From spending childhood in West Baltimore, one of the most crime-ridden cities in the world, to owning every boxing fight he has been a part of, Gervonta Davis has come a long way. When Davis declared that he was the ‘Face of boxing’, he was not exaggerating. Davis recently defeated Ryan Garcia, another extremely popular fighter. When Garcia was knocked out, it served as a reminder of why ‘Tank’ is one of the best. Everyone Tank has fought has suffered defeat at his hands, but it might have even helped his opponents progress further according to another fighter.

Keyshawn Davis, while in a conversation with FightHypeTV, spoke about Tank Davis’ impact on the people he has fought and apparently, it is huge. Let us see what he had to say.

Gervonta Davis’ team knows how to build stars according to Keyshawn Davis

When asked for his thoughts on Frank Martin being a potential opponent for Tank in March, Davis admitted, “I just love the fact that, you know they call it side of the street so, I just love the fact that on that side of the street, they know how to build stars,” emphasizing Tank’s promotional team’s ability to create “stars.” Davis then highlighted some names that struggled for recognition in the past.

Davis pointed out Isaac Cruz, stating, “When you look at Isaac Cruz, nobody knew Isaac Cruz til he fought Tank.” He reiterated the same example for Mario Barrios and Rolando “Rolly” Romero, who fought Tank back in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Discussing the post-fight impact of facing Tank, Keyshawn commented, “Those guys become stars and make more money than they ever would have expected. So I just like on that side how they create stars,” underscoring the financial and fame benefits gained after challenging the Lightweight champion.

Gervonta Davis

But a fight with Gervonta Davis does not come cheap. There is a prize to pay, according to him.

Gervonta Davis sets conditions for fighting in Saudi Arabia

The Middle East has become a hotspot for boxing events. Having successfully hosted the crossover fight between heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou, Saudi Arabia gained the leverage to host additional events. Subsequently, they organized a formidable card featuring Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. Presently, the Saudis have expressed an interest in hosting Gervonta Davis for a fight. However, Davis appears hesitant and has even outlined his conditions.

The southpaw has let the people know on his social media that he would need many expensive gifts. He said, They made me mad, if they want me they gotta send me something to my front door..like 2 Ferraris or something!” Davis has enough pull and fame to ask for gifts like these considering the PPV numbers he is able to pull.

Do you genuinely believe that Gervonta Davis turns everyone he fights into stars? Or is Keyshawn perhaps exaggerating the Tank’s impact and fame?

Gervonta Davis has seemingly ruled out a potential fight with Devin Haney in the future in an exchange with a fan on social media.

The Baltimore native is undefeated with a 29-0 record and 27 knockouts after defeating Ryan Garcia by KO in Las Vegas, Nevada in April. Since then, he has been weighing up his next big fight after spending 44 days in prison in 2023.

At the start of May, Davis was sentenced over his November 2020 hit-and-run car crash which injured four people. However, he accepted a plea deal and pled guilty to four traffic offences, meaning he avoided a custodial sentence. But he was sent to jail for violating the terms and has since been released.

The WBC super lightweight champion – also known as Abdul Wahid – is now plotting his next fight to take place in the UK and is not interested in Haney being his opponent.

On Sunday, Davis posted a gif image to his social media account of a man throwing a glass of wine, which appeared to be related to his NFL team, the Baltimore Ravens, who were beaten in the AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

One of his fans took it as an opportunity to plead to Davis to set up a mouthwatering clash with Devin Haney, who has held multiple world championship titles in different weight classes.

“GIVE US DAVIS vs HANEY U GAH DO IT FOR DA CITY CHAMP,” the user wrote on X.

But Davis issued an expletive-ridden response, writing: “B**** f*** Haney..where my crack pipe at”, suggesting he wasn’t on board with the idea despite reports of a $20 million purse.

Gervonta Davis continues trash talk with Devin Haney

Davis’ response should not come as a surprise, as the 29-year-old has engaged in several public spats with Haney on social media with no signs of it cooling down anytime soon.

A recent post on X from Davis aimed at Haney claimed imitation, sparking a swift and cutting response from the latter.

Gervonta Davis

Davis threw the first punch with a tweet asserting, “All them lil n****s wanna be like me…I’m their biggest test…so they don’t want to admit but you can peep.”

This not only fuelled discussions within the boxing community but also hinted at a perceived reluctance from Haney to face Davis in the ring. And his most recent barb at his fellow boxer only confirms his stance.

In the boxing world, rivalries often spill beyond the ring. Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney’s feud is no exception. Recently, a fan’s plea for a showdown led to Davis’s bizarre tweet. His words? Unexpected and controversial. But it’s the response from Devin’s corner that stirs the pot further.

Bill Haney, Devin’s father, steps into the fray. His reaction? A simple, yet potent, two-word message. What did he say? Why did it turn heads?

Bill always comes back against Gervonta Davis

Gervonta Davis recently escalated the tension with a tweet that left many fans and followers stunned. Addressing a fan’s call for a bout with Devin Haney, Davis retorted, “B*tch f**k Haney..where my crack pipe at.” This provocative statement instantly ignited a flurry of reactions across the boxing community, highlighting Davis’ penchant for controversy.

Seizing the moment, Bill Haney, the father and coach of Devin Haney, swiftly responded. He posted an edited picture of Gervonta Davis on his Instagram story. Accompanying this image was a concise yet piercing two-word message: “Wellness check?” This subtle jab from Haney Sr. was more than just a reply; it was a strategic move in the psychological warfare that often accompanies high-stakes boxing rivalries

Gervonta Davis

The transition from a direct, albeit unconventional, challenge by Davis to a nuanced response from Bill Haney underscores the complex dynamics of boxing rivalries. Not so long ago, Bill called out both Davis and Shakur.

Bill Haney’s bold accusations expand the rivalry

Bill Haney recently intensified the rivalry, not just between the fighters but also among their trainers. In a stirring social media post, he targeted the trainers of Gervonta Davis, Abdul Wahid, and ‘Sugar’ Stevenson, with a bold accusation. “Calvin Ford and Wally Moses are scared to death to fight Dev and they don’t want to fight each other either. Who them dummies think they fooling?” Haney challenged.

This move shifted the narrative, suggesting that the animosity extends beyond the boxers to their coaching teams. While Haney and Stevenson previously expressed an interest in a matchup, complications arose over financial disagreements. After Haney’s recent call-out to ‘Tank’ following his win over Prograis, the dynamics among fighters and trainers have become more intriguing, hinting at deeper layers of rivalry and strategy.

How will these verbal sparrings translate inside the ring? Will this heightened drama lead to the much-anticipated showdown, or will it remain confined to social media?

There is a lot of commotion amok in the lighter-weight classes at the moment. Who will fight whom? Well, that’s a valid question fighters have grappled with for a while now. However, a fresh dubiety has emerged. Who will not fight whom? In a fresh set of attacks, Bill Haney, father and trainer of Devin Haney, took digs at the fighter’s contemporaries, suggesting why they would not fight his son and each other.

Last year was monumental for ‘The Dream.’ After defeating Vasyl Lomachenko via a controversial unanimous decision in May, he went up the weight to challenge WBC super light titlist, Regis Prograis. In a stumping December showdown, the Las Vegas-based fighter snatched the title via another unanimous decision. In the wake of it, while most assumed that his route to his elite contemporaries like Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson would open up, the possibility of those fights dropped like cards. Still sour from those setbacks, the leader of his camp, his father, Bill spared no words in shading Davis and Stevenson. However, this time, he came up with something brazen.

Bill Haney and his Indirect-Direct Attacks

devin haney

Senior Haney brewed some serious tea in his recent X post. Roping in the trainers of Davis, now, Abdul Wahid and ‘Sugar’ Stevenson, respectively, Bill Haney wrote, “Calvin Ford and Wally Moses are scared to death to fight Dev and they don’t want to fight each other either. Who them dummies think they fooling?.” It is interesting how until now most fans assumed that the animosity between these fighters was limited to only them. But now, with his claims, he has extended this hostility to his counterparts in the trainer leagues too.

Earlier, both Stevenson and Haney showed interest in fighting each other. However, reports later suggested that Stevenson pulled out of the confrontation, unhappy with the purse split ratios. Later, right after the Regis Prograis win, Haney called on ‘Tank’ for a fight in an instigating post on social media. While Davis did show interest in getting the bout rolling, promoter Eddie Hearn later revealed that the Baltimore-based fighter was not too keen on the fight.

Since then, another key player in his weight class, Ryan Garcia came forward to fight him. However, that too will not see the light of the day now. Why? Let’s find out.

Ryan Garcia’s fight falls through for The Dream

Right before 2023 ended, Garcia’s feeding promoter, Oscar De La Hoya was positive about getting the anticipated Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia fight happen. While both the fighters had assented to it, Garcia at a later stage pulled out. Instead of fighting ‘The Dream,’ the Californian chose Rolando Romero as his opponent. With that, Devin Haney lost another key opponent.

While the Haney clan continues to look for another opponent befitting of their star player’s potential, it becomes crucial to see where their search leads them. Haney stands at a juncture that could either take him to world domination or signal his plummet in the sport of boxing.

Imagine a sparring session from 2015 suddenly igniting today’s boxing talks. This is the story of a tweet, a video, and a mix-up. The video? Nine-year-old Curmel Moton and ten-year-old Robert Meriwether in a heated sparring duel. The tweet? A claim of Floyd Mayweather’s presence, watching over these young talents.

But wait, was it really Mayweather? Curmel Moton jumped into the ring of social media to set the record straight. What did he reveal? And why does it matter who was in the background?

9-year-old Curmel Moton was a force to reckon with!

The center of this digital ringside is a tweet that transported the boxing community back to a 2015 gym scene. A user posted, “9-year-old Curmel Moton sparring with 10-year-old Robert Meriwether back in 2015. With Floyd Mayweather in the other ring shadow boxing 🔥🔥🔥🔥.” This caption set the stage, suggesting the legendary Floyd Mayweather’s presence as a witness to the young talent’s early endeavors.

However, Curmel Moton, whose professional record now boasts 2 fights and 2 knockouts, swiftly entered the fray to correct this narrative. Demonstrating his attentiveness to details, both in and out of the ring, Moton tweeted in response, “That’s tank not Floyd.” This concise yet impactful correction shifted the focus from Mayweather to Gervonta Davis, another prominent figure in the boxing world and a key figure in Mayweather’s training camp.

Speed for speed

In a revealing recollection, Curmel Moton reflected on a defining sparring session with Gervonta Davis, a memory that stands out in his early boxing journey. “I was nervous at first,” Moton admitted, recalling the anticipation of facing Davis at just 15 years old. However, the encounter unfolded as a harmonious dance of agility rather than brute force“But we was going like, he was using the speed on me. Like we was both going speed for speed,” Moton described the session.

Contrary to expectations, Davis didn’t unleash his full power. “He wasn’t really like trying to knock me out or nothing like that,” Moton shared, likening the experience to a “chess match” – a strategic and intellectual exchange that proved to be both fun and profoundly instructive for the young boxer.vcd

What other lessons and experiences from his formative years will shape his future in the ring? How will these early influences manifest in his upcoming matches?

What the world has been waiting for may finally happen soon! The boxing community is buzzing with the potential return to the ring for Gervonta Davis. The WBA lightweight champion hasn’t fought since April 2023 against Ryan Garcia, giving the world a spectacular seventh-round knockout. Things had started looking good for the undefeated boxer after that. But tragedy struck!

‘Tank’ Davis violated house arrest regulations concerning his 2021 hit-and-run case. So, he was sentenced to 44 days in a Baltimore jail and failed to appear in the ring for the rest of 2023. His coach, Calvin Ford, suffered a similar fate recently, putting his return in question. However, according to a report from Ring Magazine, Davis may be in the talks to fight sometime in the coming summer. Interestingly, the fight may take place in the UK, something that became even clearer after Davis shot down reports of his next fight in Las Vegas by Boxing Kingdom. So, it begs the question – which British boxer Davis will face?

Two best choices for Gervonta Davis

While there’s no official confirmation on Davis’ part about his next opponent, Josh Taylor has a good chance of appearing in the opposite corner from Davis. The Londoner is coming off his first career loss at the hands of Teofimo Lopez, held in June 2023. Previously, Davis was speculated to take on the winner of this fight if he decided to climb up to 140 pounds. However, since his UK fight narrows down the options, the former undisputed super lightweight champion isn’t a bad match.

Gervonta Davis

On the other hand, Jack Catterall could be a good match for Davis. They have almost identical records, leaving Catterall’s one loss that came from the previously mentioned Taylor. Catterall last fought in October, winning the fight via unanimous decision. Moreover, one other option for Davis could be Chirs Eubank Jr.’s cousin Harlem Eubank, who is coming off a win over Timo Schwarzkopf in November 2023. That aside, this won’t be Davis’ first fight in the UK.

Davis’ last trip to the UK

The only time ‘Tank’ Davis had to go out of his home country for a fight was back in 2017. Davis had defeated Jose Pedraza in the same year and was on the prowl for his next victim with his newly acquired IBF super featherweight title. So, he decided to take on the then-undefeated Liam Walsh in the Copper Box Arena in London.

‘Tank’ famously failed to make the weight, which prompted his eventual move to the lightweight division. When they finally met in the ring on 20 May, Davis knocked out Walsh in the third round after assessing him for the first two. It’s been seven years since that fight in the UK took place, and Davis seems primed to visit the English land again. With rumors of Gervonta Davis’ return to the ring, these were the two names he might be facing next. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean Davis will fight them. Who do you think Davis will fight next?

Gervonta Davis next fight is reportedly being planned to take place in the UK.

The 29-year-old American boxing star won a breakout fight last year as he knocked out Ryan Garcia in their Las Vegas PPV blockbuster.

However, Davis has not returned to the ring since that victory in April.

This is because he spent 44 days in prison after violating the terms of a sentence that initially saw him set to avoid being jailed.

At the start of May, Davis was sentenced over his November 2020 hit-and-run car crash which injured four people.

Because he accepted a plea deal and pled guilty to four traffic offences, he avoided a custodial sentence.

Tank was instead ordered to fulfil 90 days of home detention, with three years’ probation, plus 200 hours of community service.

However, not even a month later, Davis was sent to prison after all.

He was adjudged to have violated the terms of his home detention order and was ordered to serve the rest of his 90-day sentence in jail as a result.

Gervonta Davis

It was revealed that he violated the terms by trying to serve the home detention order at the Four Seasons Hotel and a $3.4million penthouse, rather than trainer Calvin Ford’s one-bedroom home as the judge agreed.

Upon being released, Davis has spoken out on social media several times to express his anger about the restrictions he’s still facing and how they have prevented him from returning to training at times.

However, he’s now back in the gym and news emerged of plans for his next fight.

According to Ring Magazine, Tank’s return is being eyed for this summer in the UK.

At this point, no further details are known.

He previously boxed in London in 2017 when he knocked out Liam Walsh in his first world title defence as a 21-year-old.

Now that he’s developed into a major star, British boxing fans would no doubt welcome his return to the country.

When will Gervonta Davis fight next? Reports have emerged suggesting that the WBA Light titlist is looking at making a comeback in the sport in the summer this year, and it will not be in his home country. In April last year, the southpaw defeated Ryan Garcia in a 7th-round knockout. The undefeated fighter registered his career’s 29th win and his opponent’s first. Soon after the fight, ‘Tank’ was sentenced to a 90-day home detention at his trainer’s home for a 2020 hit-and-run crash.

However, he was ordered to spend the last 44 days behind bars for not following the court’s orders. After completing his sentence, the fighter announced that he’d remain out of the ring for the remainder of the year to work on himself. Having done that, his exile from the sport is set to end. What are the details of this comeback?

Gervonta Davis and his big return

Ring TV has reported that the 29-year-old, now named Abdul Wahid, will return to the ring in this year’s summer. However, he will not undertake a fight in the US. Instead, the publication suggests it will be a fight organized in the UK. While no opponent has doubled down yet, there are a plethora of fighters who’ve put their names in the hat to take on Tank.

Earlier, talks of his return on March 30th had intensified. Conjecture suggests that the Baltimore-based fighter will headline PBC’s first PPV event with Amazon Prime. As his opponent, Frank Martin’s name had picked momentum, Before that, Devin Haney had called on him for a fight on his X. While Davis agreed to fight in its initial stages, promoter Eddie Hearn later revealed that the fighter was not too keen on it. In a conversation with Boxing Social, the English promoter, based on his conversation with Tank, noted, “So that was it really. So I don’t think he’s very interested in a Devin Haney fight, but who knows?”

Furthermore, his trainer, Calvin Ford, shot down the idea of a clash between his fighter and Shakur Stevenson. To Marko Boxing, he noted, “His last fight got that out of my mind. That performance, I don’t even want to think about it. It was horrible; it was a bad night for boxing that night. Why would I put ‘Tank’ in a situation like that? When we can’t do what we do [and entertain fans].”, In November last year, Stevenson defeated Edwin De Los Santos via UD. However, his lack of control over the fight came heavily under the scanner.

That’s about the fights Tank could have had in hindsight. However, the interesting point of his summer return to the UK is the location. While Turki Alalshikh wanted to bring the fighters to Saudi Arabia, Davis shot down the idea. Why?

Ferraris for a Saudi fight

In a now-deleted X post, the 93.1% KO fighter wrote, “They made me mad; if they want me, they gotta send me something to my front door..like 2 Ferraris or something! like before, I even think about going over there.”

While his indication seemed vague, a fan asked if he was scared to fight in Saudi Arabia. To which the fighter replied, “Nope, I’m the one with the power [smirk emoji].”

Who will Tank fight against next? A question that many implore. Who do you think it should be? Let us know in the comments section below.

Gervonta Davis’ coach Calvin Ford has explained why he is not keen on a fight between ‘Tank’ and Shakur Stevenson, after watching the latter pick up the WBC lightweight title in disappointing fashion.

Stevenson outpointed Edwin De Los Santos in November in what was meant to be Stevenson’s breakthrough bout to announce himself to the lightweight scene, but some viewers were left wanting more, despite doing enough to become three-division champion.

The negative style of the 26-year-old broke unwanted punch records and led to a heap of criticism, with a lack of activity in the fight having a direct impact on Stevenson’s popularity and star power.

As a result, Calvin Ford has admitted that a fight between Davis and Stevenson is not an idea that he is too fond of, telling Marko Boxing that he at least wants Tank’s opponents to attempt to ‘put on a show’ and fearing that if Stevenson fought that style against a power-puncher in De Los Santos, he would be even more dull against someone with the knockout record of Tank.

Gervonta Davis

Should Davis choose to remain at lightweight, a fight between the two Americans seems almost inevitable, with Stevenson chasing the belts in an attempt to become the undisputed champion.

However, Davis could instead opt to vacate his WBA title and move up to 140lbs to pursue Devin Haney and his WBC super-lightweight title.

Gervonta Davis hasn’t fought since his impressive seventh-round knockout of Ryan Garcia last April and now Shawn Porter isn’t sure that he will be able to make the super fight many fans want to see, claiming ‘neither of them want it right now.’

Davis is one of the brightest and biggest stars in boxing right now. He has won titles in three weight classes from super featherweight to light welterweight and is a hard puncher with great IQ who has stopped the likes of Leo Santa Cruz and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

The current lightweight champion last fought at a catchweight against Garcia and after his one fight at super lightweight against Mario Barrios in 2021, he said he would not go back up to 140lbs, which is where one opponent fans want to see him face is currently fighting.

Gervonta Davis

That man is Devin Haney, the unified champion, and speaking to ProBox TV, Porter has said that should the two meet it would have to be at a catchweight, while Haney has said Davis only talks when he has a fight scheduled.

Porter then claimed there might be one man Haney would take on at 140lbs right now.

For his part, Davis has opened the negotiations for a fight with Haney by saying he wants ‘two Ferraris.”
