Devin Haney achieved a stellar victory against Regis Prograis in their title bout for the WBC super lightweight championship. The fight proved to be an easy affair for the former undisputed lightweight champion who dismantled Prograis throughout the fight. As he becomes a two-division champion, all eyes are on him as he makes his next move.

Meanwhile, Haney has expressed his desire to face big names such as Shakur Stevenson, Gervonta DavisRyan Garcia, or Teofimo Lopez. However, it seems that he might end up having to fight someone else. So who is this opponent he inherited after defeating Prograis?

Garcia, Lopez, and Stevenson, and Davis are not in line to fight Haney

Devin Haney, fresh off his triumph against Regis Prograis, is now set to defend his WBC light welterweight title against mandatory challenger Sandor Martin. Prograis was granted an exception from facing Martin due to the Haney fight. This now leaves Haney with an obligation to face Martin to defend his newly acquired belt.

Moreover, Martin will definitely be a tough opponent for ‘the Dream’. Martin even gave Teofimo Lopez a run for his money in their encounter last year and only lost to a controversial split decision.

However, Devin Haney’s father seems laser-focused on one fighter whom he would want to tick off his hit list.

Bill Haney blasts Gervonta Davis

Even though, Martin is already set to be his mandatory opponent, it seems that Haney has set his sights on Davis. In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Bill Haney emphasized the singular fight that truly makes sense for his son, Devin – a showdown with Gervonta Davis. Expressing their readiness post the Prograis battle, Bill boldly challenged others, stating, “So, f**k all that other sh*t. I’m going to see who gon’ mention ‘Tank’ other than us.”

As the Haney camp echoes Davis’ name, Bill is convinced of the avoidance tactics, claiming, “Tank don’t want to fight Devin, period.” This anticipation of a face-off with Davis adds a layer of intrigue to Devin Haney’s promising career.

Bill Haney wants the Davis matchup, affirming their willingness to even fight at 140 lbs. Moreover, he repeatedly chanted, “Tank, Tank, Tank. Where you at Tank?” Despite this, Bill predicts Davis will sidestep the challenge, reinforcing the notion that the clash might still remain elusive.

Olympic gymnast Simone Biles is embracing the holiday spirit, as evident in her recent Instagram post. The 26-year-old shared pictures donning a festive red leotard with intricate gold detailing, featuring shiny straps and a detailed gold band around the midsection.

The leotard, a familiar outfit for Biles who has represented the United States in multiple Olympic Games and World Championships, perfectly complements the holiday season.

With her name stitched in gold thread at the hip, Biles brings a personal touch to the gymnastics fashion, hinting at more patriotic ensembles in the future.

Happy for her husband

Biles celebrated her husband Jonathan Owens‘ first NFL touchdown during the Green Bay Packers‘ Thanksgiving win against the Detroit Lions.

Owens, a safety for the Packers, scored after a fumble from Lions quarterback Jared Goff, giving the Packers an unexpected lead. Biles expressed her excitement on social media

The couple, mostly in a long-distance relationship due to their sports careers, has been supportive of each other’s achievements. Biles aims to compete in the Paris Olympics next year, continuing her legacy as the most decorated gymnast in history.

We keep waiting to find out when Tiger Woods will play next, but meanwhile his son, Charlie Woods, is finding his own way to make headlines.

Charlie Woods’ high school boys golf team won the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A State Championship on Wednesday, as he helped The Benjamin School to a two-day total of 602 at Mission Resort and Club, in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.

It was the fourth state title for Benjamin, which clipped First Academy by one and Episcopal by two.

Charlie, a freshman, shot 78-76, which tied him for 26th overall. He recorded his team’s fourth score on Day 1 and tied for his team’s second-best score on Day 2.

A video circulated on social media on Tuesday of Charlie chipping in on one hole. Some pictures of his famous father watching the tournament also made the rounds.

When Tiger was at Western High School in Anaheim, Calif., there were no state championships for golf; instead golf at that level was split into northern and southern regionals. Tiger won the southern regional once.

Tiger did win some big-time titles while he was an amateur, though — including three straight U.S Junior Amateurs and three straight U.S. Amateurs.

We’ll hear from Tiger soon enough, as his Hero World Challenge kicks off Nov. 30 at Albany in the Bahamas. There’s still one spot left in the field if Woods wants it (which largely relies on his health). Also coming up is the PNC Championship on Dec. 16-17. Tiger and Charlie have teamed up for this the past three years, but they have yet to officially commit for this year.

Charlie Woods accomplished something his father never did: Win a high-school state championship.

Charlie, the 14-year-old son of Tiger Woods, shot 154 (78-76) over two days at Florida’s state championships held at Mission Inn Resort. The freshman’s score was good enough to finish T-26 in the individual standings, and more importantly, one of four rounds that counted for his team, the Benjamin School, with the team’s 602 total capturing the Class A title.

Given his father’s illustrious amateur career—which included three U.S. Amateur and three U.S. Junior Amateur victories—it may seem odd that Tiger never won a state championship. That’s because when Woods was in high school the California Interscholastic Federation didn’t hold state-wide championships. It should be noted however, that Woods did win his regional in 1991 and was his section’s medalist three times.

Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods

Tiger and Charlie Woods have played in the parent-child PNC Championship the past three years, although the tournament has not publicly stated the duo is entered into this year’s field. The PNC, an unofficial event affiliated with the PGA Tour, begins Dec. 16.

Woods, 47, has not competed since the 2023 Masters as he continues to rehab following April surgery on his ankle.

At age 14, young Charlie was part of the five-schooler Benjamin School team that captured the FHSAA Class A title at the Mission Inn Resort in Florida

Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie, has won in Florida, at the age of 14. Charlie has just been proclaimed state champion at the FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association) Class A high school level. Like father, like son, like son, they say, isn’t it?

He competed at the golf tournament along with his teammates from Benjamin School and individually, he placed 26th with two rounds in which he shot 78 and 76. The son of the 15-time majors champion can boast a title his father never won.

However, this claim has a catch. California did not have such a school tournament when Tiger was the age of his son, whose handicap is believed to be close to zero. What Woods senior did do was win the US Junior Amateur when he was just 15 years old, a milestone at the time.

Father and son, the best team

The Woods have played the occasional tournament together in the past, including the PNC Championship, a family golf classic held in Orlando since 1995 that gives parents and children a chance to test themselves on the green.

“There are no words to describe. These are memories for a lifetime,” Tiger recently acknowledged. “Don’t copy my swing; copy Rory McIlroy‘s.”

When will Tiger Woods return to pro golf?

After withdrawing from the 2023 Masters in April, Woods has been inactive on the PGA tour and has slipped to be out of the ranked top 1000 professionals in the world.

However, there are signs of life in the 48-year-old according to Stewart Cink, who claimed to Golf Week that the legendary player is hitting balls on the fairway once again/

So when can he return? The first chance would be the Hero World Challenge which begins on November 30. All but one of the sports on the roster are filled, and fans suspect it’s for Woods to claim.

He could also appear at the PNC Championship alongside his son on December 14. It isn’t a really competitive tournament so it gives him a chance to stretch his legs in a way that he won’t be overly working himself.

Charlie Woods is a state champion.

The 14-year-old Woods, a freshman at Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, tied for 26th individually to help Benjamin to the Florida High School Athletic Assocation’s Class 1A state team championship on Thursday at Mission Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Woods fired rounds of 76-78-67 in rainy conditions and ranked fourth on his team behind Jake Valentine (T-8), Brooks Colton (T-12) and Pavel Tsar (T-18). Woods also chipped in during his second round.

Benjamin edged The First Academy by a shot. Pine Crest junior Alexander Weinberg won the individual title.

Woods has yet to commit the next month’s PNC Championship, which he has played in each of the past three years with his dad, Tiger.

The 26th PNC Championship will be held Dec. 16-17 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando (Fla.) at Grande Lakes.

Tiger Woods and his 14-year-old son, Charlie, will highlight the 20-team field, which is for major and Players Championship winners. Each player is partnered with a family member.

That major list also includes PGA Tour Champions winners. Steve Stricker won three of the senior majors this past season and will make his debut in the field alongside his daughter, Izzi, a Wisconsin high school state champion.

The 36-hole tournament employs a scramble format for both rounds. This means each players hit tee shots, and the team selects the better among the two. They then both play from that spot and select the better shot from there.

Vijay Singh and his son, Qass, are the defending champions. Here’s a look at the TV schedule (all times ET), with full field below.

Another wild year of golf is coming to an end, thankfully with a final event where players won’t be asked if they’re going to LIV Golf next year.

The PNC Championship is a family affair, with major champions and their sons/daughters/parents teaming up for a fun two-round scramble at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.

Tiger and Charlie Woods will get the most attention, they finished second two years ago and Tiger is fond of saying that Charlie carries him. Yet Tiger is feeling better about his own game, as two weeks ago at his Hero World Challenge he said he could play monthly on Tour in 2024.

“Fun to Watch”: An Impossible Tiger Woods vs Phil Mickelson Clash Echoes Among Fans as LIV Golf-PGA Tour Drama Takes New Turns

Who else will tee off though? Among the bigwigs, Brooks Koepka will go against his compatriot, Scottie Scheffler, while Dustin Johnson will tee off against Xander Schauffele. While the LIV Golf-PGA Tour negotiations are on shaky grounds, the prospect of a high-profile match roused the fans and they gave a huge thumbs-up to the idea.

Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson can break broadcasting records

On the European side, the latest marquee signing, Jon Rahm will lock horns with Viktor Hovland. Interestingly, LIV Golf Nation also paired Greg Norman with Fred Couples! If the Tiger Woods and. Phil Mickelson duel happens, it will be a repeat of the famous “The Match” between the duo in 2018. It was more than just a golf battle between the two pros at that time. The $9 million winner-takes-all match was the precursor of the golf entertainment genre that Netflix capitalized on with the “Full Swing” docu-series.

Phil and Tiger

Interestingly, the seemingly impossible match-up ‘request’ comes amidst the ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Jay Monahan earlier confirmed his “firm” stance on reaching a breakthrough before the December 31 deadline. However, Greg Norman’s move of snatching Jon Rahm, a PGA Tour loyalist, away from Monahan’s fold has added new layers to the merger story.

The PGA Tour commissioner is set to meet PIF governor, Yasir Al-Rumayyan this week. Considering the ongoing negotiations for the $3B merger agreement, we are not sure what either party will think about the proposal. But the prospect of breaking the broadcasting record sure makes it a lucrative opportunity for both parties.

In 2018, two of the USA’s all-time greats teed off against each other at the Shadow Creek Golf Course. Phil Mickelson had the last laugh after in the 22nd sudden-death playoff hole as he went on to pocket the winner’s payout. They once again met in 2020 with Woods pairing up with NFL legend, Peyton Manning, and Mickelson paired up with Tampa Bay Buccaneer quarterback, Tom Brady. The 15x Major winner took his revenge at that time. The much-hyped tourney received 6.3M viewership at its peak. Naturally, irrespective of PIF or PGA Tour’s stance, fans are surely on board with the idea.

If both tours agree to occasional celebrity events like this after the December 31 deadline, it would be great for golf. This fan believes it will help grow the game.

Some feel rather than an individual battle, a Ryder Cup-style team format would suit more. The LIV golf also has a team–play format, that this fan prefers.

Some appeared a little cynical about the prospect of the match. Nevertheless, they admitted it would be a spectacle.

There are rumors that Tyrrell Hatton is going to join Rahm in his new team. One user wants him to go against Rory McIlroy, instead of Patrick Reed.
