Francis Ngannou has vowed to target Anthony Joshua’s chin when they fight in Saudi Arabia on March 8 with plenty on the line for both fighters.

The card — dubbed “Knockout Chaos”– will also feature Joseph Parker against Zhilei Zhang as the co-main event.

Former UFC champion Ngannou is out to prove his impressive performance against Tyson Fury in October — when he knocked the WBC champion down in the third round — was no fluke.

“I’m just a beginner out here that’s going to train really hard and come as an underdog to win the fight,” Ngannou said at a news conference on Monday. “Yes the Tyson Fury fight was great, it was awesome, but that’s now in the past and I have a new challenge in front of me.

“I take it even more serious now than before because I think there’s something more on the line.”

Ngannou made no secret of how he’ll target Joshua and as a novice boxer, knows his biggest strength is his knockout power.

“Yes I heard that he [Joshua] doesn’t have a chin, I don’t know if it’s true or not. We’re going to find out, I hope I have the opportunity to test that out. In the fight you try to hit somebody in the chin or wherever you can hit him.

Anthony Joshua

“Maybe I will do something that nobody has done before and I really think I have the tools to do that, starting with a win against AJ.”

For Joshua, fighting again less than three months after the win over Otto Wallin, shows yet again his desire to keep active. A more convincing win over Ngannou than Fury could manage will be another building block in his pursuit to becoming a three time world champion.

“Every fight leads to somewhere. This fight is my everything,” Joshua said. “We’ll see where it leads me. Right now I’m not thinking about any champ belts or anything. My main focus is Francis and to be fair getting through intense focused training camp.”

Joshua also confirmed he will work with trainer Ben Davison again after the pair linked up prior to the victory over Wallin.

Joshua had agreed to a deal to fight former world champion Deontay Wilder before the Dec. 23 card but Wilder’s unanimous defeat to Parker ruined those plans.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said as soon as Wilder lost, a fight with Ngannou became a very real prospect. The new deal didn’t take long to make.

“As soon as that show finished, his excellency [Saudi Prince Turki Al Alshaikh] said to myself and Frank [Warren] ‘we need to talk,'” Hearn said. “[He said] ‘What is the biggest fight we can do on March 8th?’ It’s this one.

“There’s big jeopardy in this fight. This man [Joshua] is going to be the undisputed heavyweight world champion. I truly believe that. But he’s doing it the difficult way going through obstacles and what some might say an immovable object.

Warren also predicts fireworks and believes the bout will end in a knockout either way, hinting the winner could go on to face the winner of Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, who face off next month.

“For AJ I think he’s in a tough fight. I think there will be a knockout. They’ve both got bombs in their hands. For the winner — his excellency said — the big fight that’s happening on [Feb.17] with Tyson and Usyk… the winner of that, would we like to see them against the winner of this fight?

“Everybody in this room would love to see that, everyone in boxing would love to see that.”

Anthony Joshua has been told by Francis Ngannou that his win against Otto Wallin didn’t prove he can fight well under pressure.

Former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua is booked to fight Ngannou just weeks after his stunning knockout win over Wallin. ‘AJ’ had a brilliant 2023 campaign as he bounced back after consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk by winning fights against Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius and Wallin.

Ngannou will make his second boxing appearance against Joshua after coming within touching distance of beating Tyson Fury when he made his ring debut last October. The former UFC champion admitted that he was impressed by Joshua’s win against Wallin but isn’t confident the Brit is back to his old destructive style.

“He looked amazing, respect to him and congratulations to him. He was doing his job properly, his speed was there and he was very sharp. On the other hand, I think there wasn’t a response in front of him. I think I will have a better response in front of him that will put him in uncomfortable situations and positions,” Ngannou said on The MMA Hour.

“Things will change and be different. I will not just stay there and look at him, it’s going to be different. I’m going to throw some bombs out there for him to deal with. I think he’s going to be mindful of what he’s doing. Nobody still knows what I can do, that was my first fight in boxing and like anyone else I am just improving. The gap of improvement for a beginner like me is huge.”

Ngannou dropped Fury in their fight and only lost by a single point in a controversial decision. The former UFC champion is hoping to beat Joshua and rematch Fury, insisting their second fight must take place by October. Ngannou is unsure whether Joshua will be able to take the same punches that Fury as he questioned the Brit’s chin.

“Not that he’s not a strong fighter. He’s a very tough fighter, but he’s easier to send down than Fury, and it’s harder for him to get back up than Fury. If AJ takes the punch that Fury took, I don’t guarantee that he is getting up. I have heard that he doesn’t have a chin, I am going to find out,” Ngannou added.

Francis Ngannou has vowed to show his performance against Tyson Fury wasn’t a fluke as he prepares to face Anthony Joshua.

Fury was shockingly taken the distance by former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou in their crossover fight last year. The Brit was expected to cruise past Ngannou and fight Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed belts two months after, but he was dropped and only won by one point in a scrutinised decision.

Fans were quick to downplay Ngannou’s performance by insisting that Fury didn’t train properly for the fight and had an off-night. Ngannou has responded to his critics by tweeting: “He got lucky last time. He won’t be able to block out the noise this time. He can’t do it again, can he? We’ll see. Camp has started.”

Joshua was expected to face Deontay Wilder after knocking out Otto Wallin last month but their two-fight deal was ruined when Wilder lost to Joseph Parker. Ngannou took Wilder’s spot and will now face Joshua on March 8 in Saudi Arabia to close out Riyadh season. Ngannou was impressed by Joshua’s recent win but explained why their fight will be different.

Tyson Fury

Joshua wants to challenge either Fury or Oleksandr Usyk for their undisputed heavyweight world titles if he beats Ngannou. The former UFC champion is hoping to rematch Fury if he beats ‘AJ’ insisted their second fight must take place by October, which seems unlikely given Fury is locked into a two-fight deal with Usyk.

MMA veteran Francis Ngannou will push for a future rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury – and it doesn’t matter if Fury is successful in his upcoming assignment.

On February 17, Fury will collide with WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA world champion Oleksandr Usyk. The winner will become the first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis.

Ngannou is also scheduled for action, when he takes on former two-time champion Anthony Joshua on March 8.

Tyson Fury

Both events will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Last October, Ngannou made his professional debut against Fury in a ten round contest.

In a shocker, Ngannou dropped Fury in the third round and made it a very competitive fight until the end. Fury came away with a close split decision win.

“I’m not looking for the winner of Tyson Fury (and Usyk),” Ngannou told TMZ. “I’m looking for Tyson. Tyson owes me a fight. I don’t give a sh!t about the winner of Usyk and Tyson. I’m coming after Tyson. Win or lose, I want Tyson.”

Ngannou realizes that Joshua will be very well prepared for his style.

“He’s seen me box already, so he knows a little bit what is coming after,” Ngannou said. “Unlike Tyson Fury, that was out of the blue, didn’t know what to expect. Joshua kind of knows what to expect. I think this time I need to put it up even more to get the job done.”

And Ngannou has no issues with the oddsmakers making him a tremendous underdog with Joshua.

“I’m going in against a former champion, against a guy that’s been in the game for so long, winning, and all this stuff,” Ngannou said. “I think he’s 30-something and I’m 0-1. Come on, man. How do you make me a favorite?”

Francis Ngannou is not letting the doubters get to him once again.

In a combat sports career and an overall life filled with overcoming the odds and proving people wrong, Ngannou is again staying supremely focused and confident.

Readying for his sophomore professional boxing bout by taking on generational great/ former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, ‘The Predator’ took to social media to show he sees what the haters are saying and frankly does not care.

Via his personal X account @francis_ngannou, Ngannou said:

FRANCIS NGANNOU has sensationally been backed by one of Anthony Joshua’s former sparring partners to win their fight.

Ngannou takes to the boxing ring for only the second time in March to face two-time heavyweight champion AJ.

It comes after he floored Tyson Fury in October, only to lose a controversial decision.

And Martin Bakole – who sparred with Fury before the fight after years of gym rounds with Joshua – fancies Ngannou’s chances.

Anthony Joshua

Bakole, 30, told iFL TV: “He [Fury] took Ngannou easy, not too serious.

“He thought he would stop him by round five but Ngannou took it serious and thought that if he stops Tyson Fury he will make a name for himself in boxing.

“To be honest, Joshua is going to be different because Joshua saw Ngannou was coming to box as well, he will take it serious.

“Ngannou as well is coming into it, wanting to make a name for himself in boxing, everyone is surprised after the Tyson Fury fight.

“He is a good man, he has got a good heart and he’s got everything up there, if he lands on Joshua, I think that he will stop him because this time he is taking it seriously as well and he will be working hard.”

Fury, 35, picked himself up from the canvas and a split-decision saw him keep his unification with Oleksandr Usyk, 36, alive on February 17.

Heavyweight title hopeful Martin Bakole has offered his prediction ahead of the recently announced crossover fight between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou, where he believes that the fight will end inside the distance.

Ngannou shocked the world when he knocked down Tyson Fury in the third-round of a fight that was expected to be a one-sided win for the WBC champion, before losing a disputed split-decision.

Anthony Joshua

Now, the former UFC superstar has the opportunity to go one better and defeat Joshua, to put the world of boxing on notice, with their fight coming out of the blue and formally announced last week.

In an interview with iFL TV, Bakole shared his intrigue and excitement at the bout, pondering how Ngannou will fare against an opponent who takes him more seriously, and predicting an upset.

Joshua-Ngannou will take place on March 8th in Riyadh, whilst Bakole has announced his ambitions to challenge Manuel Charr for the WBA Regular heavyweight title, as he continues to pursue world honours.

To think there are UFC fans out there that are still saying Francis Ngannou “fumbled the bag” when he rejected to sign a new contract in order to do his own thing is beyond understanding. He already won more than whathe earned during his entire UFC career with a single boxing match against Tyson Fury. After that spectacular debut, he landed another mega fight against Anthony Joshua as his second-ever boxing match. Riyadh sports events organizers are the ones we can all thank for that, they know what type of events people want to see worldwide. But there are many lingering questions about this event that still need to be covered.

How much is the Ngannou vs Joshua purse worth?

According to a recent report from Forbes, the estimated purse of the Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou purse will be worth an estimated $70 million. That won’t be split into two equal parts, Joshua is the one with the most prestige in boxing and he is the biggest box office draw. From that purse, the Brit is getting a reported $50 million while Ngannou is getting $20 million. All of this will be before pay-per-view sales. Once we know how well the fight does with viewership, we will know a more exct number of how much each fighter is getting paid for this event.

With both parties confirmed to have agreed on this fight, we can already offer some more details of the event that is taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A place that has slowly become the world’s boxing capital. Ngannou and Joshua will face each other on Friday, March 8 in a 12-round fight. This event is taking place on a Friday because the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit is taking place on the same weekend. The main event is starting at 13:30 PST but the undercard is expected to start four hours before that. As far as the broadcast goes, DAZN PPV will be the ones hosting the vent.

MMA veteran Francis Ngannou is scheduled to collide with former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

However, Ngannou has not forgotten about a potential rematch with WBC world champion Tyson Fury.

Last October, Ngannou made his professional boxing debut against Fury.

Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion, dropped Fury in the third round and made it a very competitive fight for the entire ten rounds.

After the smoke had cleared, Fury came away with a razor-close split decision victory.

Ngannou believes he did enough to win the fight and called out for an immediate rematch.

On the other hand, Fury is set to collide with WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA champion Oleksandr Usyk in a high-stakes undisputed fight on February 17 in Riyadh.

Regardless of who wins, there is a rematch clause where a second fight is likely to happen near the end of the year.

Ngannou wants a second fight with Fury regardless of the outcome of the upcoming fight with Usyk.

“It’s going to happen,” Ngannou said on The MMA Hour. “I mean there’s Fury and [Oleksandr] Usyk, even then we spoke about it. There’s Fury and Usyk going on, so [the Joshua fight] was like an opportunity. I was waiting for Fury, but this was the opportunity that I was happy to take, I [asked] for. And at the end of the day, this won’t take anything away from the Fury rematch.

“[The rematch has] never been right away. I think there’s even a slight chance that the ‘right away’ is the Usyk rematch. Because I think their term is even closer, our rematch term was in one year. Within one year. Which is still gonna be in October this year.”

Francis Ngannou made a huge impact on his boxing debut, and he has earned another huge fight in the squared circle where he will take on British heavyweight Anthony Joshua. The pair look set to meet in a huge heavyweight clash in Saudi Arabia in March, which will come just six months after the ex-UFC star scored a huge knockdown against Tyson Fury in his debut in the sport, which sent shockwaves through the division.

Ngannou earned a WBC ranking despite falling short on the final judges scorecards, and he will now have a big opportunity to propel his name into even further stardom. AJ himself is in good form, having won his last three fights including a stoppage demolition of Otto Wallin, which is considered his most convincing performance in the last couple of years. But ‘The Predator’ fancies his chances and has compared the size of the task to facing the ‘Gypsy King’ in October.
