions rankings.

After a case of the twisties led to an extended period away from the sport, the greatest gymnast in history returned to competition.

The best part of Simone Biles’s 2023 is 2024.

When this year began, it seemed like we might never see the greatest gymnast of all time perform again.

Biles had long been planning to end her career at the Tokyo Olympics, which the pandemic pushed to 2021. But when she developed a mental block called the twisties, which robbed her of her ability to locate herself in space and left her at risk of catastrophic injury, she had to pull out of all but one competition there. (She is Simone Biles, so even after fighting through the worst week of her career and stripping down her routine, she earned bronze on the balance beam.) On her post-Olympics tour, she performed only skills she could land safely. And then, for close to a year, she stayed away from the sport.

Gymnastics scared her, and it had stopped being fun. But in September 2022, she tentatively returned to the gym outside Houston, ostensibly to regain her fitness, but also to prove to herself that she could. She took off most of that October and November, then played around with some combinations last December.

“I really feel like [coach Laurent Landi] is always one step ahead of me,” she later said. “So every time I would come into the gym, he was like, ‘O.K., so I have some set routines for you.’ And I’m like, ‘What? I’m literally just trying to get in shape!’”

simone biles

But by January, she was ready to return to practicing twice a day. In March, around the time she turned 26, she took her other coach—Laurent’s wife, Cécile—to dinner at a Mexican restaurant to discuss a return to competition.

“When [margaritas] get in the mix, who knows what you’re gonna say?” Biles recalled with a laugh. They decided that after her May wedding to Green Bay Packers defensive back Jonathan Owens, she would “go full force,” she said. “Kind of put life on hold.”

Almost before she knew it, she found herself outside Chicago in August for the U.S. Classic—her first competition in two years and two days—where she dominated. Then it was on to the national championships, in San Jose, Calif., three weeks later, where she dominated. Then to the world championships, in Antwerp, Belgium, in October, where … you get it. In that stretch she became the first gymnast to win eight all-around U.S. titles and, in Belgium, her four gold medals—including her record-tying sixth in the all-around—and the silver she won gave her 37 medals at world championships and the Olympics, the most in history.

“I think I’m in better shape than I was in 2021,” she said. “Mentally and physically.”

But she worried that fans would not embrace her comeback. Within the gymnastics community she received plenty of support when she pulled out of the events in Tokyo, and many athletes thanked her for starting a conversation about pressure in sports. But there was no shortage of insults hurled at her online. So when every arena she entered sounded like a Taylor Swift concert, she was relieved.

“What shocks me the most is everyone’s so supportive,” she said at the U.S. Classic. “In the crowd, all the girls, all of the signs … the outpouring of love and support that I had on Twitter, on Instagram and in the arena was just really shocking and surprising to me, that they still have so much belief in me, they still love me and it just makes my heart warm, because it’s nice to come out here and have all that support, especially in a time like this where I was really nervous to compete again. I can’t ask for more.”

Cue the speculation, which Biles did her best to dodge. After the U.S. Classic, she said, “It’s just like when you get married, they ask you when you’re having a baby. You come to Classics; they’re asking you about the Olympics.” At nationals, she said with a grin, “Y’all are kind of nosy sometimes.” Biles finally admitted in September that she plans to end her comeback in Paris next year. She will compete in one more Olympics, and she will do it on her terms.

At the worlds, Biles landed her Yurchenko double pike on vault, a move so challenging that no other woman has even attempted it in competition—and so dangerous that the International Gymnastics Federation has artificially lowered its score to discourage other gymnasts from trying it and hurting themselves. Biles once said she added it to her arsenal “because I can.” It has since become her fifth eponymous skill.

Once, that sort of legacy might have been enough for her. But she found another motivation as she returned to competition. At 26, nearly every time she does anything, she breaks an age record in a sport often populated by high schoolers. Biles was the oldest woman ever to win the all-around at nationals and the oldest U.S. woman to compete at the world championships in more than 50 years. She said with experience comes a smarter training regimen and a sharper sense of purpose. (“At this point, nobody’s forcing me out here,” she said. “This is truly me.”) And as the NCAA’s name, image and likeness policy has allowed some of her national team teammates to earn money while they compete in college, prolonging their careers, the face of gymnastics is beginning to change.

“I think having me and some of the other girls that are a little bit older, and seeing what we’re doing and being more mature physically and mentally in the gym, it just gives [young gymnasts] all the hope in the world that you don’t have to peak at 16,” she said. “Your time is still coming.”

Simone Biles‘ presence on the ground has spread far and wide to gain attention across countries. Being the most decorated gymnast has brought Biles numerous awards the industry and organizations have to offer for the prowess and inspiration she yields. The 7-time Olympic medalist’s stature was honored yet again as she returned to the mats stronger and resilient.

Recently, the Global Wellness Summit celebrated Simone in her vociferous stance on mental health and well-being. Though her stand on the cause during the Olympics invited backlash, a well-backed recognition emphasized the gymnast’s right steps. Today, two months later, as the year pulls down its veneer, Biles stood to prove her excellent presence, tallying the awards’ numbers forward.

Simone Biles receives year-end honors

The International Sports Press Association (AIPS), recently announced its Athletes of the Year for the 2023 edition. Over 100 member countries of the association participated in the poll to decide the winners of the male and female categories. From a panel of 405 journalists, Simone Biles slid through to garner 353 votes and claim the first position. It was the gymnast’s 3rd time claiming the title, following previous wins in 2016 and 2019. Biles was further followed by Caitlin Clark, Iowa’s basketball star and Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati.

As for the men’s category, the Serbian star, Djokovic Novak swept up a total of 616 votes. Having established himself as one of the prominent players of Tennis, Novak rose to hold a record-extending eighth-year-end No. 1 finish in the Men’s singles World Tennis Ranking. Though the two athletes have nothing left to prove their excellence, they yet continue to tread the way ahead. While the United Open, Australian Cup, and more await the Tennis icon, Simone Biles has just one immediate goal for the upcoming year.

The gymnastic tryst in 2023

During the 2020 Olympics, Simone Biles cut her journey short to focus on her mental health. The decision extended to encompass 2 years of Simone off the mats. While the hiatus brought along uncertainties of returning, the gymnast announced her comeback in June this year. “I will always get to do whatever I want to do after my career is over,” Biles told Olympics.com“But I won’t be able to do my career forever.”

In August, she dominated the 2023 US Classic gymnastics. With 59.1, she won the all-around, while 14.8 secured her gold on the balance beam. Further, she clinched the eighth individual all-around title at the US Championships, followed by 5 medals at the Worlds. With continued momentum in place, Biles will look to grab a spot for the 2024 Olympics during the trials from June 27–30, 2024.

For the last few weeks, things have gone south for Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens after his confession about his initial days of dating Simone Biles. However, at the onset of the Green Bay Packers’ storming into the season finale on Sunday, January 7, the remembrance of the team’s safety looked more glittery. The December 19 premiered, ‘The Pivot’ podcast highlighted several nooks and crannies of Jonathan Owens’ personal life and his humble beginnings.

Meanwhile, the Podcast was fairly engaged with NFL hobnobs like Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder. All they wanted to know was the gradual transformation of the shoulders Green Bay Packers rely on. Jonathan Owens catered to them nicely.

Jonathan Owens opens up his youthhood persona

In the Pivot Podcast, Ryan ‘RC’ Clark, the former safety in Washington Commanders couldn’t hold his curiosity from the Green Bay Packers’ safety’s phantasmagoria. He threw his quest veiling in the shade of ‘starting in St. Louis and ending in Missouri Western’ wordings. Following this, Owens began reminiscing to reveal the truth. However, the extraordinary part came when he conceded: “I was  trying to get a scholarship, man because I knew my mom wasn’t going to be able to afford college so they gave me a full scholarship and I had Pell grants so I was able to get a little refund check.” That left the RC and his ilks in the room stunned.

The 28-year-old safety closed the chapter with RC’s question with an affirmative, “That was all I needed at the time you know so that was that’s how that happened”.

The quagmire settling with Jonathan Owens

In the same interview, Jonathan Owens acknowledged that his ‘flappings’ were awkward since his growing up days. The reason was simple as previously Owens divulged his childhood kenspeckle. “I was a late bloomer athletically. In high school, I was a good player on the team but I hadn’t I wasn’t like totally sure of myself yet” was his version. So the journey from that not-so-obvious childhood to get a scholarship in college was nothing short of a magic run, which has been quite the case in his Green Bay Packers’ stint.

So the ethereal sangfroid culminated in Jonathan Owens is from his mother and his humble beginnings . That part was also visible in the same vicinity that claimed uproar in the last weeks.

Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens and his wife, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, recently made an appearance on “The Pivot” podcast, where the NFL player admitted he didn’t like her at first and said she chased him.

Owens, 28, also said he didn’t know Biles was as famous or good as she is and realized it when a group of shaking girls asked him to take their picture with the GOAT of gymnastics. They met on a celebrity dating app.

“So literally, had been on the app for a couple of days, man, and it’s like she pops up and I’m like, ‘Let me see who this is’ … I had never really paid attention to gymnastics, so it piqued my curiosity,” Owens said. “I go do my workout and I come back and I have some likes on my Instagram. …

“‘Man, this gotta be fake. I didn’t know who she was at the time. But like, the first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of followers. So in my mind I’m like, ‘OK, she’s got to be good.'”

Owens also said he was the “catch” and that she eventually made him feel better about committing to a woman in his third year in the league.

Simone Biles not shy about her approach

Biles, 26, gave her side of the story and was not shy about the way she approached him, saying it was love at first swipe.

“We matched. I was just the first to message. As soon as I clicked, ‘Ooh I like him.’ It matched. So he had already liked my profile. … I wasn’t scared,” said Biles. “I know what I like and I know what I want.”

The podcast’s hosts, former NFL stars Ryan ClarkFred Taylor and Channing Crowder, called out Owens about not wanting Biles at first, but it’s all water under the bridge now.

Owens and Biles are married and she is often seen cheering on him during his NFL games, including a win against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Simone Biles is setting the record straight after fans speculated that she was expecting a baby with her husband, Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens. Biles took to her Instagram Stories on Dec. 13 to clear the air.

Fans began speculating about the four-time Olympic gold-medal-winning gymnast after she shared several pictures on Instagram on Dec. 12 of herself supporting her husband at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Owens and the Packers were playing against the New York Giants, and Biles shared the post with the caption, “Monday night football.”

The 26-year-old Olympian was sporting a beanie with her husband’s number “34” on the front and a baggy army jacket paired with a brown turtleneck and matching leggings. Fans quickly began speculating in the comment section that Biles was pregnant, but she shut it down with a post in her Instagram Stories the following day.

“I hate that I even have to address this,” wrote Biles. “But please stop commenting on this photo or my Instagram in general about me being ‘pregnant.’ I’m not pregnant.”

Biles and Owens were married back in April, and she has been a frequent supporter at his football games. After it was revealed that pop star Taylor Swift was dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and she began showing up to support him at his games, fans inevitably made comparisons on social media between the two famous couples.

After the Chiefs played the Packers on Dec. 3, fans weighed in. One fan wrote, “I’d rather have Simone Biles on our side than Taylor Swift any day of the week.” The fan also shared a video of Biles receiving a goat hat from a fan in the stands.

“Hi, Simone. What a pleasure to meet you,” said the fan. “You are the greatest of all time. I had to make you something, Okay? You are the GOAT.”

With that, the fan gave Biles a goat hat with “Biles” and “Goat” written on the sides. The fan also gifted Biles a Green Bay Packer hat with Owens’ name on the front.

Biles graciously accepted the gifts and posed for pictures wearing the goat hat, and Owens and his team beat the Chiefs 27-19. Biles says she enjoys supporting Owens at his football games and was excited to be there during the holidays.

“It’s been really fun supporting what he loves to do,” she said. “Obviously, he’s in Green Bay right now so my season just ended. I’m super excited to get out there to Green Bay for the holidays to support him.”

Biles and Owens were married at a courthouse in April but had another wedding ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in May.

Simone Biles calmly and firmly shut down social media commenters asking if she was pregnant with a post on her Instagram Story on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old Olympic gold medalist responded to comments about her appearance in a post, writing, “I hate that I even have to address this.”

“But please stop commenting on this photo or my Instagram in general about me being ‘pregnant,’ ” Biles, who tied the knot with Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens earlier this year, wrote.

She ended the post by making it as clear as possible, and writing, “I’m not pregnant.”

Biles also shared the post in question in her Story, which was a carousel of photos of the gymnast at MetLife Stadium for the Packers’ Monday night matchup against the New York Giants.

“Monday Night Football,” Biles wrote in the caption, which was originally posted to her feed on Tuesday.

Owens’ Packers fell to the Giants 22-24 on Monday, but Biles couldn’t be more proud of her husband. She sported a black beanie with his No. 34 to represent the NFL player, and she’s been a vocal supporter of his team throughout the season.

When Biles was in attendance at the team’s recent win over the the Kansas City Chiefs 27-19, she shared a series of photos on Instagram, where she’s seen alongside the Packers’ safety and cheering for him on the sidelines.

“To a packers win babyyyyy,” she wrote.

Biles and Owens got legally married at a courthouse in April, just one month before tying the knot again in an elaborate ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Since then, the two have remained long distance as Owens signed with the Packers in May, after previously playing for their hometown Houston Texans.

Throughout their long-distance marriage, Biles has attended several of Owens’ games. She shared in an interview on the Today show in October that she enjoys watching her new husband from the sidelines.

“It’s been really fun supporting what he loves to do,” she added. “Obviously, he’s in Green Bay right now so my season just ended. I’m super excited to get out there to Green Bay for the holidays to support him.”

She also shared how her perspective on gymnastics has changed since getting married.

“Gymnastics is just something I get to come in and have the privilege of doing. So it feels really good.”

Fans speculated that the Olympic gymnast was pregnant following her most recent Instagram post.

Simone Biles is shutting down rumors that she is expecting their first child. On Tuesday, the 26-year-old Olympic gold medalist took to Instagram to share a series of photos of her cheering on her husband Jonathan Owens from the stands at MetLife Stadium during the Packers’ Monday night matchup against the New York Giants.

In the photos, captioned “Monday Night Football,” Biles sported a beanie with Owens’ number. However, fans quickly flooded the comments with speculation that the gymnast was pregnant. “Baby on board,” read one comment. “Is she expecting?? I’m so happy for them!!” wrote another. “Picture is sending baby vibes,” someone else commented.

The following day, Biles was forced to acknowledge the rumors on her Instagram stories. “I hate that I even have to address this,” she wrote. “But please stop commenting on this photo or my Instagram in general about me being ‘pregnant.’ I’m not pregnant.”

Many fans also came to Biles’ defense. One comment that the Houston native liked read: “It is so incredibly rude to assume a woman is pregnant without her mentioning it. We only see what she chooses to post. You have no idea what may be going on in someone’s life.” Another read: “Why are y’all thinking she’s pregnant?? She’s literally competing in the Olympics so I doubt she’s thinking about having a baby [right now]??”

Back in April, Biles and Owens were legally married at a courthouse in Houston, a month before they tied the knot again in a lavish ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Since then, the gymnastics legend has attended several of Owens’ games.

In an interview with the Today show in October, Biles said she enjoys watching her husband from the sidelines. She also opened up about how her perspective on gymnastics has changed since getting married. “I don’t feel like it’s the end all be all anymore, as before I kind of felt like that,” she said. “I get to go home to my husband, to my dogs, to my house and all of the things.
