Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have captured the sports world with their love ever since they went public with their relationship. However, amidst the joy of 2023, the year they tied the knot, an unexpected twist occurred towards the end of the year. This happened when Jonathan Owens shared on ‘The Pivot’ podcast, “I always say that the men are the catch.” To add fuel to the fire, he even admitted, “I didn’t know who she was at the time. But like, the first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of followers. So in my mind I’m like, ‘OK, she’s got to be good.” This did not sit well with the fans of Simone Biles, who hail her as the “GOAT” in gymnastics. The drama escalated when Owens doubled down on his claims in an interview with Vanity Fair, leading to intense online backlash. Fans flooded the internet, bashing the Green Bay Packer’s safety for his comments and claims.

Even Sunny Hostin, the host of “The View,” expressed skepticism about Owens’ claims, noting that Biles is featured on a cereal box and saying, “I don’t know who he is.” The football center for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jason Kelce, the brother of Travis Kelce, also joined in and shaded Jonathan Owens when Simone Biles was nominated for the “People’s Choice Athlete of the Year Award,” questioning, “How is Simone Biles on this, but her boyfriend isn’t?” The drama initiated in December 2023 continued into the first month of 2024. Despite how Simone Biles responded to the hate, we continue to see the gymnastics phenom act differently on social media. This prompts us to ask if Simone Biles is done with the internet. Let’s find out!

Simone Biles

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens’ response to the drama

Amidst the unfolding drama, Jonathan Owens posted an image of their first dance on Instagram, captioned, “Unbothered 😂❤️ Just know we locked in over here.” on December 22, 2023. Then, on December 24, 2023, Biles took to Twitter and shared a picture of a confused child, writing, “Are y’all done yet?”

Following this, Simone Biles even took to Instagram to share pictures of the loved-up couple at Christmas and the holiday season, showing they were unfazed by the drama. Later, she also clapped back at haters on Instagram, stating, “Y’all want me to be insecure so bad.”  However, despite the claims of being “Unbothered,” there has been a noticeable shift in Simone Biles’ social media activity.

How is Mrs. Owens acting differently on social media?

According to Simone Biles’s Instagram activity since the controversy, a significant change has been observed on her platform. The comment section of Mrs. Owens’s posts has been limited. That means only close friends and people who she follows can leave comments on her pictures.

Previously, with over 10 million followers, she would actively engage with fans in the comments. The restricted comments on many of her posts leave us pondering whether Jonathan Owens’ controversy has caused social media fatigue for Biles. What do you feel about this? Do you think Simone Biles is done with the internet?

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have heard it all in recent weeks with all the backlash over the Green Bay Packers’ safety and his version of the story about how he met the legendary gymnast.

But they’ve deflected all that on social media, ignoring all the haters and continuing to talk about what they love about each other.

Now, with Owens’ NFL season ending after the Green Bay Packers were eliminated from the playoffs, Biles has posted on Instagram with a simple message along with photos of the pair, perhaps a way of putting any “controversy” to rest if that exists:

With the 2024 Olympic Games looming overhead, the country’s top gymnasts are training hard to bring out their best forms. Not only members of Team USA, but stars from all over the world are doing everything they can to develop their skills ahead of the rumble at the French capital. And what better way to do it than spending some time with the likes of Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles?

5-time PanAm gold medalist Canadian gymnast Ellie Black recently got together with the American athletes and it looks like they had a blast getting ready for the upcoming Games together. The 28-year-old had a lot of praiseful words for the members of Team USA as she picked up important pointers from the country’s best stars.

Simone Biles & Co. offers crucial wisdom to Canadian gymnast

For any gymnast around the world, four-time Olympic and 23-time World Championships gold medalist Simone Biles is a role model to look up to with deliberation. Throw Biles’ best friend and the 2022 World Championships gold winner Jordan Chiles into the mix, and you have the best possible training group you can imagine. For three-time Commonwealth Games winner Ellie Black, being able to train together with these two gymnastics icons proved to be a much-needed development process, as highlighted in her recent Instagram post.

Black joined hands with her American colleagues at the World Champions Center recently and couldn’t stop gushing about their time together. “It was great to spend some time training at the World Champions Centre to prepare for 2024!“, wrote the jubilant Canadian in her post. She also said that she’s grateful for being able to call these incredible athletes her friends.

Black also took a moment to appreciate how these gymnastics stars come together to support each other and help their comrades reach the heights they deserve. Along with Biles and Chiles, Ellie also extended her thanks to other American sensations like the 2023 PanAm Championships gold medalist Zoe Miller and the 2023 World Championships team member Joscelyn Roberson.

Ellie Black looking to set the record straight

Ellie was part of the Canadian national team participating in the 2016 Olympics, where she finished 5th All-Around. Black reappeared for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she narrowly missed out on a podium finish in balanced beam, while Simone took the 3rd place at the same event.

Now, after receiving crucial advice from the best people in the business, fans hope that Ellie will finally turn things around and walk away from the French capital on a high note later this year.

Francis Ngannou can cause a “massive upset” by defeating Anthony Joshua in their heavyweight showdown in Saudi Arabia, according to veteran promoter Frank Warren.

British boxer Joshua heads into the March 8 fight looking to back-up his commanding stoppage-win over Sweden’s Otto Wallin in December as he continues his quest to become a three-time world champion.

But Warren believes Joshua will have his work cut out in a 10-round bout against the 37-year-old Cameroonian fighter Ngannou.

Best known as a mixed martial artist, Ngannou stunned many observers with an early knockdown of Tyson Fury, promoted by Warren, before suffering a controversial split-decision loss to the World Boxing Council heavyweight champion in October.

And Warren believes Ngannou’s punching power could pose problems for another British boxer in the 34-year-old Joshua when they meet in Riyadh.

Anthony Joshua

“Joshua’s come into this after his last fight against Wallin,” Warren said Wednesday.

“He’ll be a big favourite going in, but I know that if he gets caught on the whiskers (chin) then this fella (Ngannou) could cause a massive upset because he can whack.

“It’s going to be interesting to see how he takes the fight and to see if he fights on the outside or the inside. Ngannou’s game is getting on the inside. He’s a big man, he’s strong.”

Joshua’s victory over Wallin was his third win of 2023 but Warren said his two defeats by Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk, the man who deprived him of the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and and World Boxing Organisation belts, were proof of an enduring vulnerability.

“The two fights to Oleksandr Usyk, we can see what they are,” said Warren.

“People have seen him (Joshua) wobble a few times in fights, that happens with him. I’m not saying there’s a confidence issue, but there wasn’t that when he was such an emphatic fighter.”

Fury and Usyk will clash for the undisputed heavyweight title in Saudi Arabia on February 17.

The winner will be crowned the heavyweight division’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis, who held all the major belts from 1999 to 2000.

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has made his prediction as to when Anthony Joshua will be able to do what Tyson Fury couldn’t and stop former UFC sensation Francis Ngannou.

The Cameroonian almost pulled off the upset of the century when he lost a split-decision to ‘The Gypsy King’ after knocking the Brit down in the third-round.

That fight appears to have opened the door for ‘The Predator’ to continue in major boxing fights in 2024, so much so that Joshua has delayed a potential world title shot against Filip Hrgovic in order to face him.

‘AJ’ emphatically dominated and knocked out Otto Wallin last month, another opponent of Fury’s who took him the distance, and Joshua will seek to do a similar job on Ngannou, as he pursues a shot at the undisputed heavyweight title.

In an interview with Matchroom Boxing, Hearn declared that he expects the fight to last no longer than eight rounds, as he continued to show respect for Joshua’s opponent, despite criticism of the fighter from high-profile figures in the sport.

The card will take place on Friday March 8th in Riyadh, topping yet another stellar Saudi bill that features a mouth-watering affair between Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker, as well as a WBC featherweight world title showdown between Rey Vargas and Nick Ball.

Teofimo Lopez is at it again. After conquering Vasyl Lomachenko and Josh Taylor, he’s setting his sights higher. This time, it’s Terence Crawford in his crosshairs. But why Crawford? Lopez’s ambitions aren’t just about titles; they’re about breaking records. He’s hinting at a fight bigger than the $50 million Crawford-Spence showdown.

Remember their epic earnings? Lopez thinks he can top that. But how? He’s confident, but is this just another callout, or is there something more? This isn’t just about boxing; it’s a financial gambit. Can he pull it off?

Teofimo Lopez is at it again!

Teofimo Lopez has once again targeted Terence Crawford, setting the stage for what could be a monumental clash in the boxing world. “Do I want Crawford? Absolutely,” Lopez declared, his voice resonating with determination and clarity. His aim? Not just another victory, but a fight that redefines the financial landscape of boxing.

“I aim for greatness. What is that? Fighting the best,” Lopez continued, emphasizing his quest for excellence. Crawford, with his impeccable record and status as a top pound-for-pound fighter, fits the bill perfectly.

Lopez’s confidence is not unfounded. He has a history of backing up his words with action in the ring. “Crawford says he’s the best, I know I’m the best, let’s make the fight happen,” he asserted, showcasing his readiness to take on the elite. However, Lopez acknowledges that before this dream fight can materialize, there’s an immediate hurdle that needs attention. “First things first though, we got to knock this guy out of the way. He’s in front of me, Jamaine Ortiz.”

Teofimo Lopez

His words reflect a fighter who understands the magnitude of the bout he’s proposing – a fight that could potentially eclipse the Crawford-Spence fight on the financial Richter scale.

Financial incentives for Crawford

Acknowledging Crawford’s stature as a formidable fighter, Lopez said, “But I am going to be honest G with you man, I know that you are a great fighter, I’m a great fighter, you like tough competition, and so do I man.”

He underscored his readiness to rise to Crawford’s weight class, hinting at a significant move. “I think we can make more money than you made with Spence,” Lopez added, laying out a lucrative proposition. This statement underlines Lopez’s willingness to face the best and challenge himself beyond his current division, reflecting his ambition and strategic thinking in the sport.

Will this potential mega-fight redefine the financial and competitive landscape of boxing? What are your thoughts on this potential showdown?

In the high-stakes world of boxing, weight classes are more than just numbers—they’re battle lines. Dmitry Bivol, a light heavyweight champion, recently weighed in on Terence Crawford’s daring idea. Crawford, fresh from a historic win over Errol Spence Jr., eyes a leap into Canelo Alvarez’s domain.

Canelo who dominated Jermell has shown that jumping weight classes is not a good idea. But is Crawford’s plan a stroke of genius or a step too far? As Bivol shares his insights, he brings a twist to the tale of two fighters wanting to shape their legacies in the best possible way.

Bivol’s advice (or lack thereof) for Terence Crawford

The heart of the matter lies in Dmitry Bivol’s candid conversation with Fight Hub TV. Bivol’s thoughts came in response to a direct question about Crawford’s intention to move up three divisions. “I don’t remember sizes of Terence Crawford,” he initially admitted. The interviewer clarified, “Welterweight, well he’s probably my size maybe like 170.”

Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez

Here, Bivol recalled a fundamental boxing lesson, emphasizing respect for the sport’s weight divisions. “I think I remember when I came to the boxing gym one of the first lesson which I should learn it’s like you should respect weight classes,” he reflected. Yet, his admiration for Crawford’s prowess is evident. “But Terence Crawford now is my one of the favorite fighters, active fighters. I mean he has good skills very good skills, maybe he could show us something,” he added, acknowledging Crawford’s exceptional talent.

The interviewer, seeking insights from Bivol’s successful encounter with Canelo, asked for advice he might offer Crawford. Bivol’s humility and respect for his fellow boxer shone through. “It’s funny if I give him advice. He knows already what he needs to do and his coach knows they will find the solution to how to do it but it will happen or not, it will be success or not,” Bivol stated, expressing confidence in Crawford’s and his team’s strategic prowess.

But Bivol isn’t the only one who has spoken about this fight. Sugar Ray Leonard had some words of advice for Terence too.

Sugar Ray Leonard’s key advice to Crawford

Sugar Ray Leonard’s perspective offers invaluable insight for Terence Crawford’s bold move to face Canelo Alvarez. During a discussion focusing on ‘everything Crawford,’ Leonard, a legend who himself navigated through various divisions, shared his wisdom on what Crawford must prioritize in the ring. “Well, as long as [it] doesn’t prevent him from moving or slipping punches and just stay on the outside – just fight his fight,” Leonard advised, emphasizing the importance of maintaining one’s unique fighting style amidst challenges.

This advice is particularly poignant, considering Amir Khan’s previous fight against Canelo in the supermiddleweight division, which ended in a dramatic knockout.

Can Terence Crawford successfully translate his dominance across weight classes and etch his name in the annals of boxing history against a powerhouse like Canelo Alvarez?

Calvin Ford, the famed boxing coach for Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid, was released from prison on January 21! He was picked up by the authorities on December 29 on felony assault charges while he was leaving the popular Upton gym in Baltimore. However, three days after his release, the 58-year-old trainer sheds light on how he plans to help black youth in jail.

Police in Las Vegas issued an arrest warrant for Ford in September last year, but he was arrested in December by the cops in Baltimore. After being held at central booking, he was handed over to the Las Vegas authorities. However, since his release, the famed trainer appeared in an interview with The Rize Podcast – expressing his new goal in life.

Calvin Ford wants to help the youth “not inside of this gym – outside the gym”

During an interview with the Rize Podcast, Ford discussed his experiences in jail and how it gave him a clearer understanding of “what is going on with young black men.” During his time behind bars, Ford stated he saw “Muslims, the Jays, the civilians, the Crips, the Bloods,” and because of the laws passed on them, “we gonna start seeing a lot of bodies coming out that City Jail,” said Ford.

He further added that “they have no sense, no guidance [of] what they should be doing.” Ford suggested that the youth should be working on how they mean to get out of prison and what they plan to do after getting out. Suggesting he went through the entire process, demonstrating how it should done. So, “Now I’m coming up, I got to extend my [hand] just not inside of this gym, outside the gym,” said Ford. While Ford was only recently released, his close aide has advocated for his innocence from the beginning!

Gervonta Davis’ co-coach & close aide defends Ford

While speaking to Fannon International Boxing Channel on January 1 this year, Kenny Ellis claimed that Ford was arrested on some false charges. “They picked him up, you know. They picked him up on some false accusations that somebody accused him of doing,” Ellis. Meanwhile, he detailed his reasoning behind believing the charges were false.

“It was assault with a deadly weapon from two people, and the question is if that happened and I was with Calvin, why am I not locked up,” Ellies said. While Ellies argued why he wasn’t arrested when the pair were together, he sent a message to all the fans. “[I] want to let the people know that he’s been falsely accused, and the truth will rise to the top,” said Ellies.

After being released from prison a few days ago, the famed trainer is aiming to help African-American inmates traverse adversities. However, whether Calvin Ford himself is completely out of trouble is yet to be seen. What do you think of Ford’s new mission to help the youth? Let us know in the comments below!

It sounds like Gervonta Davis’ next fight won’t be taking place in Saudi Arabia.

‘Tank’ has been out of the ring since a knockout win over Ryan Garcia in April. The victory was the biggest of his career, and it was clear that Davis was now one of the biggest stars in boxing. Mike Tyson even dubbed him the “face of boxing” with the win.

Gervonta Davis

With that sort of thing in mind, the WBA (Super) lightweight champion believes that he’ll need a great offer to fight outside of America. Given Saudi Arabia’s recent move into the sport, that’s a bit of a complication.

Earlier this month, Turki Alalshikh named Davis as one of the boxers he wanted to bring most to the Middle East. The advisor has helped build the country’s move into the sport and created fights such as Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou.

However, ‘Tank’ will need a lot more than just cash to fight in Saudi Arabia. In a now-deleted post on X, Davis stated that he wanted some gifts first. He wrote:

Davis also responded to a fan questioning if he was scared to fight in Saudi Arabia (via BoxingScene):

Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid having converted to Islam, has resumed his training. Although boxing fans do not know who he is fighting next, the WBA Lightweight champion of the world is busy grinding in the gym. On that note, Wahid was recently found working on his footwork. Honestly speaking, he was light, spontaneous, and effective.

Likewise, out of appreciation and curiosity, a boxing reporter took to social media and posted Wahid’s training video. However, after a fan intervened, Abdul offered a word of caution over his latest name. Here is what happened.

Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid, dazzles with his impressive footwork

Taking to X, boxing reporter Danny shared a brief clip of Gervonta Davis working on his footwork. In the clip, taking a step back, he suddenly shifts from southpaw to orthodox with a shuffle. Then, ‘Tank’ throws combinations in the air on his backfoot, staying outside the pocket. Soon, the WBA Lightweight champion is found mixing his head movement with body shots. Finally, the 29-year-old pivots to his right after throwing a jab, a cross, and a right hook. At this impressed by Davis’ workout, a curious Danny wrote, “Tank working on his footwork…I wonder who he’s fighting next“.

Gervonta Davis

However, a fan by the name of Damian objected to Danny’s caption and said, “Tank? Ain’t his name Abdul now [?]” At this, as the fan’s tweet came to Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid’s notice, the champion said, “Abdul will smack the s**t outta you. Keep it up…Damian“. Anyway, now that ‘Tank’ is training, we cannot help but wonder who he will face next.

Who is Abdul Wahid’s next potential fight?

Last year, Sean ‘Viva’ Gibbons, head of Manny Pacquiao’s MP Promotions, told the media that they wanted to stage a rematch between Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz. Likewise, he had even claimed that PBC would bring the fans ‘Tank’ vs. ‘Pitbull’ II in the form of a post-Christmas gift. On that note, considering Gibbons’ statements, boxing fans can expect Davis vs. Cruz II. Meanwhile, ‘Tank’ and Devin Haney have been exchanging words on the internet.

Recently, Turki Alalshikh announced that he would like to stage Davis vs. Haney in Saudi Arabia this year. So, Davis vs. Haney is another option. With that said, who do you think Abdul Wahid is preparing his footwork for? And what do you have to say about his footwork? Let us know in the comments below.
