Simone Biles‘ journey through gymnastics has witnessed many trials and tribulations in various forms. The GOAT has been a household favorite even before her Olympics debut in 2016 in Rio. Since then, her consistent streak of winning gold has been her USP at every competition.

However, every peak scaled up had its own story. Biles’ achievements did not come without a huge dose of setbacks that almost sparked talks of her drifting away from the sport. In 2021, the gymnast underwent issues that would compel her to take a 2-year break from the sport.

After years of preparing for the Tokyo Olympics, Biles lost control over herself. What began as her planned routine for the competition turned ugly when nerves got her in-midst of her performance. It was her warning sign, suggesting that things could go wrong quickly.

Biles later revealed that she had suffered a case of ‘twisties’ where gymnasts lose their spatial awareness mid-air. It causes serious injuries if not addressed immediately. It prompted her to pull out of the Olympics midway, something that caused waves all over the world. A hiatus from the sport and competitions followed that lasted two years. But now, she has recently made a comeback that has won the hearts of many.

Simone Biles

The recent World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, witnessed the GOAT stun at the bars and beam with such finesse that it seemed like she was never too far from gymnastics, even during her hiatus. And now, it’s all onwards and upwards for the star, with the Paris Olympics just around the corner.

However, will she be an active athlete at the upcoming Olympics? While Biles is hopeful, there’s still no official roster announcing her as a member of the Olympic team. But would the gymnast take things to heart if she didn’t make it? In an interview with Vanity Fair, she admitted:

While her return and redemption at the Olympics are still being speculated, Biles did post something on her official ‘X’ account that created a stir. For those hopeful for her return, the gymnastics GOAT hinted at a possibility.

2024 might prove to be eventful for Simone Biles

After dodging questions surrounding the upcoming Olympics, the star finally admitted to going with the flow on the subject. Whether or not she made it to the final day wasn’t in her hands, and she was okay with whatever decision came her way. Regardless, Biles has actively shown interest in participating, given the chance.

Recently, the official X account for the Paris Olympics put up a poster of all the popular Olympians for Paris. Biles’ photo was present amongst veterans like Katie Ledecky, Ryan Murphy, Noah Lyles, and Oksana Masters. Whether this hinted at her official return or not, fans are now hopeful that they will get to see their beloved gymnast grab the gold for the country.

Just like every year since 2020, Tiger Woods teamed up with his son and budding golfer, Charlie Woods, for the PNC Championship. However, this time, the pair had yet another family member alongside them on the course. Woods’ daughter and Charlie’s elder sister, Sam Alexis Woods, was on the greens, too, as their caddie! Seeing the trio together left room for one big question, though.

Where is the missing piece of the immediate Woods family – the young Woods’ mother and the golf pro’s ex-wife – Elin Nordegren? Woods and Nordegren tied the knot in 2004, following which they had their two now-teenage children. However, the duo parted ways in 2010, a few months after their marriage scandal went public. More than a decade after the fact, Tiger Woods’ life is still well-documented. But what about Elin Nordegren?

Elin Nordegren’s life following the split with Tiger Woods

When Nordegren called off their marriage in 2004, it certainly did not mean the end for the ex-supermodel and nanny. After getting divorced in 2010, the Swedish ex-model went on to graduate from Rollins Liberal Arts College in Winter Park, Florida, four years later as a psychology major. Her love for the kids—which is what propelled her to become a nanny before meeting Tiger Woods—pushed her to remain strong and complete her education, leading her to get a job as a mental health counselor

Charlie Woods

After Nordegren split up with the golf pro, she went ahead and bought a beautiful mansion with part of the $100 million she received as settlement money. What’s more? The exquisite home consists of nine bedrooms, a lavish pool, and a mini-course for golfing, among other facilities.

The ex-model did make a name for herself professionally following the divorce. But what about her personal life? Has she been dating anyone else? Well, surprisingly, even though things didn’t go well with Woods—one of the most famous athletes—Nordegren is seeing someone from the sports world!

Who is Elin Nordegren now dating?

The Swede has been in a relationship with retired NFL player Jordan Cameron since 2017. The two lovebirds have two sons together, whose details have mostly been kept private. As quoted by Distractify, an insider told Page Six in 2019,  “[Elin and Jordan] have kept their relationship very under wraps. Her friends are so happy for her because he is wonderful. Elin and Jordan met at Art Basel in Miami a few years [ago], and they are both really happy and excited about the arrival of a new baby.”

Has the new relationship dampened the bond between Nordegren and her kids from her previous marriage? The answer is no. The duo has made sure not to let their past relationship affect how they raise their children. Moreover, the ex-lovers are now happily co-parenting Charlie and Sam Woods despite their tumultuous past. In fact, Charlie and Sam’s parents have left the past in the past. A source told Us Weekly“Tiger and Elin are truly in a great place. He’s been so great with the kids, and that really brought her around to having a friendship with Tiger.”

Elin Nordegren seems to have made a stable life for herself following the divorce while helping the legend raise the kids they had together.

Toby Harbeck, Charlie Woods’ high school coach, has provided an insightful analysis of the young golfer’s game. In a recent interview with Golf.com, Harbeck discussed the rising star’s skills and his golfing journey.

Woods, 14, has had a great year competing in junior competitions in 2023. Fans have great expectations for the up-and-coming golfer, who won the South Florida PGA Junior Championship in 2023. Now, he is ready to play with his father, Tiger Woods, in the PNC Championship.

Speaking about Woods, his coach Harbeck said, as quoted by Golf.com:

Charlie Woods

Herbeck also discussed Woods and his father’s striking resemblance. Several videos have been posted on social media comparing their golf styles since Charlie Woods made his PNC Championship debut in 2020. The younger Woods has also been dubbed a “Mini-Tiger” by fans.

Charlie and Tiger Woods will participate in the 2023 PNC Championship for the fourth consecutive year. Fans have them as this week’s favorites to win. Charlie Woods’ performances have been impressive in the last three editions as well, and supporters are hoping he will continue to display his remarkable golfing abilities.

During the interview, Harbeck also said that Woods is highly competitive, even when he is playing with his father. Harbeck said:

The PNC Championship has come to an end with Bernhard Langer and son Jason Langer having the last laugh. The action-packed extravaganza that went on for two days was nothing but entertaining. Despite all the action and the Langer’s glorious three-peat with his son Jason, the duo whose presence echoed through the Ritz-Carlton corridors has been Tiger Woods and his son Charlie. With the event done and dusted, there’s one question that remains, though.

The 2023 PNC Championship can be called the unofficial PGA Tour showstopper of the year. This exhilarating experience ignites a frenzy among fans and players alike, ticking all the entertainment boxes. The event was also the second time Tiger Woods was in action after his Hero World Challenge comeback. And although the PNC Championship is more inclined towards embracing the family aspect, it also doesn’t ignore the money perspective. So, how much did Team Woods earn after they paired up yet again for the event?

Team Woods finished in T5 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club with a massive comeback on the final day, which included Jr. Woods’ incredible chip-in. With a priceless reaction from Tiger Woods, Charlie’s remarkable shot-making won the father-son duo a five-figure payout of $47,000. Considering Team Woods was tied with three other teams in T5 (all of whom finished 19 strokes below par), all the pairs will receive the $47K prize money, marking this moment as something unique in the history of the PNC Championship.

Charlie Woods

Apart from the popular duo, the champs, Bernhard and Jason Langer, will get a total prize money of $200,000. Whereas popular partners like Nelly Korda-Petr Korda and Justin Thomas-Mike Thomas will be receiving $42,750 each. Annika Sorenstam and Will McGee, whose tears stole the hearts of fans, will have to settle for $43,750. That being said, the PNC Championship is far bigger than its decent prize pool. The priceless moments players share with their families would likely be their biggest takeaways from this wondrous event. Well, at least that’s the case with one of the two members of Team Woods.

While Tiger ‘bonded’ with his son, Charlie focused on a crucial improvement area

Coming into the PNC Championship, Tiger Woods expressed his admiration for how much his son’s game had grown over the past year. For him, the event was an opportunity to play alongside Charlie, watching him take the golf community by storm. And that’s precisely what Jr Woods did. His chip-in was one of many astonishing shots the 14-year-old made, another one of which was his 321-yard drive. But what followed that drive – both he and Tiger missed their putts for an eagle attempt – is what left him disappointed, among other things. And he revealed the duo’s aspect that needs improving.

After the event, Charlie said, “I drove the ball really good today. Didn’t miss a fairway and still managed to shoot eight-under. We just suck at putting.” While he focused on the competitive side of the event, his father couldn’t help but reflect on the fun outing he had with Charlie, staying true to the point of the PNC Championship. Tiger said, “I just have a lot more fun doing it with him. We have so much fun at home practicing and playing games. It’s a special bonding that happens that not a lot of parents get a chance to have.”

“I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps – I’m the first Simone Biles,” these are the first words one would remember when you heard the name Simone Biles. These famous words were quoted by Biles at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. From then on, the Olympic gymnast has been on a remarkable journey in her career.

Starting her love for gymnastics at a young age to now being known as one of the GOATs of the sport, she has come a long way. The most decorated gymnast has 37 medals under her name, which include 7 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship medals.

However, her journey has not been an easy one. And, winning all of this and who she is now is the only cause of her sheer dedication, perseverance, and love for the game. What was Simone Biles’ journey in gymnastics like, and how did she become the GOAT of the game?

The Journey of Simone Biles

Since childhood, Biles was an active child who loved running and jumping. At the age of six, she was taken to a gym on a field trip. This is where it all began for the prodigy. When she was seen imitating the performance of older girls, the coaches were in awe of her. They suggested that Biles too regular gymnastics classes.

She began her training program at Bannon’s Gymnastix in Houston with Coach Aimee Boorman. From being “just a brave child”, to conquering the world, this gymnast athlete is now a champion. Years later, at the age of 16, Biles has numerous medals under her name. In 2013 she won two World Championship golds, including the all-around title. She never stopped there but instead followed it with four world golds in 2014 and 2015.

2016 Rio Olympics

It was in 2016 when Biles got her opportunity to perform at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Before the Olympic games, in the same year, she won an all-around victory at the Pacific Rim Championships with the highest scores on vault, floor, and balance beam. Later, she won the vault and floor exercise, winning the all-around title at the 2016 USA Gymnastics National Championships.

On August 9, 2016, Biles led her team to victory in the team event. Even though it was clear that Team USA was the favorite, Biles concluded by adding the finishing moves to securing their gold medal. At the Olympics, Biles wasn’t known just as an athlete. She was a dazzling display of athleticism and power that captured the world of imagination.

Biles cemented her name as the ‘queen of the Olympic arena’ by winning the individual all-around title on August, 11th. She secured a total score of 62.198 by topping the charts in the vault, balance beam, and floor events. Biles put on a magnificent performance at the 2016 Olympics, and no one could take their eyes off her. She also won her second individual gold medal in the vault.

Biles received a bronze medal on the balance beam in the all-around competition despite finishing first due to an unexpected error. In the final of the floor exercise, she won another gold medal, taking home four gold medals that year. America’s sweetheart, Simone Biles, finished on a high at the 2016 Rio Olympics by tying numerous world records and set a new American record for most gold medals in gymnastics at a single Olympics Games.

The most decorated gymnast for her outstanding performance was chosen by her teammates to carry her country’s flag in the closing ceremonies. Those who witnessed Biles perform, could not believe their eyes. It felt as though she was defying gravity through her flawless moves.

Simone Biles defies gravity

When Biles performs, it’s as if gravity bends to her will, allowing her to defy the laws of physics momentarily. The reason why she is known as the greatest of all time is the cause of her gravity-defying feats on the gymnastics floor. The moves named after her, Biles and the Biles II, are indications of sheer artistry and phenomenal skill. Biles has enchanted her fans with her style, and skill she holds.

Comeback after a hiatus from the 2016 Olympics

Simone gave another stellar performance and won a whopping 4 gold medals for USA Gymnastics National Championships the next month. She was the first American to bag medals for all 5 events in the World Gymnastics Championships in 2018, all while fighting kidney stones.

Biles created history by dominating floor, vault, and beam events by winning 5 gold medals in the World Championships in Stuttgart. This earned her total achievement portfolio with 25 medals across 5 key competitions, making her the most revered gymnast of all time.

Tokyo Olympics 2021

This made her Olympic stint at Tokyo in 2020 as a performance worth the wait. Owing to COVID restrictions, she couldn’t participate in public competitions for a year. In 2021, she got public acclaim for her impossible feat of the Yurchenko double pike and won first in this game. At the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, she made the notorious decision to withdraw from the competition owing to her mental health.

Everyone lauded her for prioritizing her mental health during a time when sports arenas and players come under public scanner and battle criticism. She made an equally dramatic comeback, earning a bronze medal in balance beam.

Simone Biles’ much-awaited gymnastics comeback

After a long break, due to the twisties, Biles shared her interest in a comeback during 2023. Her name was announced along with others for the US Classic- a qualifying championship event. Having regained her composure and adversities, she made a victorious return in August 2023. She reclaimed her international stature and undeniable prowess in the sport.

She also pulled off the Yurchenko double pike, a move she hadn’t performed since the last Olympics. More grounded and in balance, she got her 8th all-around title. This achievement made her the only American to break the 90-year record of winning eight national all-around titles. The star grabbed four World Championship gold medals at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.

These achievements have conferred her the position of one of the influential figures in the sports industry and the most revered gymnast. Her fans are now contemplating and see this as her possible contention to perform at the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, nothing is surety whether Simone Biles will participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics as an athlete or audience.

“I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps – I’m the first Simone Biles,” these are the first words one would remember when you heard the name Simone Biles.

Former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is treating his upcoming opponent, MMA veteran Francis Ngannou, with a tremendous amount of respect.

Their crossover boxing match takes place on March 8 in Saudi Arabia.

The winner of that fight will be positioned to challenge the victor of the upcoming undisputed clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk – which takes place on February 17.

Joshua is not allowing his focus to get shifted by looking too far ahead.

“Let me say this again, I’m not focusing on [facing the Fury-Usyk winner],” Joshua said to The MMA Hour. “I’m going to take my mind, I have to draw it back that Ngannou is my undisputed title fight. That’s the mentality I have to have.

“Ngannou is my undisputed fight. Because you’re only as good as your last fight, and I respect him a lot. He ain’t easy money. He’s a hard night’s work. And you know what’s crazy? So am I. I’m a hard night’s work for anyone. So let’s go, it’s going to be fireworks.”

Ngannou made his pro debut last October, in a ten round fight against Fury. On paper, many observers had expected a complete mismatch.

However, Ngannou proved himself by dropping Fury in the third round and then being competitive the rest of the way. Fury secured a razor-close split decision victory.

Joshua was initially being positioned to fight longtime division rival Deontay Wilder. That scenario fell apart when Wilder suffered an unexpected decision loss to Joseph Parker in December.

“I thought it might be Wilder still, because the contracts were signed, and it’s still a big fight,” Joshua said. “It’s still an amazing fight, it’s a crossover between U.K. and U.S.A., all that good stuff promotional-wise, it’s still a good fight.

“So no, I kind of let that one slide for, and then it was the [Flip] Hrgovic situation, the [Andy] Ruiz situation, and then they put Francis there, and my team were like, ‘This is a good opportunity on this day in Saudi Arabia against this opponent. What are you saying?’ I said, ‘Let’s roll. Let’s go.’”

George Groves has told Anthony Joshua his career will be over if he loses to Francis Ngannou.

Joshua will take on former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on March 8 in what will be just the Cameroonian’s second professional boxing fight. Ngannou dropped Tyson Fury in the third round of their clash last October before losing a narrow split-decision.

Joshua, meanwhile, stopped Otto Wallin two days before Christmas to record his third victory of 2023. He knows victory will set him up for a potential shot at the winner of Fury’s undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk which will take place on February 17. But Groves believes defeat will bring a sudden end to Joshua’s distinguished career.

Anthony Joshua

Ngannou hasn’t been boxing long, how can he defeat an Olympic champion who went on to win multiple world titles? AJ’s not past his best, he’s not on the way out,” he told Grosvenor Sport. He looked flat at the start of last year but he looked a real force against Wallin. So I hope he puts it on Ngannou and doesn’t put safety first. I hope he comes out hungry to make a statement, I think AJ can knock Ngannou out. I think he needs to win and win well.

“And if he doesn’t, we need to stop caring about the heavyweight division, it would be a farce. It would not happen in any other sport. You wouldn’t get Conor McGregor getting anywhere near anyone in the top ten in boxing. Joshua should easily out box him. Joshua has got it all to lose, a loss for Joshua would be curtains. His last defeat was against Oleksandr Usyk, who I think is a phenomenal fighter, whereas this time around, if he loses to Ngannou, a guy in his second fight, that’s going to be a disaster.

Anthony Joshua

“There will be a question mark over his career and legacy, especially because he’s not a faded fighter, he’s not shot, it’s not like Ngannou will be catching Joshua as the tail end of his career. AJ put in a really good performance against Wallin but if he’s beaten by Ngannou that’s a nightmare. It’s a big pressure fight. It would be a bigger shock than Buster Douglas beating Tyson. Douglas wasn’t a bad fighter and Tyson was a ticking time bomb. That was a major, major shock, but Ngannou beating AJ would top it surely.”

Anthony Joshua is treating his next fight as a world title opportunity.

Though no belts will officially be on the line when Joshua steps into the ring with Francis Ngannou this March, Joshua views the former UFC heavyweight champion as a chance to prove he’s still the best boxer in his division. Joshua has held multiple world titles in boxing, but he has been without gold around his waist since a pair of losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

Should Joshua defeat Ngannou, it could set him up to challenge for boxing titles again, but for now, he’s preparing for Ngannou like he’s the man to knock off the top of the mountain.

“Let me say this again, I’m not focusing on that,” Joshua said on The MMA Hour when asked if he expects a title shot with a win over the PFL’s Ngannou.

Anthony Joshua

“I’m going to take my mind, I have to draw it back that Ngannou is my undisputed title fight. That’s the mentality I have to have.

“Ngannou is my undisputed fight. Because you’re only as good as your last fight, and I respect him a lot. He ain’t easy money. He’s a hard night’s work. And you know what’s crazy? So am I. I’m a hard night’s work for anyone. So let’s go, it’s going to be fireworks.”

There is a vast gap between Joshua and Ngannou when it comes to boxing experience. Though Ngannou was a dominant force inside the octagon, in the ring it’s Joshua who has been one of the best in his sport for years. The Englishman is 27-3 in his career, with his only losses to Usyk and Andy Ruiz Jr., the latter of which Joshua avenged in an immediate rematch.

Ahead of a fight with Otto Wallin this past December that Joshua dominated, it was expected the ex-champ would face Deontay Wilder sometime in 2024. The only problem was that Wilder lost to Joseph Parker in the co-main event of the Joshua-Wallin card, which put that matchup on the shelf for the meantime.

Joshua vs Ngannou takes place on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

For the rematch against Errol Spence Jr.Terence Crawford will move up to 154 lbs. And given Crawford’s wish to become a three-time undisputed champion in the sport, it is likely that the 36-year-old will spend some time in the Super-Welterweight division. On that note, how will the current IBF Welterweight champion, Jaron Ennis find his way to ‘Bud’?

In his recent interaction with FightHype, former unified heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman explained how Ennis could potentially find his way to Terence Crawford. For Rahman, Jaron Ennis must establish himself as a household name and make the public push for ‘Boots’ vs. ‘Bud’.

Jaron Ennis needs to beat the top boxers at 147 and 154 lbs

In an interaction with YSM Sports Media, Jaron Ennis said he had to keep winning and keep making noise to receive a fight against ‘Bud’. Well, former unified Heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman is in complete agreement with Ennis. According to Rahman, in order to land a fight with Crawf0rd, Jaron Ennis must first dominate the Welterweight division. “Let’s just say Jaron tears up the Welterweight division. If Ennis beats some people in the Welterweight division, top guys. Just beats somebody like tough. [Then] everybody feels like [he’s] the man,” said Rahman.

Additionally, he stated that once Jaron Ennis has established himself as the king at 147 lbs, he can then move up and defeat an elite boxer at 154 lbs. In Rahman’s opinion, a memorable victory against a tough opponent at 154 lbs will certainly lead Ennis to ‘Bud’. “Once he’s there and if the public demands it, I think Jaron will fight him [Terence Crawford],” Rahman added.

I just think right now the risk-reward ain’t there for Jaron. I don’t think he would get the credit he deserves. Once you’re that household name and that guy, and it’s for money and credibility, I think Jaron will fight him,” Hasim said with conviction.

‘Boots’ challenged Terence Crawford to regain his lost belt

After the match with Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford was issued a mandatory challenge in Jaron Ennis by the IBF. However, since he had to rematch ‘The Truth’, Crawford could not negotiate with ‘Boots’ Ennis. As a result, ‘Boots’ received the IBF belt ‘Bud’ was stripped of. In this connection, looking for a fight with ‘Bud’, Ennis recently taunted Crawford.

There is a lot of commotion amok in the lighter-weight classes at the moment. Who will fight whom? Well, that’s a valid question fighters have grappled with for a while now. However, a fresh dubiety has emerged. Who will not fight whom? In a fresh set of attacks, Bill Haney, father and trainer of Devin Haney, took digs at the fighter’s contemporaries, suggesting why they would not fight his son and each other.

Last year was monumental for ‘The Dream.’ After defeating Vasyl Lomachenko via a controversial unanimous decision in May, he went up the weight to challenge WBC super light titlist, Regis Prograis. In a stumping December showdown, the Las Vegas-based fighter snatched the title via another unanimous decision. In the wake of it, while most assumed that his route to his elite contemporaries like Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson would open up, the possibility of those fights dropped like cards. Still sour from those setbacks, the leader of his camp, his father, Bill spared no words in shading Davis and Stevenson. However, this time, he came up with something brazen.

Bill Haney and his Indirect-Direct Attacks

devin haney

Senior Haney brewed some serious tea in his recent X post. Roping in the trainers of Davis, now, Abdul Wahid and ‘Sugar’ Stevenson, respectively, Bill Haney wrote, “Calvin Ford and Wally Moses are scared to death to fight Dev and they don’t want to fight each other either. Who them dummies think they fooling?.” It is interesting how until now most fans assumed that the animosity between these fighters was limited to only them. But now, with his claims, he has extended this hostility to his counterparts in the trainer leagues too.

Earlier, both Stevenson and Haney showed interest in fighting each other. However, reports later suggested that Stevenson pulled out of the confrontation, unhappy with the purse split ratios. Later, right after the Regis Prograis win, Haney called on ‘Tank’ for a fight in an instigating post on social media. While Davis did show interest in getting the bout rolling, promoter Eddie Hearn later revealed that the Baltimore-based fighter was not too keen on the fight.

Since then, another key player in his weight class, Ryan Garcia came forward to fight him. However, that too will not see the light of the day now. Why? Let’s find out.

Ryan Garcia’s fight falls through for The Dream

Right before 2023 ended, Garcia’s feeding promoter, Oscar De La Hoya was positive about getting the anticipated Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia fight happen. While both the fighters had assented to it, Garcia at a later stage pulled out. Instead of fighting ‘The Dream,’ the Californian chose Rolando Romero as his opponent. With that, Devin Haney lost another key opponent.

While the Haney clan continues to look for another opponent befitting of their star player’s potential, it becomes crucial to see where their search leads them. Haney stands at a juncture that could either take him to world domination or signal his plummet in the sport of boxing.
