Fans speculated that the Olympic gymnast was pregnant following her most recent Instagram post.
Simone Biles is shutting down rumors that she is expecting their first child. On Tuesday, the 26-year-old Olympic gold medalist took to Instagram to share a series of photos of her cheering on her husband Jonathan Owens from the stands at MetLife Stadium during the Packers’ Monday night matchup against the New York Giants.
In the photos, captioned “Monday Night Football,” Biles sported a beanie with Owens’ number. However, fans quickly flooded the comments with speculation that the gymnast was pregnant. “Baby on board,” read one comment. “Is she expecting?? I’m so happy for them!!” wrote another. “Picture is sending baby vibes,” someone else commented.
The following day, Biles was forced to acknowledge the rumors on her Instagram stories. “I hate that I even have to address this,” she wrote. “But please stop commenting on this photo or my Instagram in general about me being ‘pregnant.’ I’m not pregnant.”
Many fans also came to Biles’ defense. One comment that the Houston native liked read: “It is so incredibly rude to assume a woman is pregnant without her mentioning it. We only see what she chooses to post. You have no idea what may be going on in someone’s life.” Another read: “Why are y’all thinking she’s pregnant?? She’s literally competing in the Olympics so I doubt she’s thinking about having a baby [right now]??”
Back in April, Biles and Owens were legally married at a courthouse in Houston, a month before they tied the knot again in a lavish ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Since then, the gymnastics legend has attended several of Owens’ games.
In an interview with the Today show in October, Biles said she enjoys watching her husband from the sidelines. She also opened up about how her perspective on gymnastics has changed since getting married. “I don’t feel like it’s the end all be all anymore, as before I kind of felt like that,” she said. “I get to go home to my husband, to my dogs, to my house and all of the things. So it feels really good.”
