Crawford was participating in Team Watson’s Celebrity Charity Basketball game to raise money for the LifeDriven Foundation. The foundation supports teenagers that are diagnosed with cancer.

Crawford seemed pretty pleased with his charity match winning display, celebrating the result on his Instagram account. “And the MVP award goes to who… Nun other than the two time undisputed champ, Terence Bud Crawford!!!” was the caption of the photo of the boxer proudly holding his MVP trophy.

During the game, he even had a small scuffle with an opposition player, but it turned out just to be a bit of fun between the two.

A video of Crawford playing has surfaced on social media and has accumulated hundreds of thousands of views. Plenty of users have taken to the comments to praise the boxer’s performance. “Man of many talents,” wrote one user. “He should play in the NBA and start some beef with Draymond Green. My money on Bud to win that fight,” joked another.

Crawford most definitely seems to be a sporting all-rounder. Back in September the boxer went viral after showing off his skills as a quarterback, throwing several impressive passes.

Ryan Garcia says he aiming for the WBA light-welterweight title after knocking out Oscar Duarte in the eighth round of their bout in Texas on Saturday.

American Garcia, 25, was back in the ring following his only career defeat, by compatriot Gervonta Davis in April.

He landed a left hook to Duarte’s temple which unsteadied the 27-year-old before further blows dropped him to his knees.

Ryan Garcia

“I’m committing to becoming a world champion,” Garcia told DAZN.

Fellow American Duarte lifted himself off the canvas after the count of nine but the referee stopped the fight to hand Garcia his 20th professional knockout.

Rolando Romero has held the light-welterweight belt since May and Garcia thinks he would be up to the challenge of facing the 28-year-old.

“That felt like a fight to me, like I’m figuring myself out as a fighter and I’m excited to keep improving with [new trainer] Derrick [James].

“I want to become a champion, that’s my goal. I want Rolly to be honest.”

A long-running debate recently re-opened over whether Floyd Mayweather holds “The Best Ever” undefeated run in the sport of boxing.

Mayweather, who retired in 2015 but has competed in exhibitions since then, essentially claims to have the most significant benchmark of 50-0.

The Las Vegas native regularly informs fans and media that his record proves he’s the number one fighter of all time. However, a newer generation has discovered Ricardo Lopez’s efforts.

Lopez, now 57, retired in 2001 on 51-0-1. His 52 bouts unbeaten from the start of his career in 1985 trumps that of Mayweather. There’s also the not-so-small-matter of Lopez being perfect in the amateurs.

Over four years, “Finito” won consecutive Mexican National Championships in a run that wasn’t officially totaled. It’s likely to be at least 50 contests.

Floyd Mayweather’s 50-0

That would take Lopez to over 100 bouts without loss from 1981 to 2001. Meanwhile, Mayweather’s amateur record is also unofficial 44-7.

Compared to Lopez, Mayweather would be 94-7 in the unpaid and professional codes. Therefore, Lopez has the upper hand in both, dependent on the point of view.

The only blot on the copybook is that Lopez has a draw on his CV from his 48th bout against Rosendo Alvarez. It’s the only argument Mayweather has regarding his 50-0 record being the best.

Floyd Mayweather

Ironically, both fighters share the most successive world title victories with heavyweight Joe Louis. So there’s a further debate for Lopez to be classed among the greats.

The only downside for Lopez is that he campaigned in the two lowest-weight categories. Historically, those are overlooked the most.

As for Mayweather, his tenure is fresher in the memory. The fact he’s constantly in the spotlight and able to reiterate his achievements keeps him at the forefront – especially in the United States.

Beating Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and Canelo Alvarez as a young buck are two of the most-talked-about events still to this day.

Pacquiao is unbelievably still linked to a rematch. At the same time, Canelo remains a pound-for-pound star of the sport and a link back to Mayweather.

Ricardo Lopez – Finito

Lopez doesn’t have that notoriety. He only has the 52-fight undefeated record and the hope that others bring him into the equation.

This happened recently, leading to Generation Z discovering Mayweather is not the only one who went fifty fights without loss.

The fact opened a significant trend on social platforms, with many of those discussing unaware Mayweather had a rival claimant. Rocky Marciano was thought to be the only one with his 49-0 effort, which Mayweather overhauled.

Ricard Lopez is a legend in his own right. There’s no taking that away from him. But the argument about the best record will never fully get settled in the cold light of day.

Top heavyweight contender Zhilei Zhang does not view Tyson Fury as a big favorite in the upcoming undisputed showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury and Usyk will collide on February 17 in Saudi Arabia, with the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO, WBC world titles at stake.

Last month, Fury barely overcame a crossover boxing match with MMA veteran Francis Ngannou, who was making his professional debut.

Fury was dropped in the third round and had trouble with Ngannou’s style. After ten rounds, Fury walked away with a razor-close ten round split decision.

Tyson Fury

Zhang is not overly fixated on Fury’s struggles in that fight.

What bothers him most is Fury’s claim that he trained very hard to prepare for Ngannou.

If Fury actually trained as hard as he claims, then Zhang expects him to have a lot of problems when he steps in the ring with Usyk.

“I think it is simple, Fury didn’t train for this fight [against Ngannou],” Zhang told Metro.co.uk. “To be honest with you, he is not the version we are used to seeing.

“I can see his mindset is not in boxing at the moment, he is doing commercial things, he is doing PR, marketing, different things, but not boxing. And in this business, you can’t really fool yourself. You can’t fool training.

“After the fight [against Ngannou] in his press conference and interviews he said he had a good training camp for that fight. If that is the case, he has a very big problem going into the Usyk fight.”

Zhang, who is currently the WBO’s mandatory challenger, would like to see Fury come out on top so they can finally go through with their fight.

Earlier this year, Fury and Zhang were close to a deal – but their discussions fell apart when Joe Joyce exercised an immediate rematch clause to force a second meeting with Zhang.

The Chinese giant believes his power will do a lot of damage on Fury.

“If you look at his career, he’s got hit, he’s got dropped, and my punches are not a joke,” Zhang told the Town Bizznizz sports and ent YouTube channel.

“When my punches land, it’s going to be a disaster for him.”

Tyson Fury trumps Conor McGregor when comparing some of the combat sports stars’ biggest reported purses of their respective careers.

Heavyweight world champion Fury, who fights Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed titles in February, is one of the biggest earners in boxing. The Brit has pocketed multiple eight-figure paydays throughout his illustrious boxing career and has never been beaten in the ring, with his flawless professional record currently sitting at 34-0-1.

Former two-weight UFC champion McGregor is the highest earner to ever grace MMA’s leading promotion. His astronomical rise in 2015 saw him capture two world titles before becoming the first fighter to hold belts in two weight classes simultaneously in 2016. So let’s take a look at how five of his and Fury’s biggest paydays compare…

Tyson Fury

Conor McGregor

McGregor didn’t pocket his first seven-figure UFC payday until competing for his first world title in the summer of 2015 when he fought Chad Mendes for the interim featherweight title. The Irishman had already notched up five wins for the promotion by this point and his short-notice win against Mendes earned him a respectable £2.5million.

Just five months after winning the interim belt, McGregor became the undisputed champion by knocking out Jose Aldo in a record-breaking 13-seconds. The win catapulted him to superstar status and also marked his highest UFC payday at the time, taking home £3.5million in his first fight that sold over one million pay-per-view buys.

McGregor was scheduled to fight for the UFC lightweight world title in March 2016, but instead faced gritty veteran Nate Diaz on short-notice after Rafael Dos Anjos withdrew due to injury. The fight marked his first loss in the promotion as he was tapped out inside three rounds, but he took home £4.3million for the fight.

‘Notorious’ avenged his defeat against Diaz later that year and earned slightly more than the first fight by pocketing £4.4million. McGregor’s flawless lightweight title win against Eddie Alvarez just months after defeating Diaz saw him take home £5.3million, however it’s worth noting that McGregor likely earned considerably more than this for his fights with the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier.

Official sums of those purses are unclear, whereas the five previous paydays have all been verified as part of the ongoing class action lawsuit against the UFC. McGregor’s earnings for 2015/2016 came to light in the newly released documents as the lawsuit was granted class-action status by Federal Judge Richard F. Boulware in August.

It was a delight for many fans as they came across Terence Crawford. However, he wasn’t alone. To everyone’s sheer joy, the boxing great was joined by NBA star Russell Westbrook. The point guard with the Los Angeles Clippers could be seen chatting with Crawford. Then he spoke a few words to the latter’s kids before they all shook hands and went their separate ways. The Welterweight champion recently made news as the IBF decided to strip him off their belt.

Consequently, his status changed from that of an undisputed champion to that of a unified champion. However, to most fans, the decision barely stands a chance of denting his legacy. What he has accomplished stays as it is. The Omaha, Nebraska-born southpaw, created history this year when he defeated archrival Errol Spence Jr. on July 29. Ever since there have been multiple rounds of talks on his future course of action.

Two famous sports personalities and joyous fans

From the comments, it was clear that most fans and followers were pleasantly surprised by the gathering of two very famous star athletes. Of course, the usual fun-poking, skeptical crowd milled around.

Terence Crawford

Russell Westbrook has finally met someone whom he can’t even imagine intimidating; the following user shared: “Finally, someone Russ can’t bully.” For this user, from the footage, it never seemed as though Crawford was shorter than Westbrook: “Bud, don’t look that much shorter than Russ right here.” One user said that they are a die-hard fan of Errol Spence Jr.: “Ima Spence fan, okay bud.

The next few appeared to be unwavering fans of the Welterweight champion. For instance, this fan said that in the footage, the only athlete who stood out as an A-lister was Terence Crawford: “@tbudcrawford is the real A1 athlete here.” The next one called the Nebraska native, pound-for-pound, the best boxer in the world: “Bud P4P, best boxer in the world.” According to this fan, genuine elite athletes are able to recognize and acknowledge others of their kind: “Real Recognize Real.

Finally, out of the blue, there was a comment from this user who probably thought about what would happen if Westbrook and Crawford squared up against each other. They envisioned that after 3 months of rigorous boxing training, the NBA point guard would have the upper hand in the ring! “I got Russ with 3 months of boxing training.

Soon after the Spence Jr. fight, Crawford made it clear that he would be happy to take on either Jermell Charlo or Canelo Alvarez.

Exciting times ahead for Terence Crawford

But as it happened to everyone’s shock, Jermell Charlo and Alvarez—got into the ring. The ‘Iron Man’ received appreciation for the brave move, climbing two divisions up to face one of the ‘faces of boxing.’ But it was a step fraught with risk. Finally, when they fought, the Mexican champion steamrolled over the Texas native. Thereafter, ‘Bud,’ in a scathing criticism, shared that he wouldn’t fight the light middleweight champion.

Thus, the super middleweight champion remains a viable option. However, many experts voiced their concern that going over three weight classes is an altogether different ballgame. Otherwise, within the division, Crawford could always go against upcoming star Jaron Ennis, the new IBF welterweight champion. Finally, he might also have to consider a rematch with Spence Jr. The New York-born southpaw decided to activate the rematch clause, which means that Crawford would have to give Spence Jr. his rematch very soon.

You almost never see Terence Crawford smiling once he’s inside the ring. Actually, you rarely see him smiling outside of it either.

For the 35-year-old, he comes off as unforgiving and mean. His actions once the bell rings mirror that. Earlier this year, for the 11th consecutive time, a Crawford opponent was unable to reach the final bell. While it’s commonplace, few expected him to dismantle Errol Spence Jr. a few short months ago.

It was built up as a 50/50 matchup and a tit-for-tat battle. However, first-round aside, Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) issued a one-sided beatdown to the former unified champion.

With all four welterweight titles now draped over his shoulders, Crawford’s already puffed-out chest protrudes just a bit more nowadays, his voice is a bit deeper, and the menacing glare he gives his opponents and media members feels more terrifying. But while Crawford, by and large, is viewed as the best fighter in the world and a flat-out killer in the ring, Angel Garcia isn’t buying it.

Terence Bud Crawford

The current father of the former two-division champion, Danny Garcia, knows Crawford like the back of his hand. In addition to watching his career play out, Angel observed Crawford in the amateurs. In the unpaid ranks, both Crawford and Angel’s son split a pair of meetings. Up until recently, the two campaigned in the same division.

At one point, it seemed likely that the pair would rekindle their rivalry in the pros, but with Crawford stating time and time again that he’s only interested in fighting Canelo Alvarez, Angel has moved on.

As for media pundits and fans who continue to praise Crawford with superlatives, Angel believes it’s well deserved. But, for those who are convinced that Crawford can simply waltz through anyone without breaking a sweat, Angel rolls his eyes incredulously as he vehemently disagrees.

“He ain’t no killer,” said Angel Garcia to AB Boxing News. “He can be beaten too.”

Gervonta Davis beat Ryan Garcia conclusively earlier this year, but the latter says an injury played a big part.

‘Tank’ Davis dropped and stopped Garcia in April at a catchweight of 136lbs. In the aftermath, Garcia says he was weight drained and also hinted at an injury.

In an interview with The Last Stand, he confirmed that theory, saying that ‘a separated rib’ from training camp affected his preparation.

Gervonta-Davis

Davis caught wind of the comments and took to social media to say it was ‘over’ for his rival.

Garcia is angling for a rematch, but is one division up now, his maiden fight being a catchweight bout with Oscar Duarte.
