Charlie Woods may never beat Tiger’s 15 Majors but he did claim a State Championship title that his dad never managed to win

It seems an impossible task following in the footsteps of Tiger Woods, but his son Charlie has already done something his father never did by winning a high school State Championship title.

With Tiger watching on in the crowd, Charlie Woods, a 14-year-old freshman at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, shot 78 and 76 as his team won the Florida High School Athletic Association Class A state championship at Mission Inn Resort.

Woods finished 26th overall and was fourth of the five golfers on his team, but nonetheless the most talked about teenager in golf still contributed to his first State Championship title.

His father may have 15 Major titles and be one of the greatest golfers ever to swing a club, but Tiger never won a State Championship at high school, and from what we’ve seen of their relationship Charlie will no doubt been keen to point that out.

Dressed all in black, Tiger was keeping a low profile as he watched his son in action during the State Championship – just appearing in the background of pictures as the team celebrated their victory.

Tiger made a more high-profile appearance in Charlie’s previous even as he caddied for his son in the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship, where he finished T17.

Tiger and Charlie have also played together at the PNC Championship – and that event in December could be part of his latest comeback from injury, but he could also be back later this month in the Hero World Challenge event he hosts in the Bahamas.

The State Championship though was all about Charlie, who is already the most talked-about teenager in the sport and interest in his development will only increase as he gets older.

Trying to follow in Tiger’s tracks looks an impossible task, but while he may never get near to his dad’s 82 PGA Tour titles or 15 Major wins, at least the teenager has achieved something his father never did.

Charlie Woods is currently playing at the Florida High School State Championship, and by the looks of it, he is following in his father’s footsteps. Charlie made a rather delightful chip at the event and followed that with a massive fist pump.

Reminiscent of Tiger Woods, Charlie yelled “C’MON, LET’S GO!” after chipping the ball in, pumping his fist in the air.

He is competing at the Florida High School State Golf Championship at the Mission Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, just outside Orlando. The course has been a really tough one to navigate so far, with only six players scoring at par or better.

Charlie shot a 78 on day 1 and is sitting tied for 36th at the end of round 1. He is playing for his high school, Benjamin, which is in the Class 1A division. The team score was 10-over 298 at the end of day 1, taking them to the top of the leaderboard.

Just a few weeks ago, Charlie Woods finished tied for 17th at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship. He competed in the 14-15 age bracket, which was won by Lucky Cruz.

Tiger Woods caddies for son Charlie Woods as speculations about his comeback gain steam

Just like at the Notah Begay III, Tiger Woods decided to caddie for Charlie Woods this weekend. This has led to more speculation about when Woods is likely to make a comeback; he has been away from the pro golf scene since April.

In April, Tiger Woods withdrew from the 2023 Masters and subsequently underwent surgery. He has been in rehabilitation since then and has not made an appearance on a golf course.

However, he was recently seen hitting golf balls and caddying for his son – all signs that he is recovering well from his injury.

He also made an appearance at the WWT Championship, which was played at a course designed by him. Stewart Cink of Golf Channel interviewed Woods and said:

“I did chat with him yesterday but we had other things to chat about [besides course setup]. Mainly I just wanted to know how he was doing. You don’t always get a whole lot out of Tiger Woods but he said that he is starting practicing which I think is a great sign.”

Tiger Woods could make his comeback at the Hero World Challenge or the PNC Championship with Charlie Woods.

Charlie Woods now owns a bit of bragging rights over his father, golf legend Tiger Woods.

Charlie helped The Benjamin School capture a Florida high school state golf championship on Wednesday at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-In-The-Hills.

Despite Tiger Woods’ laundry list of accolades, he never won a state high school championship at Western High School in Anaheim, California.

The 14-year-old Woods finished in a tie for 26th overall and was fourth out of five golfers on The Benjamin School’s boys team as they won the FHSAA Class A state championship.

Charlie, a freshman, had his best day of the tournament on Day 2 when he shot a 76 to help The Benjamin School capture the title, according to the Palm Beach Post.

In a show of support, Tiger was on hand to watch his son play in the tournament.

A photo of the famed golfer provided to the Palm Beach Post showed the 47-year-old Woods watching in the background behind The Benjamin School players during the tournament.

The 15-time major champion was wearing an all-black getup with sunglasses on his hat.

Tiger was not caddying for Charlie during the tournament, which would have gone against FHSAA tournament rules, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Sophomore Jake Valentine’s birdie on the 17th hole and a putt on the 18th helped clinch the championship.

While Charlie can now claim a title that his father never won, it should be noted as to why that is.

Tiger Woods did play high school golf at Western, but the California Interscholastic Federation did not conduct state championships for the sport.

He did, however, win the CIF SoCal Regional in 1991.

Tiger was also the Southern Section champion in 1991, 1993 and 1994.

He also was the youngest golfer to ever win the U.S. Junior Amateur title in 1991.

Tiger Woods has announced that he will team with his 14-year-old son, Charlie, for the fourth time in the PNC Championship, formerly the Father-Son Championship, on Dec. 16 and 17 at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.

The elder Woods, 47, has not played since he withdrew from the Masters last April because of ongoing problems with his right leg, which he injured in an SUV accident in Southern California in August of 2019.

In addition, Woods will play in the Hero World Challenge, of which he is the host, next week at the Albany Club in New Providence, The Bahamas.

“It is an amazing gift to be able to share my love of golf with Charlie and we genuinely do look forward to playing in the PNC Championship all years,” said Woods, who claimed the last of his 82 victories to tie Sam Snead for the PGA Tour record in the 2020 Zozo Championship at Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan. “Competing together, against a field of so many golfing greats and their families, is so special.

“My ankle is fine. Where they fused my ankle, I have absolutely zero issue whatsoever. That pain is completely gone. It’s the other areas of my leg that have been compensated for, all the surrounding areas are where I had all my problems and I still do. So you fix one, the others have to become more hypermobile to get around it, and it can lead to some issues.

“Physically, I can’t do many of the things I used to be able to do … but I can think my way around the course. There was a point when I didn’t know if I’d be play again. I was just hoping to walk normally again.”

Charlie and Tiger Woods finished second to John Daly and his son, John II, in the 2021 PNC Challenge, a 36-hole scramble event, and have finished in the top 10 in each of their three starts in the tournament, including a tie for eighth last year—when Tiger was allowed to use a golf cart in order to compete.

Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods

Earlier this month, Charlie Woods helped the Benjamin School of Palm Beach, Fla., capture the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A state championship.

Vijay Singh of Fiji and his son, Cass, claimed the title last year.

Other winners of the PNC Challenge in the past include Justin Thomas and his father, Mike; Bernhard Langer of Germany and his son, Jason; Davis Love III and his son, Dru; Angel Cabrera of Argentina and his son, Angel Jr; David Duval and his stepson, Nick Karavites; Lanny Wadkins and his son, Tucker; Stewart Cink and his son, Connor; Larry Nelson and his son, Drew; Hale Irwin and his son, Stu; Craig Stadler and his son, Kevin; Raymond Floyd and his son, Robert, and Jack Nicklaus and his son, Gary.

Other teams set to play in the PNC Challenge include the defending champion Singhs, the Thomases, Nelly Korda and her father Petr, and Annika Sorenstam of Sweden and her son, Will; Padraig Harrington of Ireland and his son, Ciaran; Lee Trevino and his grandson, Daniel, and Steve Stricker, and his daughter, Izzi.

Olympic gymnast Simone Biles is embracing the holiday spirit, as evident in her recent Instagram post. The 26-year-old shared pictures donning a festive red leotard with intricate gold detailing, featuring shiny straps and a detailed gold band around the midsection.

The leotard, a familiar outfit for Biles who has represented the United States in multiple Olympic Games and World Championships, perfectly complements the holiday season.

With her name stitched in gold thread at the hip, Biles brings a personal touch to the gymnastics fashion, hinting at more patriotic ensembles in the future.

Happy for her husband

Biles celebrated her husband Jonathan Owens‘ first NFL touchdown during the Green Bay Packers‘ Thanksgiving win against the Detroit Lions.

Canelo Alvarez opens up about his future plans and the potential David Benavidez fight

Canelo Alvarez has offered a response to the challenges put forth by David Benavidez, addressing other potential opponents like Terence Crawford and Jermall Charlo. The Mexican boxing superstar’s reaction comes in the wake of the announcement of a multiyear deal between his current promoter, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), and Amazon’s Prime Video.

This agreement signifies a shift in broadcasting, as PBC fights and pay-per-views (PPVs) were previously aired on Showtime, which is set to conclude its boxing programming by the end of the year. The move to Prime Video introduces a new era for Canelo and other PBC fighter, potentially influencing the landscape of matchups and opportunities in boxing.

The move to Prime Video introduces a new era for Canelo and other PBC fighter, potentially influencing the landscape of matchups and opportunities in boxing
In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Canelo Alvarez clarified that as of now, no discussions about potential opponents for his two fights in 2024 have taken place. Alvarez debunked recent reports suggesting possible matchups against Jaime Munguia, Jermall Charlo, or Terence Crawford, stating, “Right now my dates are May and September. Those are the dates that I always look to fight. This Monday I’m gonna have a meeting with Al Haymon and see what’s next.”
Alvarez dismissed the mentioned opponents, expressing surprise at the circulating names. He explained that he has been occupied with other aspects of his life, including managing his businesses and traveling with his wife. The interview suggests that Alvarez is focused on his upcoming meetings to determine his next steps in the boxing ring and that no concrete plans or discussions about opponents have been made at this time.

Devin Haney is just a few hours away from making his super lightweight debut. And while his focus is mainly on knocking off Regis Prograis, he knows that his name will always be linked to some of his contemporaries.

There are a few fighters that come to mind. Ryan Garcia, before Haney collected all of the lightweight hardware, was a fighter Haney wanted to eventually take on. But, with little to no negations taking place, their showdown was nothing more than a pipe dream.

Even now, with Garcia hoping for a matchup against Rolando “Rolly” Romero, Haney believes that at some point, they’ll meet up.

Recently, Haney was asked to put Prograis aside and place his attention on some of his young rivals. When asked to give his thoughts on Garcia and his overall skills, he was nothing but complimentary.

“I think he’s good,” said Haney recently. “I think he has skills, speed, power.”

Gervonta Davis

Garcia, just last week, took care of business against Oscar Duarte, something Haney was visibly impressed by. With that said, he doesn’t consider the 25-year-old an otherworldly talent. Gervonta Davis, on the other hand, is a different animal.

At 29, the pay-per-view star has racked up world titles in three separate divisions. In addition to filling up his trophy case with hardware, Davis has shown that his skills are second to none. Arguably, the Baltimore native put together his best year yet, stopping both Ryan Garcia and the previously undefeated Hector Luis Garcia.

Before officially making the move up in weight, Haney was hoping that both he and Davis would come to an agreement and battle it out. Nevertheless, with Haney taking his talents to 140 pounds, and eventually, to the welterweight division, he’s losing hope that they’ll face off.

Still, despite both sides fulminating over who would actually win, Haney revealed that not only is Davis a great fighter, but he’s one of the best ever.

“He’s an all-time great.”

Tiger Woods was recently photographed at the Albany Golf Club in The Bahamas ahead of the 2023 Hero World Challenge. Woods is the tournament’s host, and the first round is scheduled for November 30.

A fantastic field of 20 golfers will compete at the event. However, since Woods has only revealed 19 participants and there is still one spot available, supporters have reason to believe that the 15-time major winner will return to the competition. With Woods being seen practicing golf at the competition site, fans’ expectations are growing.

A fan recently shared a picture of the legen

Woods typically wears Nike sneakers, but he switched to FootJoy for comfort after having ankle surgery earlier this year. Nike has promised to work closely with Woods to make the perfect shoes for him.

A golf enthusiast account called TWLegion posted a photo of Tiger Woods practicing in the Bahamas along with the following caption:”Tiger Woods is at Albany Golf Club in The Bahamas and was on the range today as part of a corporate outing with Monster Energy

Fans took to the comments section to say Woods will play at the Hero World Challenge. One user commented:

“Never, ever, ever count him out.”

Charlie Woods, son of the legendary Tiger Woods, added another trophy to the already impressive collection of honors his family has received. Charlie’s squad, the Benjamin High School Buccaneers, took home the 1A classification 2023 Florida High School Athletic Association State Championship on Wednesday.

Even though his team won the game, the 14-year-old placed 26th in the individual standings. He contributed to his team’s championship victory with two rounds of 78 and 76.

interestingly, Tiger Woods was present at the venue to cheer for his son and support him. PGA Tour shared the news about Charlie’s team winning the FHSAASC on its X account with a caption, saying:

with this charisma and playing style, I’m sure this boy will be a professional athlete in the future.”

“charlie is 14! The difference in the body and strength of a 17 year old and 14 is enormous. For a freshman to be in the top 5 of the winning school is impressive. Watch the next couple years, he’s still young,” wrote another fan.

“So fun- high school golf and team experience so good for him!!” added another fan.

When will Tiger Woods and Charlie will play together?

Charlie’s golfing skills have become the talk of the town after he made his PNC championship debut in 2020.

The father-son team has been participating in the competition for the past three years, and supporters are hoping that they will return to play again later this year.

Speaking about playing with Charlie, Tiger previously said (via The Guadian):”I don’t think words can describe it. Just the fact that we were able to have this experience together, Charlie and I, it’s memories for a lifetime.”

Tiger Woods has enjoyed a successful outing during his junior career. He was a child prodigy and his son is following in his footsteps.

However last year during an interview with NBC, Woods urged his son to follow Rory McIlroy and hone his skills from the Northern Irish golfer.

Speaking about his son, Woods said:

“[I told him] don’t copy my swing. Copy Rory [McIlroy]’s. That’s one of the things my dad instilled in me, is that you should be able to balance and hold your finish until the ball rolls and stops. You can swing as hard as you want, but you need to have balance.”
