Floyd Mayweather On The Potential Of Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia Rematch

While apparently out shopping with Ryan Garcia, Floyd Mayweather has given his view on the chances of ‘Ky Ry’ getting a rematch with Gervonta Davis.

The super-lightweight contender Garcia might have lost convincingly when the pair first met, but he has since stated that he is full of confidence should he be able to get a rematch against ‘Tank.’

The first fight ended in quick fashion when Davis managed to land a fierce body shot that sent Garcia down to the canvas on one knee and saw him remain there for the full 10 count.

Until then, it had been a cagey fight and Garcia had done little to impose himself on Davis. At the time he was going through behind-the-scenes drama with his promoter Oscar De La Hoya – something which Mayweather was quick to jump on after the fight in April.

Mayweather had mentored Davis in the early part of his career and jumped in the ring to celebrate after the fight. He soon picked out De La Hoya in the crowd and shouted ‘Hey Oscar’ while laughing having famously defeated De La Hoya in a huge fight in 2007.

Now, speaking to InsideFighting, Mayweather was asked if we might see the two young talents going at it in the ring once more.

Garcia has recently confirmed that he has moved on from initial negotiations with Devin Haney in favour of a shot at the WBA Super-Lightweight World title currently held by Rolando Romero.
