Renowned golfer Lee Trevino was recently seen imparting valuable golfing lessons to Charlie Woods during the 2023 PNC Championship. Known as the Supermex, the 84-year-old golfer took the opportunity to guide the new generation on mastering shots on the Ritz-Carlton golf course.

Trevino gave special attention to Charlie Woods, in the presence of the latter’s father Tiger Woods. In a video shared by PGA Tour Champions on X (formerly Twitter), ) Lee Trevino stated:

In the same clip, all the players including Tiger Woods were seen carefully observing the golf icon’s every move and instructions.

Just like the past three years, Team Woods is participating in the PNC Championship this year as well. The first round is in progress and they are currently tied for 16th place alongside Team Trevino, Team Thomas and Team Furyk.

In the picturesque setting of the PNC Championship in Orlando, Florida, the golf world witnessed the awe-inspiring prowess as Charlie Woods, under the watchful eyes of his iconic father, Tiger Woods, took center stage. The air buzzed with anticipation and excitement as Charlie, with youthful exuberance, aimed for a 321-yard shot on a challenging par-four hole.

However, what should have been a celebration of the young golfer’s impressive skills quickly turned into a heated debate as questions are now being raised against the validity of Charlie’s remarkable 321-yard tee shot on a par-four hole, adding an unexpected layer of controversy to what should have been a triumph of generational talent.

Tiger Woods expresses fatherly pride at junior Woods’ achievements amid scrutiny

During the first round of the PNC Championship, Charlie Woods proved just how much he’s grown, especially since the first time he competed in the event in 2020. What did he do? The 14-year-old carried the ball 321 yards, with it just rolling off the green. Because of his age, he teed off ahead of where the Open-category players did, with his drive having avoided the native area and sand bunker. It was a remarkable shot to add to the list of remarkable things Charlie Woods did during the PNC Championships. And well, he thought so, too.

Following Saturday’s outing, Charlie assessed, “I drove the ball really good today. Didn’t miss a fairway and still managed to shoot eight-under.” He matter-of-factly added, “We just suck at putting,” referring to how the father-son duo missed their putts for an eagle attempt after Charlie’s shot, and he was understandably disappointed. Team Woods is currently tied for fifth in the standings, 19 strokes below par. But despite Charlie’s disappointment, Tiger Woods had only nice things to say.

Charlie Woods

Tiger told the media, “I just have a lot more fun doing it with him. We have so much fun at home practicing and playing games. It’s a special bonding that happens that not a lot of parents get a chance to have.” This came after the 15-time major winner expressed his admiration for his son’s evolving skills. Ahead of the PNC Championship, Tiger said of Charlie, “You can see how much he’s grown from last year. It’s amazing how much has grown, has changed, and it’s a moving target with him, right? He’s grown somewhere near 4 inches this year, so his swing has changed, it’s evolved, clubs have evolved.”

At the end of the day, though, it was Charlie Woods’ 321-yard shot that stole the spotlight. But as critical as he was about missing a putt after making that shot, it was the shot in question that faced criticism online.

Fans question Charlie Woods’ skills

As the official PGA Tour social media accounts swiftly shared a video of Charlie Woods’ extraordinary drive, the response from the golf community was swift and, surprisingly, not entirely positive. Critics emerged with comments dissecting the authenticity and circumstances of the shot.

One fan claimed, “This kid barely swings over 100. He just isn’t as long as the broadcast would have you believe. I know a kid who is taught by somebody who knows both kids well. Charlie isn’t as long. So 101 102 tops for speed.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, calling golf media out for disseminating misinformation. They expressed how there was no way the 14-year-old’s drive was that long.

The skepticism continued with remarks suggesting alternative club choices and challenging the accuracy of the yardage, with some fans even comparing their skills with Charlie’s

Considering Charlie Woods went for the straight-line shot, there was no way it could’ve been 321 yards. Yes, the distance from the teeing ground to the hole, taking into account bends and curves, would’ve been that much. But fans find it hard to believe that Charlie’s shot went that long.

Another fan “called BS” on the straight-line yardage. While some speculated his drive was only a little over 100 yards, this commentator was a little more generous, speculating Woods Jr swung 250 yards.

Despite Tiger’s positive commentary, the criticism surrounding Charlie’s impressive drive serves as a reminder of the intense scrutiny that accompanies the Woods’ name on the golf course. As the PNC Championship unfolds, the debate over Charlie’s remarkable shot continues, leaving fans and critics alike eagerly awaiting each swing, with opinions divided on the true magnitude of the young golfer’s talents.

Tiger Woods’s daughter doesn’t play golf. But if you look at Sam Woods’s soccer career, it’s clear that the apple hasn’t fallen very far from the three. The 16-year-old excels at the game she loves. Woods earlier said in an interview, that his children take more interest in soccer. Although Charlie Woods has since then turned to golf, Sam Woods stuck to her guns.

The last time we saw her was at Tiger Woods’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony last year. But the 15-time Major winner decided to have Sam Woods on his bag this year at the PNC Championship. While we have seen glimpses of Charlie Woods’s school career, the elder sister has remained under the radar. So, how does Sam Woods’ soccer career stack up against her brother?

Sam Woods has proven her worth

Sam Woods goes to the same school as her brother, Charlie Woods. Despite their sport being different, Sam has also left her mark on the school roster. Woods is in her third year at the Benjamin School. The Junior star is a regular member of the Buccaneer’s soccer squad.

Sam Woods has garnered five goals and has one assist under her name. The assist was notable as it came in the regional championship in February. The Benjamin School Girls’ soccer team edged past Edgewood in a 3-1 victory. Woods contributed with a stellar pass to put Lily White in an envious position in front of the goal.

Tiger wood & Charlie wood

But that was also a return of the courtesy. A month back, White capitalized on a corner kick lofting a ball to Sam Woods, who made no mistake in thumping it in the right direction. The Buccaneers cruised past Lincoln Park Academy in a 6-0 victory in that match.

Undoubtedly, Sam Woods is excelling at a game she has no family ties with. Whereas, her brother is gearing up to carve a name for himself in a sport that’s synonymous with their father. How has the 14-year-old performed so far?

Where does Charlie Woods stand

Charlie Woods has had a remarkable season this year. The 14-year-old earned the bragging rights at the regional qualifier for the Notah Begay Hill Junior Championship with his dad as his caddie. The teenager carded a formidable 66 to pose his career-best performance.

Although he finished at the 17th spot in the final tournament, Woods Jr. didn’t have to wait too long to lift another trophy. This time, Charlie Woods earned a title that his father can not boast of having in his trophy cabinet. The teenager. won the Florida State Championship with his school after triumphing over First Academy. Charlie Woods finished at the 26th position in the individual leaderboard.

Tiger Woods said he would be happy as long as his children are enjoying the game. It appears both Charlie Woods and Sam Woods are thriving in their respective field.

Rising heavyweight contender Frazer Clarke is expecting former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua to secure a dominant win over MMA veteran Francis Ngannou.

Joshua has reached an agreement to collide with Ngannou on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ngannou has become a heavyweight player after a better than expected performance against WBC champion Tyson Fury last October in Saudi Arabia.

In what many expected to become a mismatch, Ngannou stunned observers by dropping Fury in the third and then fighting him on even terms until the final bell of the ten round contest. Fury came away with a close split decision win.

Clarke, an Olympic bronze medalist, has sparred Joshua on a regular basis.

“The good thing is about that one [Ngannou], we’ve already had a look at him now,” Clarke told Sky Sports.

Anthoy Joshua

“Before Fury was like the tester. He had to get in there when he wasn’t quite sure and neither were we about what he was going to get. I think [Joshua] can beat him and can beat him well. If the world title is your aim, then I would probably say you’ll want a more competitive name on your resume to get back to that stage.

“You’ve been at the top, you’ve come down a bit, and you’ve now just fought Otto Wallin to bridge the gap. Maybe you need to bridge the gap again to the next level up to get you ready for the world titles. I’m not sure if Ngannou is that? Saying that he had a good performance against Fury, but then again, what does it come down to? I hate having this conversation with people, because it’s not what people want to hear, but pound notes is a massive thing in boxing and I think ultimately that will do the talking.”

Anthony Joshua has finalised terms for his next fight against Francis Ngannou, the former UFC champion, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on a reported date of Friday March 8; Joshua is also in contention for another world heavyweight title fight

Anthony Joshua will convincingly beat Francis Ngannou but that fight might not be the ideal preparation for a world title challenge, says Frazer Clarke.

Joshua has agreed a fight against Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on a reported date of Friday March 8.

Ngannou emerged with credit after flooring Tyson Fury in a split decision loss in October, but Olympic bronze medallist Clarke, a regular sparring partner for Joshua, has questioned whether the 34-year-old has chosen a suitable opponent.

“The good thing is about that one [Ngannou], we’ve already had a look at him now,” Clarke told Sky Sports.

“Before Fury was like the tester. He had to get in there when he wasn’t quite sure and neither were we about what he was going to get.

“I think he [Joshua] can beat him and can beat him well.

“If the world title is your aim, then I would probably say you’ll want a more competitive name on your resume to get back to that stage.

“You’ve been at the top, you’ve come down a bit, and you’ve now just fought Otto Wallin to bridge the gap. Maybe you need to bridge the gap again to the next level up to get you ready for the world titles. I’m not sure if Ngannou is that?

“Saying that he had a good performance against Fury, but then again, what does it come down to? I hate having this conversation with people, because it’s not what people want to hear, but pound notes is a massive thing in boxing and I think ultimately that will do the talking.”

Zhilei Zhang’s team confirmed he was also in talks to face Joshua, but Clarke believes the Chinese contender would be a very dangerous proposition after his back-to-back stoppage wins over Joe Joyce.

“He’s going to be the one most avoided now, if I’m honest,” said Clarke. “I think he’s an absolute nightmare for a lot of fighters.

“He’s a huge problem, he’s a nightmare in the division.

“I don’t think we’ll see Anthony Joshua in the ring with him any time soon, unless it’s for a world title in China.

“If anyone has got any brains about them, they’ll learn from Joe Joyce’s mistakes.”

Gervonta Davis is the talk of the town. The fans want to see him back in the ring and so do his rivals. The Baltimore fighter is one of the biggest names in the sport and also a pound-for-pound best. Fighting him is an opportunity other fighters around his weight class tend to seek. His next fight? It is not known yet. This is all the more reason for him to get called out.

In a recent turn of events, a fighter makes a bold claim and sends a stern warning to the undefeated boxer asking him to fight. Who is this boxer? The fighter is an American and is as old as, ‘Tank,’ and boasts a record of 13 victories with only two defeats. The pugilist is none other than Jose Valenzuela.

Gervonta Davis gets called out, by who?

In a clip reposted by Fight Hype.TV, he suggested that if given an opportunity, he would fight Davis in a heartbeat and be very technical, starting out with, “If I fought Tank I would be technical about it. I would have my feet under me.” Amongst other claims, he asserted that he foresees him knocking Davis out.

Reflecting on the same, he stated, “You know, I also got long reach. So, I am a dangerous fighter and it wouldn’t be an easy fight for him, I’ll tell you that. And I wouldn’t be surprised if I knocked him out. Edwin, he made me look bad, I think, when he knocked me out. But he took it with a price. The next fight Chris fought, I was robbed, but he took it with a price.”

Gervonta Davis

He then went on to add, “And this last fight you guys saw the kind of power I carry. So you know an extremely well, good camp for the Tank, I can see myself beating him.” It is safe to say that Valenzuela is not short of confidence. Will his prediction come to light? Only time can tell. For the same, it is essential for Tank to face him first. But will he?

What is next for Tank?

The aforementioned question is not certain. However, his boxing trainer, Calvin Ford, did hint that something is being worked upon behind the scenes and it appears to be “Big.” Without explicitly stating his next opponent, the trainer of the undefeated boxer stated, “Right now, something big is coming. I can tell you that. It’s quiet for a reason. They’re trying to seal the deal. It’s gonna make the world turn.”

This development has the boxing world both curious and thrilled. Now, putting the ball in your court, who would be your ideal opponent for Davis?

The new year has just begun but arguably the biggest fight of 2024 is just around the corner.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will meet in Saudi Arabia next month to decide the undisputed world heavyweight champion, and with just weeks to go pundits and fellow boxers are giving their thoughts on the massive bout.

Joe Joyce held the WBO interim heavyweight title until losing it to Zhilei Zhang last year, but the Briton hopes to eventually work his way into contention for one or all of the belts that the winner of Fury vs. Usyk will walk away with.

As an invested on-looker, Joyce has his own thoughts on how the two fighters stack up and what might happen when they finally step into the ring on Feb. 17.

“This is the fight everyone wants to see, and I thought it was going to happen a lot sooner but then the Francis Ngannou [vs. Fury] fight came [in October],” Joyce told Betway.

“Tyson Fury is taller and has a longer range, but Usyk throws more shots, is more skilful in the southpaw stance and it is a 50/50 fight.

Anthony Joshua has had three trainers in his last four fights but might have found the best of the lot in his most recent outing against Otto Wallin.

The boxing world was widely impressed with the way in which Joshua got back to his potent and powerful best when stopping Wallin on his stool after the fifth round.

Anthnony Joshua

It was the main event on the Day of Reckoning card and the victory against the Swedish southpaw that famously pushed Tyson Fury hard over 12 rounds in 2019 has set Joshua up for a huge 2024.

One potential fight could be against Fury should he come through his undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia on February 17.

The two British heavyweights have something in common in that Fury was once trained by Ben Davison, who was with ‘AJ’ for his last outing and was in Fury’s corner for the Wallin fight in Las Vegas.

Speaking to ProBoxingFans, Davison was asked if he would train Joshua for a Fury fight in the future and he declined to be drawn on the matter.

Davison then explained why he is not yet thinking about that potential challenge

Joshua has now signed to face another former Fury for in Francis Ngannou.

When Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis stepped inside the ring on April 22, 2023, they shattered all records. As ‘Tank’ targeted Garcia with a body shot, the fight concluded in the 7th round, securing another victory for Davis in his record. However, it was not just the fight that made it stand out. The enormous numbers that it amassed had fans calling it a ‘super fight’.

The WBC released its nominees for the event of the year 2023. This list included fights like Errol Spence vs. Terence Crawford, Katie Taylor vs. Chantelle Cameron, Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou, Canelo Alvarez vs John Ryder, Naoya Inoue vs Stephen Fulton, and the Day of Reckoning which featured Anthony Joshua vs Otto Walin on the main card. What was missing from among the nominees was the Ryan Garcia vs. Gervonta Davis super fight. Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, was among the many who found it odd.

Leonard Ellerbe calls Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis the two biggest stars in the sport

The Garcia-Davis bout had accumulated approximately $22.8 million in ticket sales, drawing a sold-out attendance of 20,842 spectators. Orchestrated by Showtime PPV, the event had garnered over 1.2 million domestic pay-per-view purchases. This feat represented the most prosperous match for Showtime PPV since the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor crossover, which had amassed an estimated 4.4 million PPV buys. It was this performance that led many to question the legitimacy of the nominees’ list.

Nevertheless, Ellerbe expressed indifference towards the WBC’s decision to exclude this fight from their list, when a fan pointed it out to him. His focus remained on the overwhelming support shown by the fans, and the numbers that the fight brought in.

“it’s ok, The fans showed up, they tuned in and most importantly the numbers tell the story not someone with an agenda,” replied Ellerbe to a fan who was disappointed with the exclusion. He called out the council for working with an agenda. Further lauding Tank, he said, “Two of the biggest stars in the sport came together and Tank did his thing and continues to show you why he’s that guy and also the most exciting in the sport.

Though Garcia suffered a loss against Davis, he went on to revive himself in his next fight against Oscar Duarte. While things remain uncertain for Davis, Garcia is looking for his next event to pull in the crowd.

Is Ryan Garcia going to fight Rolly Romero next?

In a candid revelation, Ryan Garcia shed light on his recent decision to shift from Devin Haney to Rolando Romero. Addressing the speculation, Garcia clarified that Haney lost his opportunity, emphasizing the sequence as Garcia-Haney, not the other way around. Garcia affirmed his focus on Romero, with whom a Spring 2024 showdown was hinted at through a fight poster shared on social media.

This decision was presented as a calculated path to build anticipation and elevate the stakes for a potential future clash with Haney. When asked about the significance of the potential bout for Romero, Capucetti questioned if it could be the biggest fight of Romero’s career. In response, Garcia agreed with the thought. Regarding the expected outcome, Garcia was straightforward, stating, “I would defeat him decisively. I envision him with closed eyes.” His prediction was unequivocal, leaving no room for ambiguity.

Do you think this next bout would have the potential to appear in one of the top fights this year? However, do you agree with Ellerbe? We would love to hear your views on this topic.

DEONTAY Wilder is set to appear on another Anthony Joshua undercard in a blockbuster fight, according to his co-manager.

The Bronze Bomber, 38, featured in the Day of Reckoning in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia before AJ defeated Otto Wallin on December 23.

Now it’s been suggested he could play the former British champion’s understudy once again.

And his opponent could even be the tough Chinese customer, Zhilei Zhang, claim talkSPORT.

His co-manager Terry Lane stated:”Zhilei Zhang does indeed want to fight Deontay Wilder on the Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou undercard on March 8th.”

Anthoy Joshua

TalkSport boxing editor Michael Benson wrote on X: “It’s been reported that Zhang and Wilder may both be on the card, potentially even fighting one another.

“Wilder is such a great fighter. I open my arms to welcome that fight, that would be a great bang for the sport of boxing… Don’t overthink man, let’s do it.”

Intriguingly, both fighters have been touted as long-term opponents for Joshua.

Zhang currently holds the WBO interim title after defeating Joe Joyce.

He fought AJ in the Olympics in 2012, where he lost.

On his Instagram account Zhang wrote: “I lost to a better man 11 years ago in the Olympics. I’m happy we have both come a long way, gone through ups and downs in life.

“Now it’s time to do this for the sport of boxing and give it to the fans around the world. Let’s get it on!”

Wilder had reportedly agreed to fight Joshua in a stunning £100million double fight deal before his bout against Kiwi Parker.

However, a shock defeat left that arrangement in tatters.
