Charlie Woods wowed the crowd at the PNC Championship with a powerful 323-yard drive on the 13th hole. The hole officially measures 321 yards, but Charlie’s exceptional swing and precision allowed him to go beyond, landing just past the green.

On the subsequent hole, Charlie Woods faced a different challenge, as he lost the ball to the right. But even in that moment, his talent shone through. The ball found the right side of the fairway, traveling 232 yards.

Charlie’s average drive, albeit based on this small sample size of two drives, positions him above the curve for his age. His skill, precision and power on the golf course are undeniably impressive.

What did father Tiger say about Charlie Woods’s game?

After his son hit the powerful 323-yard drive on the 13th hole, Tiger Woods praised him during an interview.

“His speed has gone dramatically up this year. He’s hitting it past me now,” Tiger said.

“I’m just happy for him [Charlie Woods], that whenever he hits a shot that he wants to hit, that he’s able to pull that off and I’ve seen him do it in practice and it’s always fun and enjoyable to see him pull it off in a competitive environment, and I just see him just learning and growing.”

Tiger concluded:

“I think that people have probably seen how much he’s grown physically from last year and that’s the challenging part of it, is that trying to figure out swing path and clubs and fit and gram weights and everything’s a moving target right so that’s the the hard part.”

In the opening round at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Team Woods shot an 8-under 64. Despite their prowess on the par 5s and consistent birdies, the duo found themselves trailing Team Kuchar by seven strokes going into Sunday.

On the final day the duo improved their performance, carding an impressive 11-under 61 in challenging windy conditions. While they didn’t clinch the victory, their combined score of 19 under helped them secure a tie for fifth place.

The Woods duo have registered consistent top-10 finishes in the PNC Championship. The 2023 tournament capped another memorable chapter in the father-son’s golf journey.

Will Charlie Woods be the next Tiger Woods? Dare we ask if he’ll ever win as many major championships as dear ol’ dad?

Charlie hits it a mile and employs an athletic and fundamentally sound swing, as well as many of his father’s on-course mannerisms.

But if you know golf and know its history, well, let’s just say Charlie will most likely win as many major championships as your ol’ man.

Maybe that’s a bit harsh. It’s not like second-generation golfers haven’t succeeded at the highest levels. Come on, it was just 130-some years ago that Willie Park Jr. won his second British Open and ran the combined total for father and son to six.

So, yes, we’re saying there’s a chance.

Charlie Woods has drawn plenty of praise for his golf game over the past few years, most recently at last week’s annual father-son tournament (the PNC Championship in Orlando), where he and his dad tied for fifth in a field of 20.

This came a month after Charlie’s high school team (Benjamin) won the Class 1A state championship. Charlie tied for 19th individually with rounds of 78-76.

At 14, he’s a quality high school golfer. But at this stage there’s no way to know if that’ll eventually translate to a professional career in golf or, say, professional life as a lawyer or banker with a single-digit handicap and occasional use of the “Reserved for Club Champion” parking spot down at the club.

Jack Nicklaus is the standard by which Tiger Woods has long been measured. Of Jack’s four sons and one daughter, Gary was the best golfer. The number of second-generation tournament winners, eight, seems a bit low when you consider how many second- and even third-generation stars you see in other sports. One reason seems rather obvious. In team sports, where you get a Ken Griffey Jr. or a Christian McCaffrey, the son of a former pro, especially a former star, is likely to get more consideration and more reps at an early age, and therefore more opportunities to succeed.

Yes, genetics also help.

But in golf and the other individual sports, results tell the story. It doesn’t matter how much cachet your name carries. Sure, the name will help a fledgling pro get a sponsor’s invite into a tournament field here and there, and one of those opportunities might trigger a breakthrough. But most likely, if the professional quality is there, you’re not leaning on sponsor invites very long.

Tiger Woods’ daughter Sam recently had an unforgettable opportunity with her dad on the golf course.

Over the weekend, the iconic golfer competed in the PNC Championship in Orlando, FL. His 16-year-old daughter Sam was by his side the entire match as his caddy, as reported by PEOPLE. This event marked the teen’s debut in that role.

During the tournament, their weekend highlights included Sam driving her famous father around the green in a golf cart.

Another duty Sam was responsible for was managing her dad’s signature tiger club. She served as his right hand as he pitched, putted, and would tee off. The father-daughter duo were photographed striking the same pose with their hands on their hips while gazing across the golf course.

Sam’s younger brother Charlie, 14, also joined his family during the match as he played alongside his dad. The teen made the highlight reel as he chipped in a birdie from the green on Sunday during the final round. He then pumped his fist in the air, much like his superstar dad had done many times in his history-making career.
While it was a special event for the trio, it ended with a loss. Still, their biggest reward was spending quality time with each other.
According to PGA Tour, when asked what his favorite memory of the event was, Woods responded, “The whole week, to be able to share it with my family.”

Tiger Woods’ son Charlie appears to be following in his father’s footsteps. Everything seems to indicate that the youngster has a promising career ahead of him- having the greatest and most iconic golfer of all time as your coach certainly helps.

The two were back in action over the past few weeks in Orlando for the annual PNC Championship– the tournament which sees children of famous golfers pair up with their fathers for several rounds on the green. Despite expectation that Charlie and Tiger would go all the way, the two failed to win it this time around.

“Any time I get a chance to spend time with my son, it’s always special,” said Tiger ahead of the tournament in an interview with ESPN. “And to do it in a competitive forum, the last couple of years have been magical, and to be able to do it again, we’re looking forward to it,” he concluded.

Golf fans were once again blown away by the striking similarities between the two. On a golfing level, Charlie looks to be a carbon copy of his father, with a virtually identical swing and technique. It wasn’t just their technique that caught the eye of fans, though. Their stances, the way they lean on their golf clubs, their glances and even celebrations are all identical. The future is bright for the young golf star.

After a third appearance as a father-son duo at the PNC Championship in south Florida, 14-year-old Charlie Woods accidentally let slip a key insight into his father’s putting.

Tiger Woods and Charlie managed to finish tied for fifth at the tournament – shooting 19-under thanks in part to some short-game struggles on the first day.

When asked by Golf.com about how good of a caddie his dad is, Charlie mentioned that Tiger’s reads are not traditional.

‘For Dad as a caddie, his reads are hook-bias, and I don’t hook as much as he does,’ he said.

‘So all of my putts, I miss right. So I have to account for that.’

Analysis of putt lab data (via Golf Digest) found that Tiger actually addresses the ball to the right of his intended line. But thanks to a strong right hand in his putting stroke, he hooks the club face back to being slightly closed.

While not technically ‘perfect’, it is consistent – and Tiger has practiced it enough that it’s become natural and it works well for him.

On Saturday, the pairing only finished eight-under and blamed their work on the greens for a performance that wasn’t up to their standards.

‘I mean, I drove the ball really good today – I didn’t miss a fairway – and we still managed to shoot eight-under,’ Charlie remarked, adding, ‘We just suck at putting.’

Tiger agreed, following up his son’s comments by saying that he ‘summed it up right there’.

Sunday, they got their act together – shooting eleven-under on the day to finish 19-under for the whole tournament.

Bernhard Langer and his son Jason won the tournament by two shots.

The amount of habits and mannerisms that seem to have transferred from Tiger Woods to his son Charlie is truly uncanny.

Charlie Woods is generating quite a bit of buzz for how similar he is to his father.

As Charlie gets older they seem to be getting much closer together with the younger Woods already generating a lot of speed with the club.

They will be in action together at the PNC Championship.

Check out this video which shows just how alike the father and son are.

This week, Woods Jr will play from the 6,500-yard tees at Orlando’s Ritz Carlton Golf Club, which will also used by John Daly, Nelly Korda, Vijay Singh, and Retief Goosen.

The 14-year-old will most certainly be hitting the ball considerably farther than last year’s PNC Championship, and while data on his driving distance isn’t freely available, pundits who have seen him up close put it between 250-270 yards, given that John Daly has averaged 282 yards this year and Nelly Korda has averaged 269 yards.

“For the @PNCchampionship Charlie Woods will be moving back a tee from last year,” the Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“He will be playing the same tee as John Daly, Jim Furyk, Retief Goosen, Nelly Korda and Vijay Singh at 6,578 yds. @TigerWoods, aka Dad will play the tips at 7,106 yds.”

Charlie played from the tees reserved for pros aged 65-72 in last year’s PNC Championship, with Bernhard Langer, Mark O’Meara, Nick Price, and Nick Faldo. Annika Sorenstam, Justin Thomas’ father, Nelly Korda’s father Petr, and Matt Kuchar’s son Carson all off the same tees.

Gary Player, Lee Trevino, and Annika Sorenstam’s 11-year-old son, Will McGee, were the three players who used the most forward tees.

This week, all male PGA Tour players will be off the backs, measuring in excess of 7,100 yards, including Tiger Woods, who will be making his second appearance after undergoing ankle surgery in April.

“I haven’t done it in a while, I haven’t done it with my ankle the way it is now and I was excited each and every day to kind of get through it and kind of start piecing rounds together again,” Woods said after the Hero World Challenge final round.

“I haven’t done this in a long time so it was fun to feel that again. Every day I got faster into the round. The first day took me a while to get a handle on it, second day was faster, today was right away.

“And that’s eventually, when I play on a regular basis, that’s normally how it is. It takes me usually during warmup before I get a feel for the round. To be honest, that first day took me a while.”

Simone Biles is setting the record straight after fans speculated that she was expecting a baby with her husband, Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens. Biles took to her Instagram Stories on Dec. 13 to clear the air.

Fans began speculating about the four-time Olympic gold-medal-winning gymnast after she shared several pictures on Instagram on Dec. 12 of herself supporting her husband at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Owens and the Packers were playing against the New York Giants, and Biles shared the post with the caption, “Monday night football.”

The 26-year-old Olympian was sporting a beanie with her husband’s number “34” on the front and a baggy army jacket paired with a brown turtleneck and matching leggings. Fans quickly began speculating in the comment section that Biles was pregnant, but she shut it down with a post in her Instagram Stories the following day.

“I hate that I even have to address this,” wrote Biles. “But please stop commenting on this photo or my Instagram in general about me being ‘pregnant.’ I’m not pregnant.”

Biles and Owens were married back in April, and she has been a frequent supporter at his football games. After it was revealed that pop star Taylor Swift was dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and she began showing up to support him at his games, fans inevitably made comparisons on social media between the two famous couples.

After the Chiefs played the Packers on Dec. 3, fans weighed in. One fan wrote, “I’d rather have Simone Biles on our side than Taylor Swift any day of the week.” The fan also shared a video of Biles receiving a goat hat from a fan in the stands.

“Hi, Simone. What a pleasure to meet you,” said the fan. “You are the greatest of all time. I had to make you something, Okay? You are the GOAT.”

With that, the fan gave Biles a goat hat with “Biles” and “Goat” written on the sides. The fan also gifted Biles a Green Bay Packer hat with Owens’ name on the front.

Biles graciously accepted the gifts and posed for pictures wearing the goat hat, and Owens and his team beat the Chiefs 27-19. Biles says she enjoys supporting Owens at his football games and was excited to be there during the holidays.

“It’s been really fun supporting what he loves to do,” she said. “Obviously, he’s in Green Bay right now so my season just ended. I’m super excited to get out there to Green Bay for the holidays to support him.”

Biles and Owens were married at a courthouse in April but had another wedding ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in May.

Formula 1 fans wanting to see the upcoming Hollywood film starring Brad Pitt will need to wait a while longer due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes earlier this year.

Lewis Hamilton expects the as-yet-untitled Formula 1 film starring Brad Pitt will be released at a later date, potentially in 2025, following the disruption caused by writers’ and actors union strikes in Hollywood earlier this year.

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) went on strike for the first time since 1980, in a dispute over pay and the use of Artificial Intelligence in productions.

Members of SAG-AFTRA recently voted for a deal with studios, which ended the strikes that took place over the course of five months.

While Lewis Hamilton may have found himself absent from the title and victory scene again in F1 2023, his attire has seen him named among the best-dressed men of 2023.

Hamilton and his Mercedes team had hoped that F1 2023 would mark their return to title contention, Hamilton pursuing what would be a record-breaking eighth World Championship, though this did not come to pass.

Red Bull would once more control proceedings, taking their dominance to new heights in F1 2023 by winning 21 of the 22 grands prix, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz inflicting their only defeat, while Mercedes and Hamilton were left with a winless campaign, Hamilton now not taking to the top step of the podium since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton joins best-dressed 2023 list

Every cloud has a silver lining though, as they say.

As a seven-time World Champion, with the most wins, poles and podiums among his F1 records, Hamilton has established himself as arguably the most marketable driver on the grid, while he is also noted for his striking fashion sense around the paddock.

And his style has seen him make the cut with Essence for their best-dressed men of the year 2023.

‘Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton has been championing black designers since he’s been growing in popularity,’ the publication notes.

‘Hamilton went to The Met Gala in 2021 and made sure his entire table was filled with emerging black designers like Edvin Thompson of Theophilio, Kenneth Nicholson and Jason Rembert of Aliétte.

‘You’ll often see the driver in the front row at Fashion Week wearing bold and colorful outfits by brands like Off-White and Valentino.

‘His Grand Prix entrances are our favorite part of the racing sport. Hamilton has created a space for fashion in F1 by expressing himself through his style.’

Hamilton is named among a collection of high-profile celebrity figures in this best-dressed list, including music icons Usher and Pharrell Williams, to Oklahoma City Thunder basketball player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

As Hamilton now recharges ahead of a targeted F1 2024 title push, the seven-time champion recently threw his backing behind Mercedes team principal and one-third owner Toto Wolff, as the eight-time Constructors’ champions look to emerge from their slump and return to winning ways.

“Toto is an amazing leader,” Hamilton said at the FIA Prize Giving Gala when asked about Wolff’s continued influence at Mercedes.

“Obviously, I’ve known him for a long time, we joined the team at the same time and it’s been an interesting journey for both of us to both grow with the team, to see his vision grow and progress within the structure of the team.

“He hasn’t lost an ounce of his competitiveness, he is massively competitive. You see it on TV when he’s sitting at his little desk in the garage, and trying to find a balance in life of, you know, work life and family life – I think he’s done a really great job there.

“But I think just continuing to push everyone, yesterday, again, we were talking to the team together.

“He’s a very, very approachable leader. I think people can relate to him, to his emotions and just to his compassion, or his drive. He’s very understanding.

“I think it’s definitely not been easy for anybody in the team when you’re working towards something, but it’s not quite going the way you want it.

“I think there have been many lessons and I’ve been really proud to see the progress that he’s made just as an individual, as a human being as well.”

Hamilton signed a new Mercedes contract during F1 2023, committing him to the team until the end of 2025.
